Texas - Austin

Austin, the Lone Star State’s capital, offering both the best of Southern charm and city attractions, but that just skims the surface of what drivers visiting the city in our upcoming Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator can discover.

Cruising along the I-35, drivers will be greeted with a view of all the major skyscrapers that downtown Austin has to offer, as well as the Mike Myers and DKR Texas Memorial Stadiums. With the continual growth and development of this city, cranes can be spotted all across the skyline creating new buildings and infrastructure.

With big cities come complex road networks, and Austin is no exception. Players travelling on the Monarch Hwy will come across a large five level interchange where the I-35 and U2-290 meet. This spaghetti like junction can be quite confusing, so be sure to follow your GPS. You may even find yourself travelling over the Colorado River as you travel between the southern and northern parts of the city.

Austin is booming with businesses small and large and drivers will be able to deliver to 10 different depots spread across into 3 industry areas in the city. No matter what cargo you are haulin', we sure do recommend taking the time to explore all that the capital has to offer, especially as almost every frontage road in Austin is open for players to drive down!

We recommend sticking around Austin for a while, so why not consider making it a location for your newest garage? It's a prime location for contracts and comes with a lovely view of the downtown area. We can't wait for you to finally visit.

Of course, this just a small part of what the HUGE state of Texas has to offer for drivers, and we can't wait for you to visit. Be sure to add Texas to your Steam Wishlist to stay in the know of its release and potential future sales. Until then, stay weird Austin!

Pinktober 2022 Update

The month of October is behind us and it is now time to wrap up this year’s #Pinktober2022 campaign. As we promised in our previous blog post, we will provide you with some additional information along with the amount that has been raised over the year.

Throughout the entire month, we were doing our best to spread awareness among our community about this terrible disease by hosting a live stream on our Twitch channel and frequently sharing reminders on our social media. We’d like to thank everybody who joined this year’s campaign by tuning in to the broadcast or by sharing a kind message on their social media profiles using the special paint jobs contained in the DLCs. These might be small steps, but they are an important part of the ongoing battle.

Our effort was reflected internally within SCS as well by hosting an hour-long session with representatives from the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer charity organization. We are glad that so many of our colleagues attended this lecture and we truly hope that through them the message will carry on to those who might eventually find it useful.

Thanks to the amazing support from the #BestCommunityEver, the total amount gathered from the sales of the Pink Ribbon paint job packs is 47,000 USD! This sum is absolutely incredible and we thank each and every single one of you. We hope that donating the entire sum to the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer will make a great difference to those in need.

But don’t forget, you are free to support this, or any other organization throughout the whole year. Most importantly, however, donations are only one of the ways to join the fight. Spreading awareness, and reminding those you hold dear of the importance of regular health checks is what matters the most. Our health should always have the top priority and all of this information is something that all of us should keep in mind.

Thank you very much for your effort and support!

#HappyHauloween Event Extended!

Happy Hauloween, Happy Hauloween,
Happy happy...stop!
And so it has been said, I’m told,
That there are some of you so bold
To speak of one point four six woes
For goodness sake, we did not knows
That there might be, oh, such a clash!
Oh my, oh wow, now we must dash
To fix this all and do it fast
Extend our Hauloween to last
Until such time that you’re all done
With testing of our beta one
Point four six, yes! That is the feat,
Then hauling treats for all to eat!
It’s cool, it's great, and all will see
What fun that Hauloween can be!

To our #BestCommunityEver, we would like to offer our sincere apologies if we caused any concerns to those who are currently testing our Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator 1.46 Open Beta. We now realise that for many of you, reverting back to your 1.45 game saves in order to take part in our Happy Hauloween event was far from a desirable solution and, moreover, was an avoidable consequence that should not have happened. In this way, we intend to extend the event well past the 1.46 Open Beta testing closure date, so that everyone will be able to continue to take part in the event using 1.46 also.

Thank you all for your guidance and valuable feedback!

Texas - Route 66

If you ever plan to motor west, get your kicks on route 66! This Historic Highway was one of the first to span across the Midwest, Great Plains, and Southwest; and is arguably the United States' most famous stretch of road. So buckle up! It's time to take a trip down a portion of this iconic route in our upcoming Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator.

One of the first stretches of Route 66 can be found alongside the I-40 between San Jon and Glenrio, which is around 15 miles long. This section of the route is mostly dirt road, featuring historic relics of the past along the way, including old wooden bridges and the now ghost town of Endee. The off-road portion of the route ends in the now empty town of Glenrio; which until the 1970's, was a popular stop for travellers, until the newer highway bypassed the town. It now remains home to only the critters and the blowing tumbleweeds of the vast prairie.

Continuing further east, travellers will come across one of the most famous locations of Route 66, the midpoint marker which can be found in the town of Adrian in Texas. From this point, it is the same distance to Chicago (Midwest) as it is Los Angeles (West Coast). Here you can also find the Midpoint Cafe, which today is still a famous stop-off point for many weary and hungry travellers.

Another stop which hungry travellers making along this route is The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, world famous for its 72oz (2kg) steak challenge. Since its opening in 1960, the Big Texan has become a must stop on Route 66. With its distinctive architecture, it was originally placed along the mother road, but had to make the decision to relocate closer to the I-40 when the historical highway was bypassed. Today it still stands decorated with old Route 66 signage and photos and is visited by thousands of passing travellers.

And for our final stop, come and visit the one and only Cadillac Ranch! Step right up and see ten vehicles buried nose-down in a field at the same angle as the Pyramids of Giza. Confusing travellers in since 1974, it continues to be a popular attraction for many. Since it's opening, visitors have been encouraged to contribute to the public art by spray painting their own designs on the Cadillacs; thus creating an ever changing art piece. Today, spray paint can be found as far as the road itself, making the whole area quite colourful!

Won't you get hip to this timely tip, when you finally make that Texas trip? What might you find on this old road of the nation, from restaurants to art installations. Enjoy the ride as you pass buildings with old bricks, and we are sure, you'll have a great time when you get your kicks, on route sixty-six.
