Wyoming - Devils Tower

If you’ve seen the title and now you are terrified that instead of delivering the usual goods, you’re now going to become the ferryman Charon himself, transporting souls by the river Styx, or perhaps that this is going to be some sort of spooky horror blog post, then have no fear, we are going to talk about a major landmark of Wyoming instead! You have seen many legendary places during your driving adventures, but the opportunity to witness the Devils Tower in the distance while you are sitting behind the wheel is a chance unlike any other. And it looks breathtaking in all situations, no matter the hour or weather, right?

Devils Tower is a famous butte with hundreds of vertical cracks and a total height of 5,112 ft (1,558 m), which makes it an extremely distinctive feature in the area full of prairies. The name’s origin can be traced all the way back to the year 1875 and the expedition led by Colonel Richard Irving Dodge (not to be mistaken with Doge). The name "Devils Tower" was reportedly a misinterpretation of a native title "Bad God’s Tower", which does not really sound that bad but still has a quite dangerous ring to it nonetheless.

As much as it would’ve been entertaining to see the trucks climb up the mountain, the sight of this natural wonder is much better experienced by seeing the "bigger" picture with everything around; therefore the closest possible point will be the visitor’s center and in front of the gate at the entrance to the park. But do not weep, because there will be a nearby farm and an interactive viewpoint below the tower, in which the most attentive may find something very interesting.

They say that picture is worth more than a thousand words. You'll be able to easily create similar shots with the upcoming 1.41 Update which brings the revisited in-game photo mode. And if you cannot wait to experience driving through Wyoming DLC, remember to add Wyoming to your Steam Wishlist and you can be one of the first to admire the Devils Tower and much more! And if you are still a little bit worried about the name, just remember, "the Devil went down to Georgia" some time ago anyway.

Texas - Landmarks and Prefabs

Howdy, truckers! We don't talk very often about Texas DLC on our blog, as there is still a ton of work ahead of us to start hyping it too much. But we have assembled the largest team ever to work on an ATS DLC for this project, and they keep producing great stuff. Today we are delighted to share some of the landmarks and prefabs that you will eventually be able to spot while on the road in this massive state. Get your cowboy hats ready and let's jump right into it!

What comes to people's minds when you ask them to imagine driving through Texas? For many, it's the oil wells and oil processing facilities. The state is the leading oil producer in the USA; the new map expansion would not feel complete if we did not focus on oil processing and related transport when portraying it. Your future journeys may frequently bring you to various functional areas such as oil wells and oil service depots. In addition to the fractionation method we previously introduced in Idaho, Texas will also be using oil extraction by pressure. The service depots will be the source of oil well mechanical parts, which are a must-have since there are about 180,000 oil wells in Texas.

Apart from oil industry-related areas, there will also be an introduction of the first glass plant. Our inspiration is a state-of-the-art facility that boasts the latest inventions that redefine glass processing and prevent excessive pollution. You may also find it interesting to deliver to a warehouse used for transferring cargo between Mexico and the USA.

Texas is home to a great deal of charming architecture and there are many interesting structures that you will be able to spot while on your deliveries. Some of the structures have major historical importance, for example The Herring Hotel, which is the only one still standing of the three oil-boom era hotels built in the 1920s, or perhaps "A Tribute to Courage", a monument that is a statue of Sam Houston - army general and the first president of Texas.

These are of course just a few examples. There will also be a number of well-known courthouses, apartment buildings, arenas, university, a medieval castle (although not really an actual castle!) and... what’s that? Did you think we could forget about the legendary Texas Capitol? Never! You will definitely be able to see this landmark in the game as well.

We hope you have enjoyed an early look at what is coming in the upcoming Texas DLC. Trust us, there will be much more to show you in the future. If you cannot wait to pass by some of these buildings or feel the atmosphere of the ever-growing industry, don’t forget to add the expansion to your Steam Wishlist and stay in touch with all the upcoming news.

Wyoming - Road Network

Networks are certainly an important part of today’s world. For example, our #BestCommunityEver is an inseparable aspect of our socialnetwork. In the same manner, road networks are a fundamental piece oftraffic infrastructure. The newest location that will be arriving inAmerican Truck Simulator is going to be no exception. Today we are going toshed some light on the road layouts and landmarks in the upcoming Wyoming DLC!

Legend says that a certain trucker (we’re all feeling proud here right?) decided one day to take a picture while driving on Interstate 80, as he was approaching an area near Fort Bridger known as "The Three Sisters". The image made it seem as if the road over the crest was never-ending and ever since then, people commonly referred to this area as the "Highway to Heaven". Just like it is with the real-life location, we cannot promise you a trip to paradise, but maybe if you try hard enough, you may just follow in the footsteps of the famous trucker and recreate something similar. Just be careful, as some others tend to call this area "Highway to Hell" instead. As if the Devils Tower wasn’t enough.

Time to get back to earth now and mention numerous new road signs which will include speed limit signs, freeway and highway signs, tourist signs, and dynamic message gantries! Speaking of road gantries there’s also going to be a very interesting new visual - gantries with traffic lights at crossroads. These are not exactly a common occurrence, that is why you should always be prepared to take a picture just so you can take it with you "spiritually" wherever you go.

But that’s not all, however, as you will also be able to cross several colorful bridges, and if open space is not for you, be sure not to miss the I-80’s Twin Tunnel near Rock Springs.

All this and more is coming in Wyoming DLC and whether you want to try to ascend to the heavens (just do not get your hopes "up" - pun intended) or add new visual features to your collection of pictures, do not forget to add Wyoming to your Steam Wishlist!

Open World Trucking Bundle

You may have noticed that Steam is currently running the Open World sale. We consider ourselves pioneers of the open-world exploration genre with our truck sims, and we are happy that both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have been included in such an offer among other great titles.

We had a really fantastic time with our #BestCommunityEver on our developer stream yesterday. It was a pleasure to present our progress on Convoy, our take on implementing multiplayer support into our games Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.

Currently, this new feature is still under testing in Experimental Beta for American Truck Simulator. But as of the upcoming Update 1.41, Convoy will give you a chance to enjoy both games with your friends! We thought that this is a great opportunity for us to make it a no-brainer for loyal fans of either of our games to pick up the other title if they are still missing it in their game library. We have created a special time-limited Open World Trucking Bundle through which anyone can easily grab ETS2 and/or ATS. No excuses, everyone will be ready to join their friends' convoys!

The sale is already underway and it will end on May 31st at 10:00AM PDT (5PM UTC). Besides both of the games being on sale individually, the whole bundle will be a part of the sale too. Also, don't forget to check out some of our other games and DLC as they are receiving a discount as well.

This bundle isn't available in Argentina as the average price for each item is lower than Steam's minimum price.

Wyoming: Nature #2

We know what you’re thinking. You’ve already seen the nature of Wyoming on our blog previously. The problem, or perhaps an advantage, is that our lovely map designers supplied us with many more beautiful scenes taken from the upcoming Wyoming DLC and it would’ve been criminal not to share these additional screenshots with the #BestCommunityEver. So buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Whether it is Boysen State Park with its interesting geological formations, Bridger-Teton National Forest and the already mentioned famous four W’s, Bighorn National Forest and its diverse landscape, or perhaps Targhee National Forest, which boasts with many natural marvels - there will certainly be no shortage of eye-pleasing distractions along the road.

The natural wonders of Wyoming are full of historically important locations, jaw-dropping scenery, and diverse wildlife. This description, however, truly pales in comparison to seeing it with your own eyes.

Since Wyoming’s industry is tied to mining and agriculture, the real magic of the local environment is how technological progress does not devalue beauty, instead, it fits right into what we admire in the first place.

All this and more is coming in the upcoming Wyoming DLC! Once you bounce back after being blown away by the natural spectacle you have witnessed, don’t forget to support us by adding the Wyoming update to your Steam Wishlist. Thank you and we’ll see you on the road!
