Quality of life Update v 1.0.10

[h2]THE DESCENT UPDATE V 1.0.10[/h2]

This patch recognizes problems and frustrations streamers and influencers and forum members encountered and further polishes The Descent based on that feedback. We thank you for taking the time to report all your suggestions and any issues.

[h3]Major[/h3]

  • Optimized game play to remove unnecessary frustrations.

  • Reduced frequency of flicker lights to help ease strain on the eyes.

  • Jump scare Improvements [help prevent out of focus jump scares]


[h3]Minor[/h3]

  • Localize missing translations including menu items.

  • Added extra signs to help players navigate better.

  • Modified game paths to help prevent users from getting lost.

  • Added a few new objectives to help users progress.

  • Background shade in text read UI is much darker to better see text.

  • Reduced howling noise to help clamp highs

  • Elevator Mesh + Doors modified to reduce cage improve visibility encounters.

  • Elevator Button moved to center to help players see and interact with it better.

  • Rockwell mine elevator now only requires to unlock one door to open both.

  • General graphics improvements + polish [animations speeds / decals]


[h3]Known Issues[/h3]
  • Graphics settings don't save. [working on it]

  • Occasional items get cleared from inventory. [this does not effect progress/ working on it]

  • Log Pickup gets added to inventory. [does not effect progress / will remove in future update]

  • Asian Symbol Font Localization
    [Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Japanese, and Korean]

  • More Collisions to prevent players getting stuck on details, etc.

  • Damage Triggers cleaned up after Miners disappear.

  • Various Script / Event / Graphics details polished / improved.

  • Various Objectives added to help players progress.

This patch further addresses various feedback provided from The Descent forum and Youtube videos. Thank you for taking the time to report all your suggestions and bugs / Issues.

  • Gate doors collision fixed
    [It was difficult to detect weather the interact icon was focused on the caged doors such as elevators]

  • Flash light intensity increased additional 25%
    [This helps players better see in the dark when using the flashlight]

  • Collision blockade to prevent players from getting stuck behind elevator

  • Fixed sequence where minors at bunker scene did not disappear.

  • Performance improvement on Rockwell Mine map

  • Lighting improved Rockwell Mine Map [was to dark, no details visible outdoors ]



[h3]Minor[/h3]



  • Collision pass to prevent players getting stuck on details, etc.

  • General polish - car Interior materials + grass going through cars + sounds of bolt cutters, etc.

  • Localization Item descriptions + titles

  • Settings menu adjusted [pressed buttons are now RED for ease of navigation]

  • Most signs now have a metal surface on the backside.

  • Collapse cave collision modified for ease of access when crouching.

  • Masks on wall inside cave are now dirty to prevent the idea of picking them up.

This patch addresses various feedback provided from The Descent forum and Youtube videos. Thank you for taking the time to report all your suggestions and bugs / Issues.

  • Gas Mask Modified
    [Removed dual eye mask for a traditional goggle mask due to focus problems on center of screen and reading notes.]

  • Flash Light Intensity Increased 25%
    [This helps player prefer to use the flashlight by adding more visibility]

  • Jump Removed
    [This was not used in game and caused players to try an access areas not intended for gameplay.]

  • Localization All Notes Verified + Hints

  • Settings Menu Adjusted [Removed extreme videos settings due to insignificant changes]

  • Diary Blur Fixed

  • Smoother character head camera for intro/end cinematic's
