A lot has happened in the past weeks and while Discord, Twitter and Kickstarter all received some update news, the Steam community wasn't in the loop - that's entirely on me, so here are the latest infos on the game, let's go! ːsteamhappyː - Lis from rokaplay

It's vacation season in Europe, and many of our team members are currently on a well-deserved break. As a result, there are a bit fewer news and updates this month, but after Gamescom we'll continue updating all of you as soon as we got fresh news.

[h2]Guestbook Update 📖[/h2]



Our in-game guestbook, which you can find in the shop, is almost complete! We're just waiting on a few more personalized messages from our amazing Kickstarter backers. Currently, there are still some placeholder texts in place. We’re excited to see their personal messages in the game!


[h2]Exclusive Kickstarter Outfit 👗[/h2]



For all supporters who have been eagerly awaiting the exclusive Kickstarter outfit: it’s finally fully designed and implemented in the game! We hope you have as much fun wearing it as we did creating it. But don't worry, there are other outfits to choose from as well ;)


[h2]Colorful Animals 🎨[/h2]



Another exciting feature is now also in the game: the various animal colors are fully integrated. You’ll now be able to discover animals in all sorts of vibrant color combinations on Sugardew Island – the island is truly coming to life with color!


[h2]Work in Progress: Game Intro 🎥[/h2]



We’re currently working hard on creating a captivating intro for the game. The texts and illustrations are already finished, and we’ll soon be giving you a first sneak peek. Stay tuned to see more soon!


[h2]New Decorations and Lamps 💡[/h2]



In addition, we’ve completed and implemented new decorations like floor tiles and fences into the game. The island is now even more beautiful and customizable! We’ve also added new lamps that create a wonderful nighttime ambiance. We’ll be sharing some pictures of these in the coming days – stay excited!

[h2]Early Access 🪅[/h2]

We're also currently working on the **early access version** of the game. It won't be open beta, but some Kickstarter backers will hunt down bugs and test the game, as soon as we get to it. We want to take our time to iron out all the kinks, before the games release. ːsteamhappyː

It's been a few days since our last update. We've been really busy over the past weeks, participating in various events. We hosted the "Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration 2024" on Steam 🎮. Additionally, we had to prepare material for the Pillow Fort Spring Showcase and the OTK Expo. Not to forget, we've cracked the 60,000 wishlist mark on Steam, which is absolutely insane – but let's take it one step at a time.

This year's "Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration," hosted by us at rokaplay, featured outstanding games like "Disney Dreamlight Valley" and "Dorfromantik." Sugardew Island was in the "Upcoming Games" category and gathered over 20,000 wishlists. Overall, we now have just over 60,000 people who have added our game to their wishlists. Simply incredible!

[h3]Pillow Fort Spring Showcase 🛋️[/h3]
The fantastic people at "The Pillow Fort" hosted the Pillow Fort Spring Showcase, where Sugardew Island was a major focus. We managed to include some new material in the trailer and released a small devlog. Check out the video and give it a thumbs up to support the algorithm! 👍

[h3]OTK Expo Showcase (okay, just the Pre-Showcase 😅)[/h3]
We strive to present our game to the world, which isn't easy as a small team, but we're doing our best. We applied for a spot at the OTK Expo Showcase and were initially rejected with Sugardew Island. After some pleading, we managed to get into the showcase – only the pre-show, but still! today we're back with an update to give you an insight into the current state of development and some additional information for you.

[h3]Character Editor 🎨[/h3]

The last few weeks we have been working on a Kickstarter stretch goal, the character editor. This feature was very important to many of you and of course to us, so we made sure that this goal was realized first. 🥳

You can design your character completely freely in the character editor and outfits, hairstyles and accessories are not gender locked. You can wear what you want and what you feel comfortable in.

You will get more information about which other features have been added to the game in the next update! 😊

[h3]Next Steps & New Release Slot🌻[/h3]

We are working on the implementation of the other stretch goals. Thanks to your great support and the successful Kickstarter campaign, we were able to unlock some stretch goals, but this also means more work for us in development, which is why everything is taking a little longer than initially expected.

We will probably not reach the original release date in the 2nd quarter of 2024, which is why the release date is realistically more likely to be in the 3rd quarter of this year. We hope for your understanding, because we want to use the time to provide you with a great game and realize all your well-deserved features. 🥳
