GTA Online's weekly update brings The Lost Contract and the Vectre

It's Thursday, GTA Online fans, which means another weekly update has come to the crime game's streets of Los Santos. While Rockstar won't post the full rundown of what's dropped until later in the day, fans have been taking a look now the update's here, so why wait to check it out?

As posted by Tez2 on Twitter, the Emperor Vectre sports car has now come to the game - the latest new car available following the recent launch of the GTA Online Tuners Update. This ride's a two-door sports coupe that'll set you back $1,785,000 of your in-game cash, or $1,338,750 at trade price. This week's GTA Online Prize Ride is the Futo GTX - a three-door compact sports liftback with a real retro, '80s vibe - while the new GTA Online podium car is the even more retro, '60s-style Michelli GT two-door coupe. On the test track this week, you'll find the Jester RR, Growler, and Vectre.

As for new gameplay content, this week sees The Lost Contract become available, which is a new contract mission all about tracking down some "Lost MC" meth labs and taking them out, going by its Fandom page. It's got a pretty hefty payout of $180,000 in-game bucks. Pursuit races and the Siege Mentality adversary mode are offering double rewards this week, too.

GTA mods site reportedly hit with takedown request from Take-Two

GTA mods site reportedly hit with takedown request from Take-Two

It looks like another Grand Theft Auto mod website has been hit with a series of takedown requests from Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive. Someone from the LibertyCity.net team has updated website users in a blog post that several mods have been taken down following reported DMCA strikes from the publisher.

The website has provided a list of mods that have been removed, and if you're familiar with GTA modding, you might well recognise them. There are slices of fan content that include locations from previous Grand Theft Auto games like Vice and Liberty City. While the post doesn't clarify why these mods have been removed, it does mention that all of them "were ports of the locations, cities, cars, and characters of old Rockstar Games titles on newer GTA engines". From now, they'll no longer be available on the site.

The reported takedown requests follow a series of DMCA claims elsewhere. Earlier this year reverse-engineering projects for GTA 3 and Vice City were pulled from GitHub under what appear to be similar circumstances. These projects aimed to offer a range of improvements to the old games, such as faster loading times and better controller compatibility.

GTA Online's weekly update adds the Vapid Dominator ASP car

It's Thursday, folks, and that means it's GTA Online reset day. Rockstar Games typically posts the full rundown of new discounts, content, and reward boosts on its newswire, but it all comes to the game before that, so the Los Santos citizens hop in to see what's new.

We're still getting content as part of GTA Online's recent Los Santos Tuners update, and we can add the Vapid Dominator ASP car to our garages if we so fancy. If you have the dosh handy, you can fetch it from Southern San Andreas Super Autos for around $1,775,000 GTA bucks. If you fancy taking it for a spin, it's one of three cars you can try on the test track.

Street Races and Survival matches are paying out double the usual rewards if you're looking to raise some funds. The best bonus, though, can be found in Business Battles this week, as they're paying out triple the usual rewards. If you haven't tried them before, they're a freemode event you can do as part of the After Hours update.

Take-Two boss: "we will not tolerate bad behaviour of any kind"

Take-Two boss: "we will not tolerate bad behaviour of any kind"

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained that the publisher won't "tolerate harassment or discrimination or bad behaviour of any kind" in response to shareholder questions during the company's first-quarter earnings call. In light of the recent lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, investors raised questions over how Take-Two Interactive deals with issues of diversity and harassment.

"The culture of the company is well known, and well known internally, and reasonably well known externally," Zelnick says. "All that said, we can always do better, and I think we're known to be people who always want to be doing better, and never want to rest on our laurels".

Zelnick goes on to say that he doesn't think fostering an appropriate environment is "a single set of actions or reflects one day in a news cycle". Instead, it's a constant process of introspection and improvement. "There are always ways that we in the industry can do better," he says. "We'll listen to our colleagues, and we'll work on this area over time. But I want to be very specific because you asked the question about what we do around here and what we've always done. The first is, and I'll say it in as black and white a way as I can, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination or bad behaviour of any kind. We never have."
