GTA V crash and launch bugs: all fixes as they appear

GTA V players cruising the streets of Los Santos on PC are getting caught up in the wrong sort of crashes today. Corrupt downloads are repeatedly throwing them out of the game and onto the desktop - and depending on where they bought the game, some players have wound up resorting to a complete re-download. Another bug is preventing others from completing the prologue while benchmarking.

Meanwhile, Rockstar have uncovered an installation bug during preparations for launch - though apparently not soon enough to solve it outright. Instead, they've recommended a solution for affected players.

Wow! These screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V running at minimum settings will blow you away!

Move over console gamers, you massive idiots, because the infinitely superior PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is here at long last.

That means customisable graphics settings, sliders that go all the way over, resolutions that go all the way up, and buttons that go in and out. Grand Theft Auto V on PC is a marvel of modern game design, so we've decided to put the console versions to shame by running Rockstar's blockbuster at its absolute minimum settings. That's right, we've switched off every available graphics option, dragged every slider to the left and dropped the resolution to sizes that moronic PlayStation owners could only dream of.

Take a look, and long live PC gaming.

GTA 5 graphics mod The Pinnacle of V is so pretty it will melt your GPU, eyeballs and sense of reality

I have never been fooled by a graphics mod before, but The Pinnacle of V got me. The image above is not a photograph of someone's car in LA, but a screenshot of the mod running. In its original 4K resolution you can just about see some jaggy edges and too-smooth textures, but at any human resolution it looks like a real-life still. It's something you can apply to your own GTA V installation right now.

It's also only half of what The Pinnacle of V actually does.

Now that you can get GTA 5 free, catch up on our best Grand Theft Auto reads

Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently free on Epic Store. The latest in Epic's weekly giveaways, and originally released all the way back in 2013, you might think there wasn't anyone left on the planet who hadn't yet played it - but apparently not. It's proving so popular that it's stopping people play Fortnite. (Fortnite, if you haven't heard of it, is another reasonably popular game about skydiving.)

If you're one of the people out there who has yet to experienced the joy of Michael, Trevor, and Brad's extensive misadventures, you're in for a treat. And even if you already have, there's no harm in diving back in for a second - or third - helping. After all of that's in the bag there's GTA Online beyond the main story to enjoy, too - it's a game that keeps on giving.

With all that in mind, then, we've collected together some of our favourite pieces on GTA V and GTA Online from over the years, including guides, features, and some very interesting interviews.

Hands on with GTA V on PC: the "ultimate" port

Rockstar have sold 41 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V. 41 million. That's an unbelievable number. It also makes talking about the upcoming PC version of the game somewhat difficult.

The game has been rinsed: every car, every mission, every location, every little detail has been examined and dissected at length on YouTube, on forums, and on sites all over the web.

All that's left to say is this: Rockstar repeatedly call the PC version the "ultimate" or "definitive" version of the game.

And after playing it on a truly monstrous PC - an i7 with 16 Gb RAM running dual GeForce 980s, driving a 4K monitor at 60 frames-per-second, I think they've got a point.
