GTA Online's Los Santos Summer Special update goes live

A sizable update for GTA Online has just gone live that adds new vehicles, co-op missions, revamped Business Battles, and an editor so you can make your own Open Wheel races. Rockstar has named it the Los Santos Summer Special, and detailed the contents of the update here. There are quite a few rides included, from shiny sports cars like the Lampadati Tigonto, to the F1-style supercar Declasse DR1, and if you head to a mod shop you'll find a bunch of new wheels to enhance them with. More exciting perhaps are the new co-op missions, accessible from your superyacht (you do have a superyacht?) that will give you a "glimpse of life in the captain’s chair." Play 'em online or with some friends in your quest for "nautical vengeance", with the promise of a unique maritime outfit after finishing all six. The game's Formula One-style Open Wheel races have been improved with nine additional races, visible tire wear on the cars, and the introduction of indicators to make you aware of body damage. There's a new editor as well that will let you make your own races. Business Battles have been similarly adjusted in today's update, with bigger rewards on offer if you manage to succeed. Remember QUB3D, the arcade game from GTA IV? Well it's back, in Online form, along with Axe of Fury—a test of strength. The two new arcade cabinets have been dotted around the city, while Street Crimes: Gang Wars has been tweaked a bit so a single player can play it against the AI. You'll find a few additional collectibles and clothes in the update too, along with a handful of fixes. It's a big ol' update, but there's more to come this year from GTA Online. A couple of weeks ago, Rockstar teased its "biggest ever update", which will add new heists set in "entirely new location". GTA Online Solomon collectibles: Find all movie props

GTA 5 podium car: here's what vehicle you can win in GTA Online for week 45

What is the GTA 5 podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone.

You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once a day, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, though, as you can win something else. You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP.

Keeping tabs on the GTA Online podium car can be a bother, though, so we're going to keep this GTA 5 guide updated so you have somewhere to check back on. On that note, here's the GTA 5 podium car for this week.

GTA 5 sales got a record-setting boost from the Epic Store giveaway

If you're a fan of free PC games - and who isn't? - then the Epic Games Store has been providing a regular source of solid freebies. None of those have been bigger than the free release of Grand Theft Auto V, and that giveaway had no negative effect on GTA 5's ridiculous sales, In fact, publisher Take-Two says the promotion helped GTA reach ever higher sales numbers.

GTA 5 sold through more units during the first quarter of Take-Two's financial year - meaning April 1 through June 30 - than in any other first quarter since launch. The six weeks following the Epic Store giveaway also had more GTA 5 sales than the same period in any previous years. Take-Two says the Epic promotion was a "contributing factor" to the sales success.

Total sales of GTA 5 have now reached 135 million, as Take-Two says during its latest financial results call, up from 130 million during the last financial report three months ago.

GTA Online's best anti-troll gun is on sale

GTA Online is running some specials this week connected to its Survival Series and Arena War modes, and it's your chance to pick up one of the action-adventure game's best anti-troll guns at a discount. The Up-n-Atomizer is 35% off its usual GTA$399,000, meaning you can pick your own space ray gun up for a cool GTA$259K. Here's why you should do it.

As GameStar points out, the Up-n-Atomizer, which was introduced during the Festive Surprise 2018 event, doesn't actually do a lot of damage, but it has other qualities that make it an invaluable tool to have in your kit-bag. You see, cheaters using various hacks often don't care about how much damage your weapons do because they're using god mode options found in mod menus. Thus, conventional weapons are typically useless against them.

That's where the Up-n-Atomizer comes in. This space age pistol emits a strong burst of energy that pushes players or vehicles back with a significant amount of force. God mode may protect cheaters from being physically damaged by the beam, but it doesn't keep them from being ragdolled by its physics effects - meaning you can make sure they're having just as bad a day as they were hoping to inflict on you.
