The biggest question GTA 6 has to answer is: what to do about GTA Online?

When first I played GTA Online back in the Xbox 360 days it felt like an afterthought, a chance to play some random good-for-nothing in GTA 5's sizzling alt-Los Angeles, securely cloistered away from the events of the all-important singleplayer story. Having built yourself a no-name crim, you galloped around cranking out cash and XP by means of glorified sidequests handed down by headliners such as Lamar. Skip forward to 2023, and as Alice0 observed when we discussed Rockstar's GTA 6 announcements this morning, GTA Online is effectively an MMO with ten years of updates, expansions and community projects under its belt. The no-name crim has become the star attraction.

Will GTA 5's Michael return in GTA 6? His voice actor is keeping things mysterious

With a reveal of the long-awaited GTA 6 potentially imminent, the voice actor behind GTA 5’s Michael has responded to a fan asking whether the character could be in for a return in the series’ next entry in rather coy fashion.

Following a report that claimed Rockstar could be planning to announce the game as soon as this week, before putting out a trailer in December, chatter about the game among fans on social media has naturally reached fever pitch. Some have even gone as far as wondering aloud whether their favourite characters from previous GTAs might play some kind of role in the new game.

One such fan on Twitter has asked actor Ned Luke, who provided the dulcet tones of GTA 5’s Michael De Santa, whether Los Santos’ most infamous angry dad will be coming back in some fashion in GTA 6. Luke decided to respond by simply declaring: “It’s a mystery”, followed by five star emojis.

GTA 5 players refused to get their hopes up for a GTA 6 reveal... until today

While reports about an imminent GTA6 reveal are swarming around the internet, there remain some GTAV players who refuse to get their hopes up. For these sorry few who've been burned before, only an official statement from Rockstar itself will get them excited.

This kind of cautious rhetoric can be found throughout community hubs for Grand Theft Auto, such as Reddit, where the reports of GTA6's imminent announcement were spread far and wide.

"Even still... I won't believe it till I see's it!" states user 8deftones6 on their post to the GTA Online Reddit, where much discussion on the potential reveal is taking place. This is a sentiment echoed by numerous other posters who find themselves keeping hype in check. The top reply, written by user mebeingnosy, is equally to the point: "I’m not getting my hopes up until I hear something from Rockstar themselves."

GTA 6 trailer set for December, following announcement in days, claims report

Rockstar plans to announce the highly-anticipated GTA 6 “as early as this week” with a trailer to follow before the year is out, a new report claims.

Said report, from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, cites sources familiar with the publisher’s plans as having said that the game could be announced before this week is out. The report also suggests that such an announcement will be followed-up by a GTA 6 trailer in December.

The latter would coincide with the Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, making for a pretty stylish way to celebrate hitting that milestone, if indeed it does come to pass. The proposed schedule would also closely mirror GTA 5’s reveal timing-wise, with that game having been officially announced on November 3, 2011.
