GTA 5 car meets: everything you need to know about the new Los Santos Tuners event

Grand Theft Auto 5 is now eight years old, and during that time, players have built up an impressive collection of cars. From the slick super cars to the drop dead gorgeous classics, GTA 5 players have spent an obscene amount of money on pimping their cars - and they naturally want to show them off.

Introducing GTA 5 car meets. Up until now, car meets in Los Santos have been happening in an unofficial capacity, allowing petrolheads to come together to show off their latest upgrades. However, since these are unofficial events, players have either had to go in passive mode or risk having their entire line up blown up by someone in a Hydra.

But the risk of attending one of these events has been lowered with the upcoming GTA Online Summer Event. Rockstar's next update for the game includes the Los Santos Car Meet, giving fans a proper way of channeling their inner Fast and Furious.

GTA Online's summer update is out next week

Los Santos will feel much busier when next week rolls around as Rockstar Games is releasing GTA Online's summer update on July 20. This one is called Los Santos Tuners, and it's all about the city's underground racing scene.

Alongside new Tuner-based missions and races, you're also getting something called the LS Car Meet. It's a vast, shared social space where you can go with your favourite personal car to meet other like-minded motorheads. You can hang out, race, and meet with "shady contacts looking for skilled drivers and a chance at easy money". I'll count myself out, then.

You'll start things up by going to a nondescript, graffitied warehouse on the edge of town in Cypress Flats to find the LS Car Meet. Once you're there, you can drop $50,000 in-game bucks to get a membership that comes with a pass you can upgrade with reputation points for new goodies after each level. You can earn reputation points by participating in races, daily login bonuses, using the test track, and even just hanging out with pals at the car meet.

GTA Online's new cars will be exclusively upgradable on PS5 and Xbox Series

Grand Theft Auto Online's new summer event is just around the corner and it's good news for petrolheads. GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners introduces official car meets into the game, along with new cars, new races, and more.

Although the news of official GTA 5 car meets is enough to get excited about, Rockstar has also announced it's introducing 17 more vehicles into the game, and boy, do they look great. The first ten will drop with the event launch on July 20 and include some tasty import tuner cars, with the following seven to be dropped later this summer.

But that's not all. These cars, which already sound like they're pretty speedy, can be upgraded exclusively by Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players when the GTA 5 upgrade is released later this year.

GTA Online's weekly update adds seven new Survival modes

It's that time of the week, folks. Thursday is reset day in GTA Online, so all your usual favourites are dipping into Los Santos to see if there are any good ways to make dosh or any deals worth snapping up on a new car. Rockstar Games will have an official rundown on its Newswire later, but the updates are already here, so there's no need to wait.

It looks like we're getting some new content this week as players are stumbling across seven new Survival modes. We had some idea this was coming, as Rockstar revealed plans for new races as well as Deadline and Survival modes earlier this year. You'll also find that all Survival modes are offering double the usual rewards to mark introduction of the new maps.

If Survival modes aren't your thing, though, you'll also find that all freemode events are offering triple the usual rewards. You'll need four people in your lobby for these to happen, so make sure you've met the requirement to avoid awkwardly hanging around.
