GTA Online's weekly update brings diamonds back as Casino loot

It's Thursday, GTA Online fans, but it's no ordinary one, going by what this week's update has brought to the open-world game. Each week we see a patch usher in a new set of changes - extra rewards, prize rides, discounts, and that kind of thing - but it looks like this week is a special one, as it's all about that popular Diamond Casino Heist - and diamonds are back as loot. Let's take a look.

The official Rockstar Games newswire post isn't live yet, but Tez2 tweets that this week's patch has brought diamonds back as casino loot. Typically, the Casino Heist's payout will net you up to $2.1 million in-game bucks, but when diamonds are on offer you'll get the chance to nab considerably more - so it's easy to see why it's always exciting when they make a return to the vault.

Elsewhere, the theme continues in the bonus rewards that are up for grabs this week. While this update's live, you'll earn triple GTA$ and RP on the game's Diamond adversary mode series, and double rewards on Casino story and free-mode missions, as well as the Drop Zone adversary mode.

GTA and Red Dead could endure as long as James Bond, says CEO

The Grand Theft Auto series is over 24 years old already and the Red Dead series is 17 years old, but the CEO of their publisher Take-Two thinks these franchises have what it takes to be as long-lasting as the James Bond series - with Grand Theft Auto V itself already eight years old at this point.

A quick reminder that the James Bond movie series is almost 60 years old at this point - far older if we count the original novels - from 1962's Dr. No up to this year's No Time To Die. Grand Theft Auto 1 launched on PC in 1997 and the oft-forgotten Red Dead Revolver came out in 2004.

Speaking during this week's Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference (transcribed by VGC), Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the longevity of its franchises - what with this week's troubled release of the GTA Trilogy remasters. Zelnick praised the James Bond movie series for its endurance and said they "would like every franchise to be James Bond."

GTA Trilogy was pulled due to "unintentionally included" files

The release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was supposed to be a happy event celebrating the remasters of three of the best open-world games ever made, but shortly after that release the Rockstar Games Launcher went down and GTA Trilogy PC was pulled from sale - which is apparently due to "unintentionally included" files that may have been songs.

The remastered Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas - was released yesterday and things didn't go very well at all for the PC version. Aside from raising eyebrows due to these PS2 games having higher system requirements than last year's Red Dead Redemption 2, the Rockstar Games Launcher - which the remastered trilogy is exclusive to after Rockstar pulled the originals from Steam - went down immediately and was offline for a day.

At the same time, Rockstar also pulled the GTA Trilogy PC version from sale without explanation - which it now says is because it is removing "files unintentionally included in these versions".

GTA Online weekly update brings triple rewards on Deluxo races

It's Thursday, GTA Online fans, so we all know what that means. The open-world game's latest weekly patch has dropped with a new round of bonus rewards, GTA Online prize ride, discounts, and more. The official newswire post from Rockstar isn't here just yet, but fans are reporting on what's new, so let's take a look.

This week's bonus rewards go to GTA Online's Deluxo races - a series of four stunt races based on the retro-style Deluxo vehicle class, called Cresting, Raton Race, Stadium Flyover, and Techno. While this week's update is live, you'll be able to grab three times the usual $GTA and RP for completing these. Act Three of the Doomsday Scenario and Special Vehicle Work also carry bonus rewards this week, with these handing out double the regular in-game bucks and RP. There's additionally a 50% speed boost on bunker research this week.

The latest Prize Ride is the Sultan RS Classic - a two-door sports sedan that comes as part of the Los Santos Tuners update - which you can nab if you rack up 12 top-five spots in the Street Race series.

November is heist month in GTA Online - earn bonus rewards for original heists

Tired of the Cayo Perico heist? You and I both, buddy. Thankfully if you want to make some decent profit this month Rockstar has kicked off Heist month, a limited-time event that applies bonus rewards to a selection of classic heists. If you're looking for some extra justification to jump back to some older content, or just want to add some variation to your nefarious routine, this is a great opportunity to do so without feeling like you're being inefficient.

Remaining active throughout the month of November, players who complete any of the five original heists (The Fleeca Job, Prison Break, Humane Labs Raid, Series A Funding, The Pacific Standard Job) will earn double the usual cash reward. If you’ve got nothing planned this weekend, completing all but The Fleeca Job before November 8 will earn an extra $500,000.

As an extra bonus to sweeten the deal, completing The Fleeca Job will earn you special livery for the Übermacht Cypher, so petrol heads will want to snatch that before it’s gone!
