It's that time of the week again, GTA Online fans. A new update has hit the multiplayer crime game's servers, and the good folk of Los Santos are having a look around to see what's new for this week's drop. Rockstar Games will post the full rundown on its newswire later today, but with the update's goodies, discounts, and new podium car now live, why wait for a look-see?
In the multiplayer game's new weekly update you're getting the chance to scoop up double the rewards for GTA Online's Arena War modes. In case you need a refresher, these are the series of (primarily PvP) missions introduced with the game's 2018 Arena War content update, which play out in the huge Maze Bank Arena, and feature a bunch of weapon devices and traps to use to emerge victorious.
This week, the modes will hand out double GTA$, RP, and arena points - the latter being for the Arena War-specific experience system, which you can use to grab some rewards if you have an arena workshop. Additionally, GTA Online's Rhino Hunt adversary mode and Special Vehicle Work missions will also be dishing out double GTA$ and RP this week.

Rockstar pays $10k to the modder who fixed GTA Online's ridiculous load times
GTA Online's weekly update brings double rewards for putting up with Lamar

Grand Theft Auto V's load times are ridiculous. That's true of GTA V proper, and it's extra true of GTA Online. One modder discovered a way to reduce those loading times by 70%, and it seems Rockstar has taken notice - thankfully, this time it's not just to shut down the mod in question. Instead, that loading time fix is getting officially implemented in an upcoming patch.
In the most basic terms, t0st reported that there's a single-thread CPU bottleneck when GTA Online starts loading up, and the game spends ages reading redundant information from a JSON file that doesn't have much reason to exist. In his original findings, t0st wrote: "If this somehow reaches Rockstar: the problems shouldn't take more than a day for a single dev to solve. Please do something about it."
In a new update to that post, t0st says he "just got awarded $10k" through Rockstar's bug bounty programme, which is normally used only for major security issues. t0st adds that "I did try asking for more technical details but they couldn't say anything."

GTA Online's weekly update brings double rewards for putting up with Lamar

It's Thursday in Los Santos, which means GTA Online players are mulling around to see if there's anything decent in the crime game's weekly update. Rockstar Games will have its usual roundup up on its newswire later today, but the update has already gone live, so, uh, why wait?
This week you're getting double rewards for doing Lamar Davids' contact missions, which is excellent news for those of you who are a fan of the recent Franklin roast memes. Lamar's missions are a good time and almost heist-like. That said, they don't pay the best in terms of dosh, so hopefully, this week will make them more worth your time. If you fancy switching things up, Martin Madrazo's contact missions are also paying out double rewards, and offer the same kind of experience you get with Lamar, just - you know - without Lamar's nonsense.
There are more ways to make better money in GTA Online this week, too. Business Battles and Transform Races are paying out double their usual rewards. The former is a freemode event that involves nicking cargo, whereas the latter is a variant of GTA Online's stunt races.

GTA 5 modders are turning the Mile High Club construction site into DLC
GTA 5 cheats - PC console commands for GTA V

For close to eight years, Grand Theft Auto 5's Mile High Club has remained unfinished. The skyscraper's skeletal structure looms over the Pillbox South Station of Los Santos Transit, and it'll likely stay that way for a while longer. While GTA Online has seen the Diamond Casino open its doors and Cayo Perico become a far-off destination for robbers, GTA 5's offline offering has mostly remained untouched. It's a scenario that begs the attention of modders.
One group of players have banded together to complete the Mile High Club's construction, and it's clear they have big ideas. The project's lead architect, Kalit, tells me that it all started as a small side project meant to help them grow familiar with modelling environments for videogames. Close to a year later, though, and a completed version of the Mile High Club is now a slice of something much larger.
Rags and Riches is a piece of fan-made DLC that fleshes out the Mile High Club and Facade Theatre's interiors and exteriors. The mod also features story missions that whisk you away to new locations that the team has stitched together. You can tackle those missions as Michael, Trevor, Franklin, or a version of yourself if you want a GTA Online-like experience. Plenty is being kept under wraps right now, though we know that new weapons and vehicles are also in the works. It's currently available on Patreon, but a free version will be free when the mod is done.
