GTA Online weekly update adds new car the Weeny Issi Rally

Another GTA Online weekly update is upon us, and the week of January 26 - February 1 brings with it a new car, the Weeny Issi Rally, along with bonuses to the Arena War mode. There are also plenty of bonus rewards and other prize vehicles to be gained in the GTA 5 online multiplayer game.

Rockstar aim to fix GTA Online's current security problems in upcoming Title update


A fix is on the way for the security vulnerabilities discovered earlier this week in Grand Theft Auto Online, Rockstar have said today. Players began efforts to alert Rockstar to the issues en masse over the weekend, after some nefarious types took advantage of the issues to disrupt the game for other people. Rockstar Support have tweeted that a security-related update is coming, but didn't give a specific timeframe for it yet.

Series developer Rockstar has acknowledged the recent increase in player-threatening hacks in GTA Online, which can seemingly let hackers remotely add, remove, or modify your own stats in the multiplayer game. The prevailing advice from GTA Online content creators is to avoid playing the game on PC altogether, as Rockstar promises it is doing something about the issue.

Things appear to be especially bad right now, though, as players are warning of "extreme exploits" that are apparently severe enough for the creator of one of the most popular anti-cheat solutions to suggest players stop playing the game altogether until it's resolved.

Playing Grand Theft Auto V on PC right now could put your computer at risk

It is not currently safe to play Grand Theft Auto V on PC, thanks to an exploit that allows hackers to execute code remotely and modify other players' PC files. While Rockstar is aware of this issue, it has yet to be fixed as of writing.

This exploit came to light late last week, with the full extent of its danger shared online over the weekend. Those affected have had their GTA V account “corrupted”, although the risks could become far more severe. This doesn’t just apply to GTA Online either, those who stick to the story mode are also at risk.

For an idea of what your account getting corrupted actually means, the video linked below shows a player stuck in the top-down loading screen when attempting to go online. You’ll be stuck like this indefinitely, soft locking your account. You can apparently fix this from deleting your Rockstar Games folder from your documents, but even so, it’s best to say clear.
