GTA Online: The Chop Shop Now Available

Collaborate with illustrious Liberty City real estate mogul and auto enthusiast Yusuf Amir on his newest venture, stealing the most coveted vehicles in Los Santos across a series of daring robberies in GTA Online: The Chop Shop.

Today’s update also includes a new illicit business property, an assortment of new vehicles, new Drift Races, and much more.

THE SALVAGE YARD

Behind the peeling facade of Red’s Auto Parts lies the untapped potential of a sophisticated robbery operation. Combined with your skills and Yusuf’s eye for exotic automobiles, the new Salvage Yard business serves as the perfect front. It’s low-key enough not to attract suspicion from the authorities, yet equipped with everything you’ll need to pull off breathtaking robberies of the most in-demand vehicles across Southern San Andreas.

Answer the call from Yusuf to get started. Owning the Salvage Yard cuts you in on Yusuf and his cousin Jamal’s plans for robberies, accessible from your Salvage Yard’s Planning Wall. Each one features a special target that requires thorough planning prior to successfully boosting it.

Once a vehicle is acquired, put your chop shop’s lifts to good use and break down the vehicles to be salvaged for valuable parts over time. Instant gratification is also always an option: sell off stolen vehicles for a lump sum by safely dropping them off at the docks to be shipped in a cargo container to Yusuf. Try not to scratch the paint job or wheel-wells on your way there.

There are five Salvage Yard properties to choose from, whether you’re operating remotely from Paleto Bay or getting valuable, central real estate in Strawberry. The Salvage Yard also features optional upgrades including Trade Rates, which extend your chop shop connections to a special discount when requesting destroyed vehicles from Mors Mutual or repairing vehicles in any custom shop. Upgrade the yard with a Tow Truck, allowing you to tow designated delinquent vehicles back to the Salvage Yard for another source of auto parts.

BOLD NEW ROBBERIES

Stealing this caliber of car in Los Santos will be no simple feat. Jamal’s operation involves robberies and a weekly rotation of target vehicles that Yusuf is fixing his sights on for his collection. Each robbery entails scoping out some initial intel, completing Preps and new Freemode Tasks, and culminates in a high-speed Finale.

While you’ll be able to recognize the target vehicle by its flashy customized license plate, these robbery plans will require a wide range of techniques and skills, disguises and undercover work, hacking and disabling countermeasures, as well as reliable driving abilities and split-second decision-making in the heat of the chase.

Salvage Yard Robberies — in addition to all the new activities in GTA Online: The Chop Shop — also come with their own slate of Daily Challenges and Pause Menu Awards.

NEW VEHICLES

GTA Online: The Chop Shop brings a convoy of shining new vehicles to choose from, including the dazzling new Turismo Omaggio super car from Grotti, a multi-purpose SUV with Imani Tech capabilities, a stylish convertible and SUV, and more.

• Grotti Turismo Omaggio (Super) – Imani Tech compatible
• Declasse Vigero ZX Convertible (Muscle)
• Fathom FR36 (Coupe)
• Vapid Aleutian (SUV) – Imani Tech compatible
• Vapid Dominator GT (Muscle)
• Karin Vivanite (SUV)
• Declasse Impaler LX (Muscle)
• Karin Asterope GZ (Sedan)

Today’s update also brings newfound automotive underworld connections that will grant you the ability to purchase and own highly desirable, off-the-grid Law Enforcement Vehicles.

These will not be easy to acquire though, and will require you to go above and beyond the law when committing Salvage Yard Robberies before you can obtain them. Survive and lose Wanted Levels, scope out robberies, and go deep into the criminal underworld to unlock access and Trade Prices for the Vapid Stanier LE Cruiser, Police Riot, and Unmarked Cruiser.

NEW DRIFT RACES AND HANDLING KITS

Lean into those hairpin turns and over-rotate your tires in pursuit of the perfect amount of angle in Drift Races, utilizing specialized drift tuning kits for the new Fathom FR36 (Coupe) along with seven previously released vehicles.

Rather than just the usual race to the finish, this mode awards crucial Drift Points based on a combination of criteria, including bonuses for Precision Drift and your final racing position. String together a series of shorter swerving turns to build a multi-chain mega drift or push the limits to try and reach the ultimate status of Drift God.

Watch out for obstacles though, as love-tapping a lamppost could cost you your current multiplier. Whoever finishes with the most Drift Points wins. Drift Races are available to all LS Car Meet members, and take place across seven classic Los Santos destinations, including Legion Square, Vespucci Beach, the Vinewood Hills, Mirror Park, and more.

NEW BATTLE RIFLE AVAILABLE

Is that the merry jangle of the Gun Van rolling into town? Rock up and check out the new Battle Rifle, the latest in precision shooting, fresh off the forge and into your arsenal. Also available at the Armory inside your Agency.

Hold the phone, GTA Online's latest update is actually about, well, Grand Theft Auto

You won’t believe it, but GTA Online’s latest update revolves around you getting into the business of actually stealing cars. Don’t panic, it also includes some you can buy legally, like the upstanding citizen you’ve become.

Yup, if you’ve been looking for an excuse to hop back into the large amorphous online blob that was once a part of GTA 5, but has since kind of morphed into something quite unique and deeply terrifying following that hype-inducing GTA 6 trailer, it looks like you’re in luck. That is, if you don’t mind doing a bit of stealy wheely automobiley and putting up with the most obnoxious character from GTA 4’s The Ballad of Gay Tony.

The update, dubbed “The Chop Shop”, allows you to “collaborate with illustrious Liberty City real estate mogul and auto enthusiast Yusuf Amir on his newest venture, stealing the most coveted vehicles in Los Santos across a series of daring robberies”.

First of all, after giving the trailer an initial just watch to take in the magic, York shares a bit of a glimpse into what it feels like to work on a GTA games as a developer. “When I worked on [GTA 5], I knew that it was going to be something special,” he says. “As you’re working on the game and working on different cutscenes at in-game scenes as an animator, you can just kinda get a feel for it. Everyone [else] doesn’t know yet that the game is going to be so cool, and that’s how they are feeling right now over there at Rockstar.”
