Update Notes for February 24, 2025

- FIX: Uses a new approach to temporary files to hopefully make save files more robust when using aggressive virus scanners
- FIX: Uses more complete Godot builds which might help compatibility for some people.
- FIX: Cursor keys moved between evidence when in the notebook and editing text.
- FIX: Pressing a button on the main menu in 16:10 had a black box behind it
- UX: More tweaks for non-English language support
- Fixes one "occurence" of a typo. Get it? It should have been "occurrence."

Update Notes for February 20, 2025

- This build adds some safety to game threading code, to try and help out with an issue that some players are having where their saves are corrupted.
- It also contains some basic scaffolding for other language support (coming soon!)
- Finally, fixes exactly 1 typo.

Update Notes for February 17, 2025

Just a small update today with some small fixes.

  • Removed some background details from a couple illustrations in Roottreemania that brought dates into question.
  • Improved the game's Danish by adding a ø - if this didn't count as a typo there would be none!
  • Fixed a bug where the mouse cursor would turn to the hourglass while changing settings
  • Fixed a bug where you could swap extra portraits for prefilled family tree entries in Roottreemania, and end up with a locked in ? icon. Now you can't do that anymore (it was the easiest fix.)

Update Notes for February 13, 2025

  • FEATURE: You can now add up to 20 pages in your notebook. It turns out some of our players are absolutely sickos for note taking and I wanted to enable that behavior.
  • FEATURE: You can choose the locked in portrait for a person. Click on an extra portrait and it'll swap.
  • FEATURE: You can now search Periodicals from the pop-up menu in the browser, evidence, or notebook. By default, this will pre-fill the "Keywords" box with what you highlighted and allow you to choose the periodical from the dropdown to search it. If you have "Search All" Periodicals enabled, though, it will automatically do that.
  • UX: Copy was missing from the notebook popup menu. It's in there now.
  • UX: Slightly nicer formatting for checkboxes that have descriptions in settings.
  • FIX: On a 16:10 screen, with the notebook open, the PC screen was cut off somewhat.
  • And, of course...
There once was a writer so keen,
Whose fingers were quick and lean,
But try as he might,
Many words weren't right,
Typos danced all over the screen!

Update Notes for February 11, 2025

- New setting to enable searching "All Periodicals": This is a much requested feature but also makes some puzzles easier, so it is defaulted to off. Players who find it frustrating to search every periodical for the same thing can turn it on and search much faster.
- New setting to disable intuition: This is a for hardcore detectives who want no leads at all. It's default off.
- Settings has now been split into several screens. It was too much to fit on one screen!
- Fixed a bug where the Newspaper on the title screen looked bad on a 16:10 screen.
- Fixed a bug where the Zoom +/- buttons were visible during cutscenes.
- Would this even be an update without any typo fixes?
