Ale Abbey is a beer-brewing Stardew Valley with a new Steam demo

Beer is hot right now. Well, not literally, but it is a popular theme in gaming, with a fair few tavern simulators making the rounds at the moment. Stepping away from games that ask you to build your own inn or bar and serving customers yourself is Ale Abbey, which is taking a much more monastic approach to beer. If that sounds like your tipple of choice, it's got a new Steam demo, meaning you can try it out for yourself.

Brewmaster's code #5 - The many uses of a good pint

Your maltiness,
Being a good brewer is something, but do not forget an Abbey has some duties to fill as well. Your beer is not just for sale, and some might expect some generosity from you

Today’s topic - The many uses of a good pint
Rewarding the hard work

After working so hard for you, it is logical that your monks and nuns will want to be rewarded. Thus, it is important that you give them their share of the ale.
In the cellar, you'll be able to mark a few barrels for their personal use, which will keep them... happy for a while!
Staying out of trouble

As well as being a spiritual matter, beer is an object of desire for some, and they'll steal it at the first opportunity! These bandits can be difficult to deal with, but it can also be rewarding if you're good at it.

By giving them beer (before they have time to steal it from your convoy), you'll keep them happy and on your side for a while! This allows you to have convoys protected by your fellow criminals. Of course, money will also do the trick, but if you have the ability to brew beer, you should not let it go to waste!
Doing good deeds

All the previous uses were quite utilitarian. But the Hops knows that a good pint is a pint with those who need it the most.

One day, pilgrims may pass by your abbey and ask for hospitality, but above all for Ale. The more you can do to meet their needs, the more you'll get in return! While this type of service doesn't have a monetary value, it is a way for you to gain more intangible treasures. It could be knowledge you don't have, an ale recipe you don't know, or even fame!

Now that you know what to expect, make sure you have some beers in the cellar for your guests! That's it for today, if you have any questions on this or any other topic related to the Abbey, post them below and we'll be sure to answer them!

Have a great day your Maltiness!

Brewmaster's code #4 - The abbey and its people

Your maltiness, congratulations on mastering the brewing process! That said, don’t let the pursuit of liquid enlightenment blind you to the material realm.
The building you handle and the folks who work for you are the key to the prosperity of your place. That is why it is our next lesson!

Today’s topic - The abbey and its people
The Abbey

The abbey serves as the central hub of your operation and the home of your monk. To keep your monks content, you must maintain a certain level of comfort via different ways. Mostly furniture to better your room. Adequate lighting, good heating, and a clean environment will all be needed.

Although the Abbey’s beginning is humble, you'll have the opportunity to expand with enough fame.
The brewers

The monks and Nuns are your dedicated workforce. Brewer of the ale, researcher for the abbey and maker of the great recipes, they are the heart of your Abbey. To work at their best, they deserve proper treatment. Be sure that they get good rest and a hearty soup to maintain their well-being!

Each monk possesses specific skills that make them valuable in the abbey. Be sure to place them where they work best!
The other workers

The role of the Laymen/women in the Abbey is crucial for your brewers. They are the monastery's muscle and bring the raw material from the Merchant to the Brewery. You will also find them building the new rooms and taking away the finished brew. You will have a limited number of them working for you and they can't be everywhere at all times.

While they might be considered secondary, they will for sure become slowly vital! Be sure that they are treated with as much love as their fellow brewers!
