Krita 4.4.2 Released!

Hello again, Krita community.

Today we're pleased to bring you a new version of Krita, 4.4.2, packed full of bug fixes, improvements, and even some cool new features like Mesh Transforms, Gradient Fill Layers, a better Halftone Filter, and more. As always, you can read about all of the details and see examples in our official patch notes.

Finally, because Krita is completely open source and community-driven we rely on the support of users like you to make these new versions. On behalf of the whole Krita community and development team, I'd like to thank you all for supporting Krita on Steam, thus contributing a major part of the projects development budget and making an investment in the future of accessible digital art tools for people all over the world.

We very literally could not do this without you!

(And, for those of you who are interested in continuing to support Krita's development, please stay tuned throughout 2021 for the launch of our official development fund.)

Krita 4.4 Beta Available

Hi all, hope you're doing well.

I just want to quickly let you know that we've published Krita 4.4 Beta 1 to the "beta" branch on Steam. You can opt into this beta by going to Krita>Properties>Betas and selecting "beta".

There are quite a few neat new features and fixes, and you can find out more right here: https://krita.org/en/krita-4-4-0-release-notes/

Krita 4.3.0 Is Out Now!

Hey Steam, Emmet here once again to deliver a much needed dose of good news! Ahhh, good news, sweet, sweet good news!

We're back again to celebrate the release of Krita 4.3.0, the latest and greatest version of the universe's #1 free, open source and community-driven tool for artists, illustrators, animators, and sourdough bakers (maybe...).

Thanks to the generous support of our community, including those who have chipped in by supporting us right here on Steam, we have more people working more hours on Krita than ever before and with great results: 4.3.0 comes with better performance, way less bugs, and a handful of nifty features to help you create the art that you are here to make!

For a quick summary of the changes, definitely check out the good old patch notes. And, if you'd rather kick back and relax, our friend Ramon Miranda has put together a great patch video which highlights some of the key changes in this new release.

I've said it so many times, I know you guys are getting sick of hearing it, but the truth must be told! Krita is now and will forever be a free, open source and community-driven tool for artists everywhere. No matter who we are, where we grew up, the amount of money we have in the bank, the color of our skin, our gender, our lifestyle, or who we happen to be--Krita is, by its very nature, one of those things that belongs to us all and, hopefully, empowers us all to create whatever art speaks to us.

It sounds lofty because it kind of is. That's what makes Krita different, and it's what makes Krita, Krita!

But none of this would be possible with the ongoing support of users like you. Every dollar, every bug report, every suggestion, every patch and every encouraging word that we receive from our amazing community is channeled right back into Krita's development, making Krita that much better, bit by bit.

And for that, as a fellow Krita user first and developer second, I just can't thank you all enough. I hope that you enjoy Krita 4.3.0 and share your creations with the world, because the way I see it, art, fun and community are some of the things that we all need right now.
- Emmet

PS: Don't forget to share your artwork over on Krita-Artists too!

PPS: Next up... Krita 5!

Krita 4.3.0 Beta 2 Released.

Hey again everybody, just another quick update.

Today we've pushed Krita 4.3.0 beta 2 to the opt-in beta branch. It includes a few more fixes and tweaks from the last beta and brings us one step close to the release of Krita 4.3.0!

If you've already opted into the beta branch then your Krita should automatically update, and if you haven't tried it yet you can join the test by right clicking on Krita in your steam library, opening the "properties" menu, selecting the "betas" tab and selecting the "beta" branch from the drop down menu.

As always, the beta test helps us to find and squash any bugs that may exist before releasing our newest stable release, so if you run into any issues please let us know and we will get to work as soon as possible on fixing anything that pops up. Finally, I recommend that you avoid doing important work in the beta branch, as it is still potentially unstable.

Anyway, give 4.3.0 beta 2 a try and let us know what you think.
