Confirmed: EA are being sold to investment group led by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake and Jared Kushner for estimated $55 billion

Update: Well, that escalated quickly. Following rumours over the weekend, EA have confirmed that an investor consortium consisting of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, equity firm Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners have acquired the Battlefield 6 publisher in an all-cash transaction that values EA at around $55 billion. The consortium will buy 100% of EA and take it private, with the PIF rolling in their existing 9.9% stake in the publisher.

EA have put out a press release featuring various hyperbolic remarks from the likes of EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who will stay on in his position. EA will also continue to be based in Redwood City, California. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027 - in other words, at some point between January and March, once it has been granted the usual regulatory approvals and voted through by EA's shareholders.

Along the way, you'll play as every member of Dagger 13, utilizing their individual specializations to defeat the enemy in every battle.

Battlefield 6's latest campaign trailer boulderly teases a fight for "the most strategic rock in the history of warfare"

After claiming they've invented "the most dangerous ring in gaming" earlier this month, EA and DICE have released a fresh Battlefield 6 campaign trailer that sees a soldier bloke deploy yet another 'the most something in something' line. Yep, amid a bunch of the usual militarying about, a man teases a battle over "the most strategic rock in the history of warfare".

Maybe it's just because there was far less helicopter boomage in this look at the conflict between Dagger 13 and evil private goons Pax Armata, but the line's struck me. Stop shouting about the CIA for five minutes, Battlefield trailerfolk, we need to delve into rock history.

Steam's latest client beta has given you another way to quickly check whether you've got secure boot enabled before you hop into some FPSsing about. Enabling the setting's become mandatory for the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6, as the possibly futile war on cheating continues to rage like, er, well, you know.

It's a controversial way of going about trying to limit the amout of fraudulent 360 no-scopes, as it involves publishers mandating an aspect of how players' hardware's used, if a pretty easy one to check with a trip to your BIOS if you know what you're doing. Not everyone's used to delving into those settings though, which is why it's nice Valve have made this useful addition to their game playing place.
