The Witcher 3 REDkit Modding Contest — Challenge #2: Show us your moves

Speaking of moving — in this challenge, you will become the NPC puppeteer. We task you with creating a new animation for any character besides Geralt. It could be a cool pose that goes with Photo Mode, an entire choreographed dance routine, or anything in between.

Submit your work by uploading it on Nexus Mods at https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3 and sharing a link in the submission form on the official contest website: https://thewitcher.ly/REDkitContest. There, you will also find a set of Frequently Asked Questions to guide you.

Here are a few things to remember:
• you need to participate individually, and you can only submit one mod per challenge, but you can take part in as many challenges as you like;
• entries in this challenge can be submitted until August 27th, 15:59 CEST;
• to qualify for the contest, mods must not have been published before April 16th, 2024, 13:00 CEST;
• submitted mods can be updated until the submission phase deadline;
• challenges are judged by CD PROJEKT RED and Yigsoft team members.

It sounds like we won't be playing as Geralt in The Witcher 4, according to his voice actor - but that doesn't mean he won't be in it

Everyone's favourite witcher Geralt of Rivia will be in The Witcher 4… it's just sounding like he won't be the main character.

When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first came out… almost 10 years ago (holy moly I'm getting old), it was clear by the end of the game that it was meant to be a big finale. In fact, CD Projekt Red said as much in an interview with Polygon a couple of years before the game was released, making it clear that this would be the end to Geralt's story: "With the third installment, we should wrap it up and conclude a lot of threads," CEO Marcin Iwinski said. "We might even include Geralt in later games potentially," further explained executive producer John Mamais.

So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to you that Geralt's voice actor himself, Doug Cockle, has said in a recent video for Fall Damage (thanks, PC Gamer) that The Witcher 4, or whatever it ends up being called, won't be about the beloved character. "Witcher 4 has been announced. I can't say anything about it," Cockle said. "What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don't know how much, and the game won't focus on Geralt. So it's not about him this time. We don't know who it's about. I'm excited to find out. I want to know! I have not seen any script yet, I mean, I couldn't tell you if I did. This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I'm not. Or am I?"

It's been almost a decade since the launch of The Witcher 3, and like any good open-world RPG there are still secrets to find. Start a new save, walk in the opposite direction you did last time, and you're bound to come across something new. But it's easy to miss things. The Continent is vast and there are some superb adventures in the base game that might have slipped under your nose. Thankfully, a new The Witcher 3 mod offers a solution.

There's now a Witcher 3 mod that dresses the game's scariest character in armbands and a rubber ring, because CD Projekt craves summer vibes

Warning: Spoilers for The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone lie ahead.

You might disagree, but to me, the title of most terrifying thing you encounter in The Witcher 3 goes to the Hearts of Stone expansion's Gaunter O'Dimm. Sure, he's a lot less in your face than a lot of the monsters and foes Geralt faces, but he's hinted to potentially be the most evil and powerful. Anyway, there's now a mod that sticks him in some swimming gear.

Yep, if you've ever been a bit unnerved by ol' Master Mirror's ability to pause time itself, cause shipwrecks in an instant, and recall the secret to making perfect gingerbread, it's ok, you can now slap some armbands on him to lessen his general spookiness. Or maybe this increases it? I'm having trouble deciding, to be honest.

You know what's out? Binary morality in RPGs. You know what's in?
