Ex Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 devs plan to make their "dream" RPG

Former Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, and CDPR developers have united to create "the RPG of their dreams," confirming that the upcoming dark fantasy game has now entered its alpha stage. Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has successfully recruited CP2077 quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, whose previous credits also include Thronebreaker The Witcher Tales. Tomaszkiewicz describes Rebel Wolves' debut game as an RPG that its creators "would love to play ourselves." More information is slated to arrive later this year.

As acquisitions become the industry norm, CD Projekt Red says it's "not interested"

Acquisitions are becoming more and more common in the games industry, but Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red is happy to stay independent.

Over the past few years, several companies have been throwing their money around when it comes to acquisitions, from Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, to the plethora of studios Embracer Group has picked up (and later shut down). However, in an interview with Parkiet, former CD Projekt Red CEO and current Chief Strategy Officer Adam Kiciński touched on recurring rumours that the studio was looking to be acquired (as translated by VGC).

"These are just rumours. We have always had a clear position, supported by the regulations included in the statute,” Kiciński said. "We are not interested in being included in any larger entity. We have worked our whole lives to get to the position we have now. And we believe that in a few years we will be even bigger and stronger. We have ambitious plans and we are passionate about what we do. We value our independence."

Despite both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 both being out for a good few years now, it seems that there are some Easter eggs that haven't been found.

In the first episode of the official CDProjekt Red podcast AnsweRED, studio narrative lead Marcin Blacha spoke about how the studio handles Easter eggs (thanks, GamesRadar). The Witcher 4 director Sebastian Kalemba asked Blacha about how Easter eggs are made throughout development, with Blacha explaining "if we're talking about Easter eggs and all those tiny, funny things in the game, the thing is that you cannot really plan it. It's not like we have a list of Easter eggs and we make them.

"Let's say you're making a game and it's, like, the fourth year. You are really tired and then you have this idea and you cannot stop yourself from making it. That's how Easter eggs in our games start. Sometimes this idea is so good that some other people join you and something spectacular emerges.
