The Witcher 3 director forms new studio with CDPR veterans making a dark fantasy RPG

A group of former CD Projekt Red folks have formed a new studio, announcing plans to make their own "AAA" "story-driven" "dark fantasy RPG". The studio are named Rebel Wolves, and they're founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was director of The Witcher 3 and secondary game director on Cyberpunk 2077. Their RPG is largely a mystery for now, though a wee bit of artwork suggests at least one vampire is involved?

The release of Season 2 of The Witcher series on Netflix has kicked off another spree of interest in the last game to feature Geralt, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt spiking to a high of over 71,000 daily concurrent players. CD Projekt Red begins "exploratory work" on new games, Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 current-gen coming in 2022

CD Projekt Red has announced that the current-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 will be coming in Q1 and Q2 of 2022.

In a press release that primarily looks back at 2021, the developer has announced some vague windows for when we can expect the long-promised current-gen versions of its illustrious RPGs.

"We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms," the update reads.
