The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade definitely isn't in "development hell" insists CD Projekt senior vice president

CD Projekt Red has announced that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 has been postponed until "further notice,"but a recent investors call insists that the game isn't in any kind of development hell.

Earlier this week, an investors call was made where CD Projekt's senior vice president of business development Michał Nowakowski touched on the state of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 (via PC Gamer).

"I've been looking at the headlines that popped up here and there over the internet, and I've seen one that really drew my attention, which is, 'Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely,' which sounds like the game is in some sort of development hell," Nowakowski said. "I want to state this is not the fact. There's been a lot of insinuations that we're going to launch, like, June next year or something like that. That's completely not the case."

Cyberpunk 2077 passes 18 million sold, first expansion coming next year

In its latest financial report, CD Projekt announced Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 18 million copies as of April 14, 2022.

The last figure shared was back in December 2020 when it was reported the game had surpassed 13 million copies sold worldwide. SuperData estimated that 10.2 million were digital units, and that the game grossed $609 million in digital sales as of December 31, 2020.

According to CDP, the first expansion for the game is on track for release next year. We knew at least one was in the works, and more are to come, but in the meantime, the team is still working on improving the game.

The Witcher 3 next-gen development shifts to in-house, postponed until "further notice"

CD Projekt Red has announced a delay for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to the company, it has decided to have its in-house development team conduct the remaining work. Because of this, it is currently evaluating the "scope of work to be done" so it is postponing the Q2 release until further notice.

Last year, the company said the game was being developed by its external team mainly, which is Saber Interactive. This is the company it had worked with before on Switch and also with updates in the past.
