CD Projekt Red begins "exploratory work" on new games, Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 current-gen coming in 2022

CD Projekt Red has announced that the current-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 will be coming in Q1 and Q2 of 2022.

In a press release that primarily looks back at 2021, the developer has announced some vague windows for when we can expect the long-promised current-gen versions of its illustrious RPGs.

"We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms," the update reads.

The next Witcher anime is "way, way, way in the future", and probably still won't be anime

Okay, look. Netflix is lying to you. Netflix keeps calling things that are absolutely not anime "anime". Please scroll down if you would like my full rant on this topic. For now, though, the thing you're here to learn about is the new animated Witcher film, following up on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The next movie was briefly announced months ago, but it's still a long way off.

Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich tells Entertainment Weekly that the film "way, way, way in the future", and there's no clear release date, even internally, because "we're just now getting started on it". As for the direction of the film, however, Hissrich says that "I hope that the anime [sic] is a little bit more of a standalone project that will bring new eyes onto the franchise but also really be able to stand out there on its own". The movie will be written by a pair of writers who have "been on the staff from the beginning".

Nightmare of the Wolf was produced by Studio Mir, the South Korean animation house responsible for such excellent productions as The Legend of Korra and Netflix's own Voltron series. It's a great studio. It does not make anime.

Netflix's Witcher Season 2 debuts a new trailer full of beasts and battles

"I've lived through three supposed end of days," a casual Geralt of Rivia remarks to a boar-man sitting in a pub in the new trailer for Netflix's The Witcher Season 2. "It's all horseshit." He's probably right, of course, but that doesn't seem to be getting in the way of the second season of the RPG game's TV adaptation dialing up the action and upping the stakes for our favourite mutant monster hunter and his pals.

The new trailer has the tagline "Destiny is a beast," and there are plenty of beasts on parade. One shot shows a bat-winged demon flying in the distance as Geralt strides into a still pond, while later on, the Witcher is assaulted by a huge vampire bat. In the snowy woods, Geralt and Ciri face off against a powerful Leshen that sends root-like tendrils toward them under the ground.

So we're going to be seeing more monsters, which is always fun. Geralt and Yennefer also demonstrate some of their fearsome powers: Geralt makes liberal use of the Quen and Aard signs, while Yenn is clearly still wrestling with her own developing abilities as a sorceress.

Witcher 3 modder fixes the game's grammer and speling

There's nothing that quite takes me out of a game quite like seeing a tyop in the in-game text. You know how it goes - maybe there's a line spacing issue, or a bit of journal text that clearly wasn't updated for a story revision. A few issues might be expected in RPG game's as massive as The Witcher 3 (and as a writer, I know as well as anyone that problems slip through), but luckily modders have stepped in to fix them.

Grammar of the Path - TW3 Text Cleanup Project is avalable via Nexus Mods, and "seeks to cleanup the many typos, spacing, formatting, inaccuracies, and other issues related to the game's text. In all, there are more than 1,000 lines of text that are edited to increase accuracy and immersion for the player."

The mod is intended to word alongwide other quality-of-life Witcher 3 mods like the bug fix collection, Brothers in Arms, and the cut lore restoration mode, Witcher Lore Collection. A lod of screnshots at the Nixxes page indicates the many improvements for types and other inancurassys fixed by the mod
