[/p][p][/p][p]This year has been incredibly meaningful for us. We were continuously searching for funding for the game while still pushing development forward, and we were lucky enough to find Silver Lining as our publisher, with whom the collaboration has been going really well, allowing us to make a full version of the game! 💕 [/p][p]Over the course of a year, we’ve made huge progress: we wrote our last chapters, created plenty of maps, character models, pastries, animations, quests, wrote countless lines of code, and even expanded the game to more platforms! 🎮

So many of you joined our community this year, we reached many milestones, and we’re incredibly grateful. Thank you so, so much. 💕[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We prepared some big announcements for The Witch’s Bakery in 2026, and we can’t wait to continue this adventure with you. [h2]Bonjour, Bakers! ✨✨[/h2][p][/p][p]If you haven’t met him yet, it’s about time we've introduced you to Ghaldari, one of the most intriguing figures of the Witch’s Bakery universe. Nestled within the Passage Verdeau, Ghaldari is the owner of a magical shop called Dans la Toile, a place brimming with curious artifacts, enchanted tools, and wonders waiting to be discovered![/p][p][/p][p]Beyond being a shopkeeper, Ghaldari also holds an important place in magical history. He once served as Lunne’s teacher during her years at the Academy, guiding her as she honed her magical abilities ^^ His knowledge and experience make him both a mentor and a pillar of the magical community.
[/p][h3]A Unique Species: Aranea Humana[/h3][p]Ghaldari belongs to a rare species known as the Aranea Humana (Spider Human), also called Tissetoile (Star-Weaver). This unique lineage blends human and spider traits, resulting in beings endowed with intelligence above the human average. Members of this species have retained the remarkable ability to produce and weave webs, a skill that plays a key role in both their culture and craftsmanship.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]Designing Ghaldari[/h3][p]When designing Ghaldari, the focus was first placed on his silhouette and overall presence. At first glance, his tall stature and unusual features can make him seem a little intimidating. However, that initial impression quickly fades. In truth, Galdari is curious, cheerful, and genuinely funny, with a personality that contrasts delightfully with his imposing appearance.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As you may know, Studio Ghibli played a crucial role in inspiration for the feeling, mood and art direction for The Witch's Bakery. This can be seen in Ghaldari's initial designs as well (let us know if you spot it 😉).[/p][p]It was important to us to convey the clever-teacher aesthetics, without falling into the stereotypical 'mad scientist' visuals. After all, Ghladari is not only a mentor, but also a collector of curiosities! That's when the idea of making him look just a bit more 'hip' came around 🕷️ [/p][p][/p][p]Once we've decided to go with a bit less human design, all started falling into place! [/p][p][/p][p]It's not infrequent, that you come across folks who radiate curiosity inside and out, often wearing their quirks, interest and trinkets (literally) on their sleeve. Ghaldari seemed to naturally fall into that category! We wanted to make sure he appears as someone very chill, but also ready to jump into a monologue about their favourite book as soon as you ask! [/p][p][/p][p]His clothing reflects this duality. We've played around with different patterns and textures, creating a look that feels strange, cozy, distinguished, colourful, and yet refined. We're happy to share that we've reached Chapter 4, which revolves around the emotion Anger.

[/p][p]In this chapter, you'll meet Kei Takeuchi, a former French-Japanese Michelin-starred chef, and learn more about his story and the Regret he carries. [/p][h2]
Art 🎨 [/h2][p]We did some research about a new character that appears in the Chapter 3, Mille-Lieux! She's a reporter who often visits The Aside. She plays a very important role in our universe.

Today's character: Orio![/p][p][/p][h3]Initial Designs[/h3][p]When we first started sketching Orio, we were really just exploring - throwing down blobs, bacteria-inspired shapes, and all sorts of wiggly little creatures to see what felt right. Even though the early designs went in a bunch of strange directions (some of them hilariously reminiscent of Plankton from Spongebob), one thing stayed surprisingly consistent from the very beginning: the softness. The gooey-ness. The absolute squishability we wanted Orio to radiate. No matter how odd the silhouette got, Orio always needed to look like something you could poke, prod, or gently smush, but what would return to it's original form. [/p][p]
[/p][p]As we refined the designs, we found ourselves leaning toward simpler forms, great-expressive eyes, and eventually a subtle cat-like ears naturally formed around those soft, blobby foundations. Following this trailer, we truly loved how expressive ears can be! It had become a must from then on.

[/p][p]Moving into this next stage felt a bit like we were just letting the drawings lead us. Every time we sketched Orio, they kept drifting toward something a little cat-ish, so we decided to follow that path and see where it went. We tried everything ranging ebtween fully fluffy, chonky cats and these funny little cat-blobs that still clung to their gooey origins. None of them felt quite right on their own, but each version taught us something. Little by little, Orio started finding their own balance point: that oversized head, those tiny pointy ears, and a small, soft body that still carried the squishiness we fell in love with at the start. It was the moment where we stopped trying to decide what Orio should be, and instead realized they were already showing us who he was :D You could just imagine the ears and hat peeking from beneath corner, table, listening intently with their cute, yet mischievous form ^^[/p][p][/p][h3]Colours and Final Shape![/h3][h3] [/h3][p]Some of you may already know, that Orio is a Metamorph! That means they can change their size and shape and just happens to be every so slightly transparent! That posed a very important question: how do we make Orio stand out, if people can literally see right through him?! Although we've tried several colours and loved the way they worked together, we had to find the perfect match for Orio's vibrant personality - one that would still highlight their presence like a big sign saying: HERE I AM! The answer was pink! Strong, really eye-catching and absolutely unmissable. It also added a little bit of extra magic to Orio's design - pink is a rare sight in animals for sure!

And so Orio came to be, as the perfect little helper and the greatest friend for Lunne! We truly love how they come together, each very different and yet unapologetically, equally unique and vibrant!

[/h3][p]If you didn't saw our last news, we're so happy to tell you that The Witch's Bakery is coming to all platforms: Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5 and Switch 1! It's all thank to your amazing support day by day that we are able to expand our magic in many platforms! 🎮

Speaking about the game, we did our very first playtest! It went very well and we're happy to see all your reactions. There's a lot to adjust and evolve but so many great things came out!

[/h3][p]We’re working closely on the Heart Palace Fear, creating new assets and balancing it to make it as impressive as the Heart Palace Sadness! We really want each Heart Palace to be impressive and convey the emotion of its chapter.
