Train Sim World 6 – New Horizons to Leipzig

[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Each week until launch, we’ll be giving further details about each of the 3 routes, the trains and Deluxe Edition loco Add-ons.[/p][p]On top of this we’ll outline gameplay elements such as the timetable and layers as well as give further context about the history of the real-world railways.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We start with the longest of the three routes: Leipzig – Dresden. Further details on the Morristown (USA) and Riviera (UK) Lines, will be published in the coming weeks.[/p][p][/p]
The Route: Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden

incl Coswig Line & Friedrichstadt Yard
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Go beyond the boundaries of Nahverkehr Dresden and accelerate westbound all the way to Leipzig in Train Sim World 6. Drive modern ICE, regional and freight traffic along the oldest long-distance railway in Germany.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Built in 1839, the Leipzig-Dresden railway was the first long-distance line in Germany, and one of the oldest in the country. Over time the line earned a reputation for being one of the busiest as well, and its age meant it has seen many improvements to keep up with demand. Today, it is a modern commuter network and LZB-equipped intercity line in one. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Fast services beat the regional traffic through the use of separate lines that each take a different path through the Saxony countryside, and the outskirts of Dresden are served by frequent commuter services.[/p][p]Though seasoned Train Sim World players may feel that they know half this route already from the Dresden – Riesa Add-on, the doubling of length to Leipzig and addition of the Dresden - Coswig line more than doubles the possible gameplay and services available across the expanded route in Train Sim World 6. The total route length is 160 km![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Key additions to the route include:[/p]
 • [p]NEW 65 km extension from Riesa to Leipzig, including 20 NEW Stations[/p]
 • [p]NEW addition of 13 km Dresden-Coswig line[/p]
 • [p]NEW Friedrichstadt Marshalling Yard[/p]
 • [p]NEW green stripe variant of the DB BR 411 ICE-T[/p]
 • [p]NEW Platform & Passenger Announcements[/p]
 • [p]NEW Random Events in service mode[/p]
 • [p]NEW Train Faults[/p]
 • [p]Updated DB BR 442 featuring Suspension Updates[/p]
 • [p]Dresden-Riesa Entitlement preserving layers for other TSW routes[/p]
Dresden – Riesa Entitlements
[p][/p][p]All players of Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden will receive entitlements to the previously released Dresden – Riesa route Add-on, adding even more trains to their roster and preserving service layers applicable to other European routes in their collection.[/p][p]The old Dresden – Riesa route Add-on will not be available to purchase separately for Train Sim World 6.[/p][p][/p]
The Trains
[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]There is a wide variety of trains and locomotives included in the Leipzig - Dresden route, covering a range of services. High-speed, local, S-bahn, freight and shunting gameplay is all catered for, with additional trains available courtesy of the Dresden – Riesa entitlement that all owners of Leipzig – Dresden will receive.[/p][p][/p]
NEW DB BR 294 ‘V 90’ Shunter
[p]available in Deluxe/Special Edition[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The BR 294, originally known as the V 90 series, were built in the 1960s & 70s as heavy shunting locomotives. Their weight and power made them suitable for shunting long trains, but also transporting wagons between different locations. In the 1990s a fleet overhaul saw 290 locos rebuilt & reclassified as the BR 294.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Despite their age, and with multiple locos retired in favour of newer traction, many 294s can still be found working today, holding onto local train duties and preparing long-distance freight for mainline traction to take onward. Their continuing commonality has made them a familiar sight across the length of Germany’s oldest long-distance railway.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden, the BR 294 will work to assemble freight consists in the various yards along the 160km route, with some main line running moving trains between facilities. Given their prominence across Germany, players will get further use out of this locomotive by spawning it into timetable mode in other Train Sim World routes.[/p][p]The BR 294 comes equipped with PZB and Sifa. There is also a Throttle Lock that players will need to be mindful of when operating, which is highlighted by the Driver Assist prompts. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The DB BR 294 loco Add-on will be available to purchase separately once Train Sim World 6 has released on 30th September.[/p][p][/p]
DB BR 411 ICE-T
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Returning to Train Sim World’s ICE fleet is the DB BR 411 ICE-T, complete with its impressive GNT technology![/p][p][/p][p]ICE-T units have been in service across Germany since 1999, adding a different style of train to that of the ICE 1. The ICE-T's tilting function, which can reach a maximum of 8 degrees, allows them to travel at higher speeds that conventional trains. A separate system in place to monitor this and needs to be enabled in order for the tilting to take place.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This system, GNT, works with other safety systems like PZB, LZB and Sifa to ensure safe operation across the Frankfurt–Fulda route. The GNT system needs to be turned on in order for tilting to work. This is a manual process done by the player.[/p][p]Due to the nature of the Leipzig - Dresden route, the GNT system is less relevant than on the previously released Frankfurt – Fulda route.[/p][p]This DB BR 411 ICE-T comes in a new variant with a green stripe depicting DB’s “Das ist grün” campaign.[/p][p][/p][p]The DB BR 411 ICE-T is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.[/p][p][/p]
DB BR 442
[p][/p][p][/p][p]The new generation BR 442 ‘Talent 2’ was built by Bombardier and introduced in 2009, the successor to the ‘Talent’ this was put in to service by Deutsche Bahn to replace older EMU types and loco-hauled trains on both S-Bahn and Regio services.[/p][p]The variant in Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden has been updated to include in-game Suspension.[/p][p]The BR 442 comes equipped with PZB and Sifa. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.[/p][p][/p][p]The DB BR 442 EMU is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. [/p][p]Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.[/p][p][/p]
DB BR 185

plus wagons
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The modular TRAXX locomotives from Bombardier have become one of Europe’s most widespread family of locomotives and includes the BR 185.5! Bombardier’s TRAXX (Transnational Railway Applications with Extreme Flexibility) is a modular product platform of electric and diesel-electric locomotives.[/p][p]The BR 185.5’s had a top speed of 140km/h (87mph) and operated as a general-purpose freight locomotive. More than 300 BR 185.5 locomotives were built and sold to various train operators, including leasing companies, throughout Europe, including Switzerland, France and Germany.[/p][p]The MRCE variant of the BR 185 is also included with the Dresden – Riesa route entitlement.[/p][p][/p][p]The DB BR 185 electric locomotive is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.[/p][p][/p]
DB BR 146.2

plus Dostos
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Further passenger services can also be operated by the BR 146.2, as previously seen in the Frankfurt – Fulda and Main-Spessart Bahn route Add-ons. These more modern electric locomotives will add yet more variety to the timetable and an alterative setting in which operate passenger trains.[/p][p]This locomotive is a modern, speedy, passenger-oriented example of motive power. In the early 2000s Deutsche Bahn placed an order for 47 passenger locomotives, these would follow in the footsteps of previous designs, such as the 185.2, combined with older passenger variants to provide a modern counterpart, known as the DB BR 146.2.[/p][p]Being passenger-focused, the 146.2 features a higher top speed than the 185.2 and is also equipped with destination board equipment as well as push-pull capability, allowing it to be driven from a control car.[/p][p]The BR 146 comes equipped with LZB, AFB, PZB and Sifa. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.[/p][p][/p][p]The DB BR 146.2 electric locomotive is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.[/p][p][/p]
Additional Trains
[p][/p][p]The inclusion of the Dresden – Riesa entitlement for all players of Train Sim World 6 Standard, Deluxe and Special Edition means that additional trains will also be available to operate.[/p][p]These are:[/p]
 • [p]DB BR 143[/p]
 • [p]DB BR 363 ‘V 60’ Shunter[/p]
[p][/p]
NEW Features: Train Faults and Random Events
[p][/p][p][/p][p]New to Train Sim World 6 is the introduction of Train Faults and Random Events, ensuring that no two services are ever the same![/p][p]These toggleable features will keep players on their toes, with signal delays and issues with the trains themselves resulting in the need to react and work through solutions as guided by the in-game prompts.[/p][p][/p]
Train Faults
[p]Train Faults will occur in the form of Wiper Failures and Lighting Failures.[/p][p]These faults can be easily reset. Players will get a pop up when a fault occurs so that they can then take the necessary action to clear it. Some of these may require a breaker to be reset.[/p][p][/p]
Random Events
[p]Signal Delays will once again be something to consider when playing with the Random Events enabled. At Dresden, both HL and KS types of signalling are in use and looking out for any atypical aspects will keep players on their toes![/p][p]This of course will also impact those playing with LZB, AFB and PZB systems enabled, resulting in the need to react further to alerts or have the LZB system reduce train speeds as necessary.[/p][p][/p]
Timetable, Layers & Gameplay
[p][/p][p]An extensive and complex timetable has been implemented into not only to make full use of the variety of trains from within the route, but also those from the wider German content back catalogue. This includes layering using multiple Add-ons.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The types of services available to operate in Leipzig - Dresden include:[/p]
 • [p]ICE-T express traffic between Dresden and Leipzig, using the avoiding line in the East and LZB in the West.[/p]
 • [p]Regional services (RE50, RB31, RE15, RE18) with the BR 442, which also operates local services towards Großenhain and forms AI traffic at Leipzig and Riesa.[/p]
 • [p]BR 143 hauled Dostos operating peak S1 and all S2 services.[/p]
 • [p]BR 146 hauled Dostos operating S1 and RE50 services.[/p]
 • [p]Multiple paths from Dresden to Riesa, followed by a high-speed dash to Leipzig.[/p]
 • [p]Freight trains using the BR 185 serving industries and the large Friedrichstadt yard, including loco swaps and trains heading out of the map toward Czechia.[/p]
 • [p]BR 363 shunting services, available via the Dresden-Riesa entitlement[/p]
 • [p]Deluxe / Special Edition players (or those that purchase the loco Add-on separately) will also be able to operate BR 294 shunting and local freight services.[/p]
[p][/p]
Additional Service Layers
[p][/p][p]An overview of Additional Service Layers is as follows:[/p]
 • [p]BR 1442 trains from the Rapid Transit Add-on offering playable S4 services from Leipzig and AI traffic[/p]
 • [p]BR 642 trains using the Maintalbahn Add-on offering playable and AI services[/p]

 • [p]BR 103 playable rail tour from the Linke Rheinstrecke Add-on[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p][p]In addition, static stock that rotates throughout the year (by changing the in-game month) will appear at Leipzig Hbf Platform 24 featuring trains from a wider range of Add-ons, including the E94 railtour pack from TSG. This represents the ‘Museum Platform’ which in reality also rotates a series of historic rolling stock.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As is typical of German routes in Train Sim World, playable locomotive substitutions for both freight and passenger services are available for players with additional content in their collection. This includes the Railpool Vectron, PRESS BR 155, and more.[/p][p][/p]
Save on selected layers Add-ons: Steam Weeklong Deal
[p][/p][p]Get prepared by grabbing some of the relevant Add-ons at 60% off to activate the above layers on Steam! These discounts are available until 1800 BST on 15th September.[/p][p][/p][p]The Add-ons on sale are:[/p][p]For this sale, the Train Sim World 5 versions of the Add-ons have discounts applied. Purchasing these will entitle players to the Train Sim World 6 Compatible version of the Add-ons at no extra charge.[/p][p][/p]
8th Generation Console Services
[p]After reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetable to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).[/p][p]All playable services in timetable mode will use the BR 442. Other included trains (ICE-T, BR 143, BR 146, BR 185) will be available to operate in Scenarios.[/p][p]The only additional layer will be for a selection of playable BR 294 services. 6 Things to Look (or Listen) Out For in Train Sim World 6

[p][/p][p]There are loads of things to be looking forward to, with new routes, new trains and some interesting new features to keep players on their toes. In this article, we’ll be guiding you through 6 key things to look out for come launch day on 30th September 2025! [/p][p][/p]
1. Random Events
[p][/p][p]In Train Sim World 6, you’ll be able to head to the Settings menu and set Random Events to ‘Enabled’. This will set live two different kinds of events to occur randomly during your journey. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Signal Delays
[p]Sometimes, signals aren’t automated. They’re operated by real signallers in real signal boxes! As a result, not all signal changes are instant. With Random Events enabled, some signals may take longer to clear than expected. You may be held in platform for longer that you’d hoped or will need to keep an eye on what you expected a signal to display.[/p][p][/p][p]The order of trains may alter. You may get stuck behind a train that’s overtaken you, or vice versa, further disrupting the signalling order that you might have expected normally. [/p][p]This is key for players who operate their trains with Safety Systems enabled. PZB and LZB in Germany, AWS and TPWS in the UK as well as ACSES and ATC system in the USA all react to the signal aspects and knock-on effects with signal delays may result in other unexpected aspects during your journey. If you’re playing Riviera Line, remember to switch that DRA on if there’s a red at the end of the platform... just to remind you to check the signal aspect before you depart! [/p][p][/p]
Temporary Speed Restrictions
[p]The other Random Event is the enforcement of Temporary Speed Restrictions. In reality, these are put in place to guard against track work or infrastructure considerations and are often denoted by temporary signs placed by the trackside.[/p][p][/p][p]Signs will appear beside the track to give a visual indication of where any restrictions start and end. [/p][p]The HUD will also react to these restrictions, giving you a clearer guide as to when you need to slow down to comply with the restrictions. [/p][p]After reviewing the complexities of adding non-authentic assets to certain routes (i.e. modern-day assets on a historic route, or German signage appearing on a Dutch route, for example), we will just be implementing this for launch on TSW6 routes and will review opportunities to add to older content in future. [/p][p][/p]
2. Expect the Unexpected with Train Faults
[p][/p][p]Get ready to fight gremlins in Train Sim World 6! Ok, not literally. But with the Train Faults option toggled to ‘Enabled’ a selection of equipment failures will occur at random within trains that are included in Train Sim World 6, including: [/p]
 • [p]Wiper failures[/p]
 • [p]Lighting Failures[/p]
 • [p]Titling Failures (on trains with tilting systems)[/p]
 • [p]Turbo failures (on trains with turbo systems)[/p]
[p]When a failure occurs, a pop-up will appear on screen that explains the fault and gives guidance on how you can overcome it. This may require you to vacate the seat and go looking for a breaker or fuse to reset, adding a significant delay to your service or your passengers! [/p][p]Once enabled any one of the relevant faults for your train could occur AT ANY TIME, or even... not at all! As a result, no two journeys might ever end up the same. [/p][p][/p]
3. Announcements are here in Train Sim World
[p][/p][p]We heard you like Announcements, so in July, we announced when we'd be announcing. Then, as part of our big announcement we decided to Announce: Announcements! [/p][p]Yes, you heard right! Full implementation of on-board passenger and platform announcements are finally here in Train Sim World 6, adding a significant piece to the big immersion puzzle. You can now enjoy an audible feast of varied service patterns and station stops from beyond the cab, whether checking tickets with the public in coaches using Conductor Mode or roaming about the platforms hunting down Route Task Collectibles. [/p][p]But how do these work? We’ve got a handy video from a busy morning at Exeter on the Riviera Line that depicts how Announcements add that extra layer of immersion during timetabled services.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Generic announcements have been a feature in previous Train Sim World routes. In TSW6, a significant amount of work has gone into converting the dedicated PIS (Passenger Information System) data into an audible format. Up until now, this data has primarily served the display of dynamic information boards on platforms and within the stations themselves.[/p][p]The result is a formulaic announcement for each and every train arriving in the brand new routes for Train Sim World 6. Busy stations like Exeter St Davids, Hoboken and Leipzig Hbf will have a cacophony of callouts detailing the arrival and departures of express trains, local trains and their final destinations for you to hear amongst the hubbub of railway passenger life.[/p][p][/p][p]But what about in cab? Those of you in the know might figure that drivers and engineers don't really experience the joy of announcements - after all, they have other things to be mindful of![/p][p]So we've been a bit sneaky. An optional, toggleable speaker inside the cab has been implemented in the Settings Menu, so that anyone wanting to hear announcements whilst they're at the helm can do so! If you'd prefer the pure operating experience, switch it off and concentrate on those signal delays and speed restrictions. Train Sim World 6 is all about dealing with the unexpected - so maybe some distractions in the cab are something you want![/p][p]Also implemented for TSW6 is additional Passenger Ambience. These are sound effects of chatter and bustling within the passenger compartments of trains and are based on train loadings. Busy trains with every seat full will feel busy and crowded with noise, whereas quiet trains won’t. Conductor Mode players will hear this most clearly as they walk through the train moving baggage and checking tickets.[/p][p]Announcements and Passenger Ambience are available in Train Sim World 6 routes.[/p]
4. Get the most out of Service Layers
[p][/p][p]Whether you’re a long-time Train Sim World fan, with dozens of Add-ons in your collection, or a new player looking to add more trains and gameplay to your Train Sim World 6 experience, then layers are something you’ll want to make use of. [/p][p]Service layers take trains from other Add-ons in your collection and places them within a set timetable, making gameplay sessions busier and offering more playable services for a specific route. [/p][p]In Train Sim World 6, all additional service layers will initially be defaulted to ‘Off’ when players first start their game. A prompt will appear, giving players the option to head to the Settings Menu, where layers can be curated for the best playing experience. There will be an option to turn all layers back to ‘On’ permanently, for players that wish to do so. [/p][p][/p][p]The Layer Selector feature that was first introduced in Train Sim World 5, remains a feature in Train Sim World 6. This allows players to alter the layers for a specific route in the train selection screen. You can also view unavailable layers, to determine what additional content you might need to purchase to unlock them. [/p][p]This feature has been updated in Train Sim World 6 so that the number of layers enabled ‘saves’ between sessions. A counter will indicate how many layers are enabled from the maximum available for that timetable (including layers that the player may not own). ENABLE ALL and DISABLE ALL options are now also available. [/p][p]All three routes in Train Sim World 6 will feature playable or AI layers from previous Train Sim World Add-ons. We will detail these further in each of the route-themed articles published in the coming weeks. [/p][p]These articles will include: [/p]
 • [p]Add-ons required to see freight trains operate on Morristown Line,[/p]
 • [p]Add-ons supporting playable steam trains, freight and classic diesel traction for Riviera Line,[/p]
 • [p]A full suite of additional layers for Leipzig-Dresden from a host of German Add-ons,[/p]
[p] As a note, some services may not be available for players on 8th Generation console platforms. [/p][p][/p]
5. New trains, new sounds, new liveries!
[p][/p][p]Here’s something you might like to know about some of the trains included in TSW6: [/p]
 • [p]The DB BR 411 ICE-T comes in a new variant with a green stripe depicting DB’s “Das ist grün” campaign.[/p]
 • [p]The NEW DB BR 294 can be used as both a shunting and freight locomotive.[/p]
 • [p]The NEW GWR Class 802 has a full power diesel engine, with overhead line functionality included for use on electrified routes.[/p]

 • [p]The NEW NJ TRANSIT® ALP-45DP is dual powered, with a fully functioning diesel engine and pantograph for overhead wires.[/p]
6. More new content and new countries!
[p][/p][p]What’s better than the new trains and new routes coming in Train Sim World 6? Well... even more new content coming afterwards of course! Highlights Include: [/p]

As you pass through Smethwick, Dudley and Oldbury, the industrial heartbeat of the Black Country pulses around you. Then comes Wolverhampton. You rise above the city, sweeping across rooftops and see the iconic football ground in the distance before arriving at the high level platforms of this key interchange. Here, lines from Shrewsbury, Stafford, Bescot and Birmingham all converge, making Wolverhampton one of the most operationally significant points on the route."[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]"North of Wolverhampton, the scene transforms. The city noise fades, and you enter the broad rural landscape of Staffordshire. The run into Stafford brings open track, steady gradients and clear skies. It is here you join the core of the West Coast Main Line. Every detail has been built to reflect the current-day infrastructure."[/p][p]"Your final approach into Crewe is a railway experience in itself. Long known as a major hub in the national network, Crewe features wide sweeping platforms, complex track layouts and operational detail at every turn. It is a fitting end point for a route defined by pace, presence and purpose."[/p][p][/p][p]The Class 350 Desiro is your main traction for the journey. This familiar and trusted unit appears here in all three subclasses – 350/1, 350/2 and 350/3 – each delivered with its own distinct livery, just as they would have been seen in 2019. From interior layouts to visual features and branding, every variation has been recreated for full immersion."[/p][p][/p][p]"Adding an extra layer of personality to the route is 350235, wearing its unique British Transport Police livery. You will see this eye catching unit throughout your drives, appearing across the timetable as it follows its real world diagram. There are more than 350 playable services waiting in timetable mode. With a full weekday of operations represented, you will take on everything from first light commuter runs to mid afternoon stoppers and evening express services. Whether running non stop from Wolverhampton to Crewe or stopping at every station from Birmingham northwards, every journey offers something different."[/p][p][/p][p]"The route is filled with detail. From football stadiums at Wolverhampton and Crewe, to hand placed industrial and residential scenery in Soho, Oldbury and Stafford, this is a railway environment that feels lived in. Almost 100 bespoke bridges have been created, custom overhead line equipment installed throughout, and every station built using real references from the period. WCML Birmingham to Crewe is more than just a railway line. It is a living network, shaped by the people, places and trains that use it every day."[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We can't wait to get this add-on in all of your hands, and it won't be too long until we're hopping on our first preview event with the AABS development team. Stay tuned for more information, and keep reading for a second brand-new announcement from the AABS further on in this article![/p][p][/p]
Liberec – Stará Paka from Vector Simulations
[p]We love introducing all new teams to our TSW partner programme, and today we're lucky to have two developers to share with you all! Let's start with Vector Simulations, who will be taking TSW to Czechia for the first time![/p][p][/p][p]Vector Simulations: "Our first Czech Add-on for Train Sim World will accurately represent the route 030 from Liberec to Stará Paka, measuring 80 km with single track and based around the year 2018. The route is technically and visually very diverse, traverses multiple deep valleys with high viaducts and goes through 8 tunnels - In some parts, you can even drive 100 km/h! Thanks to this, it offers not only interesting driving profiles and gradients, but also a visually attractive environment. You can also find historical Hrubý Rohozec castle near Turnov."[/p][p]
[/p][p]"You will also drive class 750 - commonly nicknamed “Googles” due to its characteristic look - with some freight service. Climb steep hills with heavy trains, sometimes with single locomotive, other times with two or even with a banking locomotive. Explore a detailed model of the engine room and feel the characteristic scent of diesel and 1970s. The Class 750 will also feature four different liveries, VO67 radiostation, LS IV safety system, support of multiple-engine driving and a banking locomotive."[/p][p]
[/p][p]The new country list keeps growing, thank you to the Vector Simulations team for their details on the first Czech route arriving soon to TSW, how about we catch a flight to another new location?[/p]
Lisbon – Setúbal from VirtuaVia360
[p]As the second of our new partner developers, let's meet VirtuaVia360, who will also be bringing TSW to a whole new country, with the first Portugese route coming to TSW6! Let's meet the team behind the route:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Virtuavia360: "We’re Virtuavia360, a Portuguese company that has game developers and train enthusiasts, bringing the first ever Portuguese routes to Train Sim World. We are really excited to join the 3rd Party Program at Dovetail, to bring our vision and work to Train Sim World"[/p][p][/p][p]"Embark on a stunning 54km journey from Lisbon's bustling hubs to the outer commuter suburbs. Take in amazing views of the Tejo river, the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge, and the picturesque landscape of the Setúbal peninsula. This add-on is recreated with outstanding detail of the commuter rail experience across 14 stations, featuring the 3500 Series EMU and a true-to-life timetable."[/p][p]
[/p][p]"The route will also feature complete Portuguese signaling and safety systems, a faithfully recreated timetable according to real world information, and it will be the first add-on to introduce the 1668mm gauge to TSW!"[/p][p][/p]
NEC New York to Stamford from Dovetail Games
[p]Now, coming from our teams at Dovetail, we're excited to announce we're heading back to the NEC with more local New York freight![/p][p][/p][p]Get ready for a choice between the Metro North and Northeat Corrdior routes, as you set off from Grand Central or New York Penn on the way to Stamford in the brand new Metro North M8 locomotive![/p][p]We're not ready to share development screenshots yet, but take a look at what you can expect in this hand-crafted route map from our Marketing Coordinator, James![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Stuttgart – Heilbronn from Dovetail Games
[p]We're winding back the clock to the 2000s era, with another German route coming from our teams at Dovetail Games![/p][p][/p][p]Get your hands on over 50km of Southwest Germany, featuring a mix of big freight yards and fields, and an extremely busy timetable to manage![/p][p]And whilst we're early in development, we have a couple WIP models to share today for both the new Wittenberger Steuerwagen and BR 140 locomotive included in the add-on! Please note, the colours on these WIP models are purely added for our artists to better understand proportions during development.[/p][p][/p][p]And of course, enjoy a Stuttgart-Heilbronn route map![/p][p][/p]
Tadami Line from Union Workshop
[p]We premiered the first glance of the highly anticipated Tadami Line gameplay on the Dovetail Direct this year, which is available to view on our TSW6 channel.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Union Workshop: "The Tadami Line runs along the Tadami River, and its charm lies in the magnificent scenery of the changing seasons. The train passes through many bridges and tunnels heads to Oku-Aizu. The scenery outside the window is refreshing. Many domestic and foreign photographers come here to capture this breathtaking scenery. It was even selected as the top of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Autumn Leaves Railways" by a national media."[/p][p]"The areas along the line not only have beautiful natural scenery but also nurture unique local culture. One of the pleasures of the journey is to immerse yourself in the nostalgic scenery and experience the daily life intertwined with legends and stories. The Tadami Line inherits the history of the mountain village, the food culture, and the exquisite craftsmanship, and continues to protect people's reunion and separation. Don't forget to get a craft called Akabeko as a souvenir, which will feature as collectibles in-game!"[/p][p]"In TSW Tadami Line, we are offering the classic Kiha40 DMU. The Kiha40 DMU was once one of the most common diesel trains in Japan. The Tadami Line started operating Kiha40 in 1979 and all trains were retired in July 2020. We offer three classic liveries, including Tohoku local colors, National Railways orange, and Niigata colors."[/p]
With varying speed limits and track arrangements you'll constantly be adjusting to the line ahead whether you're driving a 100mph express or a 45mph freight. [/p][p][/p][p]"Set in 1986 the route has our most intensive and varied Timetable to-date, featuring a wealth of passenger services, postal trains, end to end freight trains, shunting operations and light engine moves, along with excursions, all merging to provide a wealth of variety. It was designed to replace the ageing Super Voyagers and now runs services from London Euston to destinations across the Midlands, North Wales and beyond. With quieter traction, lower emissions and a fresh, modern interior, the 805 is built for the future of rail."[/p][p]"In Train Sim World, the train has been recreated with precision and care, based on real world references and operational knowledge. From the clean lines of the Avanti livery to the modern cab packed with interactive features, every detail has been considered. All sounds have been refreshed using direct recordings from the Hitachi AT300 fleet, provided by the excellent SamTSM, delivering a rich and immersive audio experience that brings the train to life."[/p][p]The BR Class 805 is coming soon to Train Sim World. DB BR 420 from TSG
[p]TSG have a new update from the DB BR 420 loco add-on since their original announcement, discussing new details and features coming with the release. Let's hear it from their team:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]"The other two are for the newly announced DTG route Stuttgart-Heilbronn. Since that route plays around the year 2000 we decided to have a further traffic red one of that older train to better fit the route. Both liveries were running there at that time. Technically, not much has been changed with the new variants. Of course, the "retro" versions will not have LZB or EBuLa and are equipped with the older style radio."[/p]
TfW Class 142 Pacer from Just Trains
[p]Let's hear again from the Just Trains team, this time on their already announced TfW Class 142 loco add-on, coming soon to Train Sim World 6![/p][p]Just Trains: "The Class 142 Pacer was the de-facto commuter unit from 1985 to 2020 across many routes in the UK. The 142 series was British Rails attempt to produce a low-cost unit for the railways and was literally based on a road bus chassis which meant that it had no separate bogies, having the axles bolted directly to the chassis rails."[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]"The Just Trains TfW Class 142 Pacer not only features these livery transformations but includes numerous changes both internally and externally to bring the unit up to being period correct. Externally the upgrades include the 2-door bi-fold entry/exit door, LED headlights, sanding unit along with numerous other small details."[/p][p][/p][p]"Internally there is a new seat design and layout featuring a new authentic maquette. In the upgraded cab there is a GSMR radio, operational DRA and TPWS along with other functional enhancements overall. Hear the custom created announcements spoken by a native Welshman as you arrive at the stations. Designed for use in the Dovetail Cardiff Network route, the Just Trains TfW Class 142 features an additional timetable which is set in 2019 and takes advantage of other DLC that you own including the Rivet Games WMR & XC Class 170 Pack."[/p]
Santa Fe Gameplay Pack from High Iron Simulations
[p]Let's check back in with the High Iron Simulation team, who are close to releasing their Santa Fe Gameplay Pack for the Cajon Pass route.[/p][p]High Iron Simulations: "The pack will bring Santa Fe railroading of the early 1990s to California’s famed Cajon Pass route and feature two notable locomotives, the workhorse AT&SF Electro-Motive SD40-2 in blue-and-yellow freight colors, and the powerful Santa Fe General Electric C40-8W in the railroad’s legendary “warbonnet” red-and-silver livery."
[/p][p][/p][p]"Freight equipment will be highlighted by three all-new types of freight cars: A Santa Fe two-bay cement covered hopper, Santa Fe three-bay ribbed-side covered hopper, and an example of the iconic 86-foot auto parts boxcar."[/p][p][/p][p]"The pack promises a robust – and authentic – operating experience. More than 250 timetable services and five scenarios will feature mainline intermodal and freight trains, switching, and locals. The services are closely based on actual Santa Fe freight schedules of the era. Additionally, Union Pacific freight action on Cajon Pass will be represented in an extra layer using UP equipment from the Sherman Hill route Add-on."[/p]
Work has also started on the next addon by Grump Dog Games but that’s all I can share at this time."[/p][p][/p][p]Just take a look at this fantastic before and after shot for the GWR Remaster![/p]
Common Community Questions
[p]As we wrap up the second of our TSW6 Roadmaps, I wanted to address some of the top areas and questions we're getting from across the community, so that we can help support you all as we approach the release of Train Sim World 6.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: Is Caltrain Content returning to TSW?[/p][p]Yes! Within the first month after Train Sim World 6 launches, we’ll release unbranded versions of the following add-ons. If you already own the Caltrain-branded versions, you’ll be able to download the unbranded versions for free on the same platform and account.[/p]
 • [p]Peninsular Corridor: San Francisco – San Jose[/p]
 • [p]MP36PH-3C Baby Bullet[/p]
 • [p]MP15DC Diesel Switcher[/p]
[p][/p][p]Q: Will there be Regional Bundles this year?[/p][p]For TSW6's launch, we won't have the Regional bundles we've created for past TSW titles, simply because the Free Starter Pack now offers an easier method to claim these bundles, and it helps us simplify our store pages by reducing the volume of options available to players.[/p][p]After the full launch on September 30th, you can gain access to TSW6 by claiming the Free Starter Pack, and then purchase any of the three core routes/deluxe locos as separate add-ons, which should offer you the same outcome as our regional bundles would, and hopefully make it an easier experience to understand.[/p][p]Please see our Purchasing TSW6 FAQs for more store-related questions & answers.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: What is compatible with Train Sim World 6 on the Epic Games Store?[/p][p]Regretfully, we will not be able to make all Epic Games compatible content add-ons available for players upon release. The Epic Games Store will only support a curated selection of the most played compatible content. Therefore, you may not be able to access everything you purchased in previous games. However, access to any content you have already purchased will remain in the game you purchased it for.[/p][p]View the list of compatible content for the Epic Games Store .[/p][p]We appreciate this will be frustrating for Epic players, and at present, we can’t provide a timeframe for when this content might be available on TSW6 – if at all. Please assume, for the purposes of where we are right now, the list as it stands is what will be available. We are working closely with Epic and our teams to support the best experience for players on this platform, and will let you know when we have anything new to report.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: Can you tell us more about the TSW6 Core Features?[/p][p]We've seen lots of questions from across the community about how the new core features are implemented, and how they will interact with previous TSW compatible content.[/p][p]Find a full breakdown of our answers in the Core Feature FAQs.[/p][p]We'll also be diving into more details for the Core Features in new articles coming next week and onwards, and we'll be able to show you them in action during our preview livestreams coming up throughout the month. (See below for a streaming summary)[/p][p][/p][p]Q: What will happen with the PC Editor?[/p][p]Our teams are continuing our work on the Train Sim World PC Editor, and we will be looking to find opportunities to implement the updates we've been dicussing over the last few months, including the Mod Manager feature.[/p][p]We'll aim to confirm more information soon about how we'll be rolling out the new version of the Editor to support TSW6, alongside these updates, when we have more news.[/p][p]Please see our full TSW6 FAQs for answers to many more questions.[/p][p][/p]
Preview Livestreams Coming Soon!
[p]We're getting ready to show you all TSW6 in action, with upcoming previews and articles that hopefully answer all of your questions, provide details on layers & more each week, as well as upcoming chances to see the content ahead of Early Access and Launch on September 30th 2025.[/p][p]

[/p]
Riviera Line: Exeter – Plymouth & Paignton
[p] Who’s ready for a trip across the Dawlish Sea Wall? Bathe in the beauty of the South Devon Main Line between Exeter St Davids across the Plymouth, featuring the picturesque Riviera Line branch to Paignton in this new route coming with Train Sim World 6!

Famous for the red-coloured cliffs, this scenic adventure brings us to Devon for the first time in TSW, with wonderful views that will keep you locked in Photo Mode for hours capturing the best screenshots possible.

And what’s that we spot on the camera? It looks like the return of the beloved GWR license! We’ve very proud to officially represent the trains included on the Riviera line in their GWR liveries, for both the new, dual-powered BR Class 802 and the Class 150.

Tranquil hills, cliffs and ocean waves are a perfect setting for a brand new challenge, as this line will feature steep gradients, sharp up/downhill banks and constant winding tracks throughout, keeping you on your toes across the mainline.

This route is packed with history, originally built in the 1840s by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as an atmospheric railway, and later transformed to standard traction – it’s significance to the region is paramount.
Back with the release of the Class 170 from Rivet Games, we brought the Cross Country livery to TSW! Of course, with this new brand, we had to bring in the…
[/p]
Cross Country BR Class 220 Voyager (Deluxe Loco)
[p][/p][p]
The wait is over – A massively famous sight across the UK, we’re finally welcoming in the Class 220 Voyager to your TSW collections!
[/p][p]
Born to suit the growing needs of the longest and busiest services across the UK, the sleek BR Class 220 has travelled all across England and Scotland over the 20+ years of service it's had on the rails.
[/p][p]
In Train Sim World 6, be a driver or conductor aboard busy CrossCountry services along the scenic Riviera Line. Accelerate out of Exeter and race by on express services to Plymouth, crest over the Devon Hills and hurry past the Dawlish Sea Wall.[/p][p][/p][p]

Get ready for your own voyage across the UK with Free Roam, presenting many opportunities across a huge collection of UK routes available in TSW, being able to pick-up and bring the BR Class 220 Voyager on your journeys across the UK.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Morristown Line: New York & Hoboken - Dover
[p]

Get ready for a meeting of two halves, from historic to present, bustling cityscapes to rural forests, or older EMUs to modern traction – the Morristown Line will offer a very unique driving experience.
[/p][p]

From concrete walls to coniferous trees, dive into a lively route, starting at one of the busiest cities in the world, heading westbound across the Northeast Corridor, through the suburbs of the Morris & Essex county and onwards to Dover for a 40 mile adventure.

Get onboard with the new NJ TRANSIT® Arrow III EMU, an iconic statement of New Jersey’s commuter railroading scene, included with the Morristown Line route, which is an older unit built in the 70s, which features an antiquated control system – with no reverser, it’s either forwards or backwards, you’ll get a classic feel when driving.

Also included on the line is the NJ TRANSIT® ALP-46, a more modern electric locomotive to compliment your collection and give you a different experience across the line, coming with the NJ TRANSIT® Multi-Level and cab cars.

Depart from Hoboken in the Arrow III, through the 1908 Bergen Tunnels, onwards to Newark and Orange to ultimately reach Dover station, or take the modern ALP-46 electric locomotive & MultiLevel cars on push/pull electric services bound for the Big Apple.[/p][p][/p]
NJ TRANSIT® ALP-45DP Electro-Diesel (Deluxe Loco)
[p]

Arriving to TSW for the first time, here comes a brand-new dual-power loco that mixes the best of overhead electric and diesel running.

[/p][p]
The ALP-45DP is a modern and innovative locomotive that entered service in the early 2010s. Replacing ageing diesels, the ALP-45 is fitted with both a pantograph, and a diesel engine for dual-mode operation; this makes the loco capable of running across New Jersey’s unelectrified lines.

[/p][p]
Unlike the ALP-46, the ALP-45DP is only a single-cab locomotive to make room inside for two turbocharged V12 engines, which combined are able to push and pull commuter trains away from the wires with 4200 horsepower under the hood. When making use of overhead wires, the ALP-45 can draw power from both the Morristown Division’s 25kV wires, and Newark’s 12kV setup, allowing them to operate to and from both Hoboken Terminal and New York Penn Station.
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden
[p]

Prepare yourselves for a trip along the oldest long-distance railway in Germany, now heading all the way to Leipzig with modern ICE, regional and freight traffic.

[/p][p]
For those familiar with the original Dresden-Riesa line from TSW2, this new updated route completely overhauls and revitalises the entire experience, offering the full journey to Leipzig, extending the total track to a massive 160km, and featuring over 40 stations across the entire length!

The Riesa-Leipzig extension is all high speed, providing a greater run for IC and ICE traffic, and adding value to all regional journeys, and additionally the route will also feature the Dresden-Coswig branch via the massive Friedrichstadt freight yard, which also boosts existing passenger services.

Included with this route is a range of locomotives, primarily featuring the DB BR 411 ICE-T and the DB BR 442 Talent 2 for ICE and IC traffic, as well as the DB BR 146 + Dostos and DB BR 185 for freight services.

Additionally with Leipzig-Dresden, you'll be granted entitlements for the original Nahverkehr Dresden route Add-on, providing even more stock for you to use in TSW6![/p]
DB BR 294 Diesel Shunter (Deluxe Loco)
[p]

Popular across Germany, pick up the DB BR 294 shunting locomotive and unlock new gameplay across the yards and industries of Leipzig-Dresden with classic diesel power.

The BR 294, originally known as the V 90 series, were built in the 1960s & 70s as heavy shunting locomotives. Their weight and power made them suitable for shunting long trains, but also transporting wagons between different locations. In the 1990s a fleet overhaul saw 290 locos rebuilt & reclassified as the BR 294.

Despite their age, and with multiple locos retired in favour of newer traction, many 294s can still be found working today, holding onto local train duties and preparing long-distance freight for mainline traction to take onward.[/p][p][/p][p]

[p][/p]
Train Sim World 6 Core Features
[p][/p][p]New Feature: Random Events
It’s time to expect the unexpected – Randomised events are coming to Train Sim World 6 to completely change your game sessions and introduce a new level of variety. You will encounter two types of random events during gameplay:

Signal Delays
A chance for some signals to take longer to update than expected, reflecting the realistic short delays due to human-operation for updating signal clearance.

Whilst this impact usually only results in waits of a few seconds longer than expected, due to the knock-on effect this can cause over a long journey, this can cascade and completely shift how you experience the run from one session to the next. You may end up further ahead, or stuck behind, other AI trains on the network, resulting in new challenges and situations requiring further awareness of the scenario unfolding around you.

Temporary Speed Restrictions
A very popular request from players, temporary speed restrictions are also simulating the reality of railway operation, due to situations such as damage to the line, or railway workers around the tracks, causing a needed reason to limit the speed.
Safety speed restrictions can now be randomly placed across the track, causing moments where you’ll need to adjust your speed for a short section of track, and then speed-up to continue afterwards. At the beginning of your session, you’ll be given a briefing to outline where all the temporary speed restrictions will be, so you can plan ahead.

These two random events were top player-requests from our TSW Winter Survey and will provide a complete unique experience to playing the game, especially when in combination with eachother!

Don’t fancy the chaos? In the event you’re not looking for the extra level of challenge, or hoping for a smoother journey - you will also be given the ability to toggle off both of the Random Events from happening in your next session easily within the settings menu.

New Feature: Train Faults
Continuing the theme of providing unique and new gameplay to each of your sessions in Train Sim World, the next feature coming is Train Faults – adding an unpredictable realistic element to your services that may need urgent attention![/p][p]
Whenever these faults occur, a pop-up will walk you through the needed steps in order to resolve the issue – You’ll never feel lost on how to resolve the faults, however, you will need to stay prepared in case it changes your plan![/p][p]
Players will experience a wide range of faults on their trains, including:[/p]
 • [p]Stuck/Broken wiper blades[/p]
 • [p]Headlight malfunctions[/p]
 • [p]Dynamic Brake Failure[/p]
 • [p]Tilt faults for tilting trains[/p]
 • [p]And many more![/p]
[p]Matt: “Even if nothing goes wrong – these new train faults will keep you on edge, you’ll find the experience driving will be different because you’re anticipating the scenario if something does happen, which keeps the gameplay exciting!”
Like Random Events, if you don’t want to Train Faults during your gameplay sessions, you can easily toggle them off in the settings menu.

New Feature: Platform & Train Announcements
After Random Events, announcements were the second-most highly voted core feature that you wanted to see, and from the speculation across the community, it’s fair to say many of you were grateful to hear the good news of its arrival in Train Sim World 6!
Fully integrated into the on-board systems, with PIS and Tannoy’s around the trains, the movement and activity of trains flowing in and out of stations will be played audibly, adding an extra level of realism that we’re excited to finally bring to you all.

If you’re standing around on platforms, you’ll hear the key information broadcast, such as when the next train is arriving, when it’s departing, and how many stops are coming up.

And whilst we’re keeping an ear out for the next announcements, we’ll also be listening for your feedback on this new feature, and how this new level of immersion is elevating your game sessions!

New Feature: Passenger Ambient Audio
On top of all the TSW6 features we’ve outlined above, we have a new feature we'd like to announce today, the most-requested existing feature to improve in TSW, following your feedback in our recent player surveys - it's of course our wonderful passengers!

The audio team have been focussing increasing the immersion you feel when playing any game sessions, either in timetable services, scenarios, or when putting on the conductor’s hat. Coming with TSW6 will be all new Passenger Ambient Audio – adding new noises and chattering in coaches that dynamically adapts in volume based on how many passengers are seated in a single area.

We’re hoping this change goes hand-in-hand with our announcements, making the audio experience across TSW more complete, and keep the world feeling more alive than ever.

Additional Improvements
Alongside the passenger improvements, we’ve also continued to improve other aspects of the game to ensure the experience is the best as possible.

Training Center – A New Free Loco!
Firstly, we’re adding the SD40-2 US locomotive into Training Center as a free locomotive for everyone to enjoy, helping more people get onboard with US content, and give everyone who picks up TSW6, or even the Free Starter Pack, a whole new loco to play with in Training Center or Free Roam!

Memory and Robustness
Back in June 2025, we shared the first stages of our major reworks to memory and robustness in Train Sim World, to improve the experience as much as possible for all our platforms, and give players more options to manage their memory with new settings.

Our focus has continued on these optimisations, with our priorities aimed at tackling blurry textures, visual fidelity, and making the most out of available memory.[/p][p][/p]
Play for Free with the Free Starter Pack!
[p]We’re extremely proud to announce the return of the Free Starter Pack for TSW6, following the success last year, this is your entry point to jump into the latest version of Train Sim World at no cost.
