Launch day bugfix patch!

Quick one to get us started: gave the game the ability to detect/handle corrupted saves! If the game fails when loading your save for whatever reason, it'll copy your corrupted save file to a backup, create a new save file, and notify you.

I'm excited to announce that FISH FEAR ME is out now, with a 20% launch discount!!!

It's been a long road to release, and I'm very grateful to have walked it with the help of every person who gave feedback on the demo. I'm happy to report that the game has become close to the best version of itself, and I hope each and every one of you enjoys the finished product!!

FISH FEAR ME is coming out FEBRUARY 21st!!

I'm incredibly excited to announce that FISH FEAR ME will be coming out February 21st!! Wishlist it now to get notified when the game launches:

MORE DETAILS:
  • The game will be launching on February 21st for $9.99, with a 20% discount for the first two weeks (so $7.99 in practice).
  • It features three maps, fifteen biomes, sixteen boats, thirty weapons, and 150ish fish to catch. If playtests are anything to go by, this results in somewhere around 30-60 hours of content for completionists.
  • It ALSO features a storyline exploring the Fisherman’s cosmic debt. To resolve this debt, you’ll need to delve into the eldritch waters beneath the earth, learn arcane rituals, and slay the Leviathan before it consumes you.
  • It’s about 3-5 times larger than the demo? At least. There’s a LOT of content here, including a fully-fleshed-out metaprogression system and fourteen separate game-bending lures which augment builds and give access to special ultra-rare bounties.
  • If the game launches well, I have plans for multiple free content expansions with new maps, boats, weapons, and more! The first content expansion will be called WOMEN WANT ME.
  • I will be taking down the free demo when the game launches. This isn’t because I’m opposed to free demos, but because the demo will corrupt newer saves and completely erase 90% of your progress if you try to open it after opening the main game. There’s no way around this outside of completely remaking the demo, which I probably… do not have time to do.
  • That being said, if you played the demo, the game should remember your progress when you start the full game, and unlock anything you would’ve unlocked at your current level of progression!

Thank you to everyone who played the demo, or wishlisted the game, or reached this page through other means! The game's evolved a lot since the demo a few months back, and I feel that it's turned into something really special. This game owes a lot to everyone who's provided feedback on the game in its various stages. I hope you enjoy the full experience!

Announcing the FISH FEAR ME Beta Test!

Hi cosmic debtors,

I'm excited to announce that the FISH FEAR ME Beta Test has begun! As I develop the game, I've reached the point where I need to be more active about pursuing feedback, so I'm opening up the beta version of the game to anyone who wants to participate! This beta test WILL mess with your save, so I recommend backing it up ahead of time if you want to preserve your demo progress in the full game! Instructions on backing up your save are available at the link below.

This beta test currently includes:
  • One new map (Shipwreck Bay)
  • Forty-four new fish
  • One new weather condition
  • A couple new weapons/lures
  • An additional metaprogression mechanic (Challenges)
  • The next major step in the upgrades shop (The Bell of the Deep)
  • Inscrutable altars demanding sacrifice
  • A region that seemingly has no fish, guarded by a gargantuan squid
  • Another region that just straight up kills you if you stay there too long
  • Probably a lot of bugs that still need to be fixed
  • A bunch of little UI/UX fixes that hopefully make the game more approachable
  • And more!

The beta's already got a ton more content than the demo, and I'll endeavour to keep the beta branch updated as I work on the rest of the game. I hope to see you there!
