Steam Deck Compatability Info for Danchi Days

Hey there! While Danchi Days won't have the Steam Deck verified checkmark until after the full game's release, the game works perfectly on Steam Deck. Enjoy it on the go!

Be sure to check out our official Steam Deck controller profile, as well: it'll let you use the Steam Deck's mouse pads to move the cursor around the internet.

10,000 Wishlists + Explore the Storyteller's Festival & Tokyo Game Dungeon!

Hey all! First, we'd like to celebrate reaching 10,000 wishlists! This is such an immense number of people interested in the game and it warms our hearts to know so many of you are looking forward to it. I (Melos - programmer/designer/music) - I'm also pleased because this is developer sandy powder and mogumu's first game, so I'm happy it will have a large audience to enjoy their writing, artwork and design.

In the meantime, why not check out the Storyteller's Festival? We're participating, and there are many other narrative and story-focused games there too.

We also took part in Tokyo Game Dungeon 7, an in-person indie game event. They've got a steam page too, if you'd like to see what Japanese indies are up to.

Thanks for 7,000 Wishlists! + News

Thank you for 7,000 wishlists on Danchi Days! We (Melos, mogumu and sandy) are so blessed to have the support of so many of you. We wanted to share some news updates with you.

First of all, we've decided to market ourselves as a "Summer Neighborvania Adventure." If you're interested in what this means, check out this video playthrough that Melos made.

Second, over December we released a Streamer/Youtube-only demo to some great reception. Got any streamers you want us to send the demo to? Let us know in the comments!

Lastly, our plans for the upcoming year.

We'll be showing at Taipei Game Show next week for a few days - showing the newly localized Chinese demo. After that, there will be a few small shows in Japan, potentially Bitsummit in the summer.

For the most part though, we will be working on an extended, public demo that we'd like to release sometime in the middle of this year. Please look forward to it!

Danchi Days is a Game Boy Advance-style quest to host a Japanese summer festival, inspired by Earthbound

One of my favourite anime shows is Sakura Quest. It's the story of an unemployed lady from Tokyo who accidentally gets herself appointed "Queen" of a struggling backwater village by the regional tourist board. From that case of mistaken identity proceeds 25 whole-ass episodes of Machiavellian haggling with crusty bigwigs over things like organising a concert. It's playfully dull, heartily mundane entertainment. No supernatural flourishes here - just the magic of paperwork and the thrill of bureaucracy.

I'm reminded of Sakura Quest by Danchi Days, a forthcoming cosy adventure with irresponsibly enticing Game Boy Advance-style visuals. It casts you as Hoshino, a teenage girl who's just moved to an old "danchi" housing complex and is trying to revive the yearly tradition of a summer festival. How will she do this? By means of haggling - haggling, and a bit of CSI.
