Artillery Overhaul: Part 1
It was found that for years the game has been using a wrong gravity, not any longer. Thanks to Newton’s Principia Mathematica the gravity is now universal and does not affect carronades separately, chain shot separately, double shot separately. All objects including all types of cannon balls as affected by gravity at the same time if they fall from the same height.
Other types of ammunition have also had their parameters modified.
• Muzzle velocity modifiers now apply due to shot type
• Cannonball speed reduction due to drag – now logically apply depending on shot type
• When shooting your cannonballs now also assume speed and direction of your ship
• Gravity – is now universal (due to earth being the same for all cannonballs)
Additional changes in Artillery overhaul will be applied in Part 2 which will deployed with the introduction of Arsenal building, which will allow crafting of rare guns.
Two New DLCs
• Travel Balloon DLC added. Travel Balloon will allow travel in the air.
• Santa Ana DLC: Santa Ana second rate ship of the line is loosely based on early under gunned (underequipped) versions of the Santa Ana class
Time of release depends on Valve's approval but will happen soon.
Server Stability + Quality of life changes for trading and repairs

Trading Changes – Quality of gameplay
Part 1. First 4 months of this year we were working on improving server stability and performance eliminating bottlenecks that were causing occasional crashes lag. One of such causes was NPC resources deliveries to ports which when applied to 200+ ports were causing significant overloads for the server.
Part 2. We were always looking for ways to provide the ability to trade for every player (even those who have limited time to play). Previously some players could camp the ports and take out most profitable goods for themselves (because markets were universal and accessible for everyone). Players with less time saw less profitable opportunities or had to travel longer distances.
• NPC trading good deliveries will happen once a day during maintenance.
• To allow every player the opportunity to trade daily limit of purchase has been set for every player.
• You can only buy 8000 tons of trading goods per day.
• As a result, every player from now has trading opportunities in every port at the time when he wishes to trade.
• Prices and weights have been completely overhauled based on typical bale size, box size, sack size or other measures of weights acceptable for the 18th century.
• Trading resource delivery locations also were also improved and changed
Looting changes
Immediate hold opening (especially by many players) was causing heavier loads on the server. Enemy ship holds (or sinking ships holds) now have a 3 second delay in opening. This significantly reduces the server loads especially in the end of the battles when you can loot from any distance.
Repair changes
Repairs after battles in instances were causing loads on servers and became a fake feature due to removal of effect of non-overloaded hold on speed (ship speeds were designed for properly fully loaded ships). To help increase quality of life, remove the fake feature, and help the server the following changes has been applied
Ships now automatically repair hull and planking and sails when exiting instances
Repair crafting price has been increased 3x to counter overall repair maintenance costs for the player.
Improvements and tunings
• Loki Mischief Hunt mission added.
• Loki runes no longer send players to battles that have been going for 15 minutes.
• Lord Capstan’s Capstan upgrade added
• Heavy woods (which were giving bonuses to hull armor or structure) have been reduced significantly, without changing relative positions of those woods in relation to each other. Best woods for broadside planking are still best woods for broadside planking, they just give less bonuses
• Shooting at the bow area was causing damage to structure of the ship (even at 90 degrees). We have fixed this and now you can only damage structure if you shoot at the bow at 30 degrees or less.
• Turning on yard power has been returned to the state before missing links patch. It was providing abnormal bonuses to turning on low speeds especially without masts. There are still cases where ships with 1 mast will turn well, but we will address this in the next patch.
• Battle ratings changed for several ships
• Third rate 440
• Bucentaure 620
• Pavel 500
• Wasa 450
• Leopard 290
• Wapen 300
• Ingermanland 300
• Indefatigable 290
• Constitution 360
• United States 360
• Tobacco plantation prices and volumes have changed (generally creating improved money making capabilities).
• Speed penalties on low structure have been increased
• Various technical optimization or improvement fixes for the server: including battle statistic optimization, battle logs collections, unnecessary clan hostility collection removal, optimization of requests and networking code improvements.
• Fixed bug that duplicated items in the shop tab
• Fixed desync outside of the circle of death in patrols if fleets were created.
• Fixed several other problems causing NPCs to run from instances.
• Fixed bugs that blocked mail to a list of players if the list ended with ;

Hotfixes on 8th and 9th of April

Captains,

Yesterday and Today, 8th and 9th of April, we deployed two hotfixes related to problems with NPC behavior in port battles and general battles.
Hotfix on 8th of April
From now on NPC in Port Battles should act properly and not run away.
Hotfix on 9th of April
Sometimes (In 2% of battles) NPC could not fight the optimal route and just tried to escape as a result. This caused issues for some players who could not finish missions as a result. We deployed a workaround today that will solve the problem for all players until the problem is fixed.

If you still encounter running NPC that sail at full speed please report it via F11 bug-reporter.
