• Rare guns

Coins might be exchanged in the Academy building to receive:

Hotfix: Pumps, pennant drops and minor changes in NPC distribution for events

Captains.

Hotfix have been deployed today.

 • Drop of pennants have been slightly increased (especially for 1-2-3rd rates)
 • St Kitts pump water pumping lowered
 • St Kitts hull structure bonus slightly decreased
 • All other modules related to water pumping or structural leaks resistance slightly nerfed.
 • Slight changes have been applied to other mods
 • Standard non elite NPCs had their yard power slightly lowered to reduce turning ability.
 • Number of NPCs ships sailing in GULF have been slightly reduced to be allocated to event NPCs (will be reverted on Monday).

Events will be announced later today.

Hotfix: XP and grape shot improvements.

Hotfix will be deployed today.
XP Changes

 • Level XP: Amount of ship kills required to level up slightly decreased. XP Thresholds changed and mostly lowered for all levels below Vice Admiral. Your experience level will remain unchanged and you might have gained rank. For example Kills to level up from 2nd rate to 1st rate were lowered from 45 ships (2nd rates) to 33 ship (2nd rate) kills to gain a level.
 • Ship knowledge (book slots) XP: Amount of XP required to unlock first 4 book slots is significantly lowered. Generally 1st slot will now require 1-2 kills, 2nd slot 3-4 kills maximum. Your ship knowledge experience have not changed and you might have gained unlocked slots.
 • XP For lower level ships: XP granted for sinking much lower rank ships has significantly increased. Sinking a cutter in Victory was giving 0.85xp and now gives 11xp (60% of ship BR). Sinking a Corvette was giving 25xp and will now grant 60xp. This change will make all targets valid and sinking them will not feel like waste of time. This is a major improvement for XP gains - all ships are much better targets xp wise.

Overall these changes will make progression less tedious. We will continue monitoring situation and make changes accordingly.

Grape shot improvements and changes
 • Grape shot damage on lower level guns increased significantly.
 • Overall grape shot damage increased slightly for all guns
 • Grape shot will no longer penetrate planking at any distance or any angle if planking HP is above 36%
 • If planking is above 36% you will only achieve crew damage by grape if you hit crew directly: to the deck at angle or through windows or gun ports.

Minor Hotfix: Weekly Race Update
Captains
We have updated the Weekly Race Event.

 • Ship class changed to 5th rates!
 • Thresholds for rewards have been updated to give a bit more for places other than 1st.
 • But this is not everything.

Tomorrow we will increase the cutoff time to 10th best time + 6 mins. For example: if 10th place is 6:25 then the cut off time will be 12:25 mins to give everyone a chance to practice and learn the race strategies.

Weekly Solo Race: Test your Seamanship Skills against other players.

Captains!

Try your seamanship skills in the Weekly Solo Race (so called Caribbean Cup). The race features tacking, turning, boxhauling and sternway through multiple gates.

Every attempt costs doubloons and all ticket sales go to the prize pool. Current race reached 197000 Doubloons. And the fastest time reached was 5:25 minutes.

Can you beat this time?

Future plans

For captains who tried it already. We plan to improve the race based on our first test.
Two things will change as soon as possible: More rewards for 10th-6th places; and time limit should be increased.

We will post in the steam forums the request for feedback and ideas.
