Hi everyone!

It’s been a whirlwind of development, playtests, polish passes (and lots of coffee and green tea), and I’m incredibly excited to finally share this with you:

Small Spaces will officially launch in Early Access on May 27, 2025! 🥳

It feels a little surreal to be writing this. It’s been such a journey to build Small Spaces and I’m really proud of how far it’s come. I can tell you I’ve poured a lot of love into this cozy little builder, and I can’t wait for you to finally get your hands on it!

At the same time it also feels like this is only the beginning. I have so many ideas on how to expand the game and I plan to take the next 9 months to do so. I'll share more details on what that means soon!

Until then, here’s a tiny preview of what’s waiting for you in the Early Access version:

🧩 Nine handcrafted apartment levels, each with a unique layout, vibe, and objectives.
🪑 Over 500 decor and furniture items to mix and match.
🖌️ Material painting system for walls, floors, and accents.
🛠️ Modular building tools including kitchen cabinets, stairs, wall panels and more.
🎁 Shop to unlock new items as you complete levels.
🎶 A first set of music pieces to support your design flow.

It’s been a busy and exciting time, so I thought I’d take a moment to share what I’ve been working on behind the scenes. We’re getting closer and closer to the release of Small Spaces, and it’s been amazing to watch everything slowly come together!

Here’s a quick look at what’s been taking up most of my time recently during development:

• 🎨 Big material feature update — you’ll be able to paint entire walls and floors at once, and choose different color variations in the options menu.
  
• 🗂️ Better asset organization — all items are now sorted into subcategories, making it much easier to find exactly what you need.
  
• 🧵 New decoration assets — added some cozy sewing- and music-themed props for new level objectives.
  
• 🛒 Fully functioning shop system (unlock as you play) — as you progress through the game, you’ll gain access to new materials and decorations to expand your creative options.
  
• 🛋️ Modern Japanese furniture pack — 90 new items to use in your designs.
  
• 🪑 Scandinavian furniture pack — 75 new unique items, many with color variations.
  
• ✨ Redesigned the Berlin kit — all assets and levels have a fully fresh look.
  

And last but not least:

• 🛠️ Bug fixing — I’ve spent a lot of time fixing bugs and polishing things up to make sure everything runs just right 🥳

I’m excited to share some news! Small Spaces is taking part in Steam Next Fest! 🎉

To celebrate, I’ve released a new demo update with fresh content and improvements. If you haven’t checked it out yet, now is a great time to jump in.

🔹 Tokyo Level Rework
🔹 New Level Selection
🔹 Two New Levels – one for Tokyo and one for Berlin
🔹 Lots of smaller improvements and bugfixes

Just a small note: This update might cause some save games to stop working. Very sorry for that. It’s just caused by technical changes during the ongoing development.

I am happy to announce that Small Spaces now has a publisher! I’ve partnered with Pretty Soon, a publisher that works with solo devs and small teams. It’s great to finally have some additional help and we’ll be working together to make Small Spaces the best game it can be.
