🚂 Trainatic Next Fest Demo Update!

It has been almost 2 weeks since the demo launch on Steam. For Next Fest, I wanted to have something a little extra to add to to the update as a thank you to everyone who checked out the game, provided feedback, and wrote reviews!

[h3]Shotgun Car[/h3]



Added the shotgun car! You may have already guessed based on the name how this car will feel. The shotgun car can be a powerful addition to your train when placed next to the right support cars!

[h3]Milestones[/h3]

Milestones are another way to boost your trains power. Milestones can be progressed by using certain cars or just making progress down the track. Milestones are unlocked from the skill tree early on in the game.

[h3]Additional Changes[/h3]

- Added a powerful upgrade to the grenade car.
- The orb catcher now requires the train to be going a certain speed before the orb starts getting detected. I've always wanted the orb to feel like something you had to race to catch.
- Balance changes throughout the skill tree
- Gamepad improvements
- Fixed a bug where the grenade car was sometimes not aiming properly on controller
- General bug fixes

[h3]Small visual improvement[/h3]

A small update to improve the visuals of the hit effect when a bullet or explosion hits a tile but the tile doesn't break.

Trainatic Demo - Patch #4

[h3]Storage / Storage Car changes[/h3]

The goal with these changes is to make the storage cap during the first few runs less troublesome. The current state of the storage support felt a little awkward as well. For taking up a one whole spot on the train, it could be a little more powerful right when you unlock it.

[h3]Changes[/h3]

- The storage support car now adds +40 to max storage by default (previously 0)
- Improved the description on the storage support car upgrade, so it's easier to tell what it actually does
- the base storage your train starts with is now 30 (previously 20)


[h3]Extras[/h3]

- When on a support car on the manage train screen, the visuals indicating whether a car is supported by the support car have been updated. Removed the red X and replaced it with a white dot.
- fixed a bug loading corrupted save files showing a blank grey screen. (like if the power goes out while the game is saving)

[h3]Grenade car changes[/h3]

The state of the grenade car at launch was maybe not up to par with how I would have liked it. There has been a lot of feedback on how it doesn't really feel good.

My vision for the grenade car was it was going to be slower than the spike shooter but be more, well, explosive.

- the base grenade explosion size is now 350% larger.
- grenades base landing speed is 100% faster.
- reduced the base fire rate. With how big the explosion is now, the base fire rate is roughly 2.5 seconds without fire rate upgrades.


[h3]Extras / Bugfixes / QoL[/h3]

- added a description to upgrades for support cars to better explain what a support car does
- added a description to armour
- added a description to fuel
- fixed a bug with upgrades appearing as if they could be purchased when they are in fact not
- added some text to the pause menu showing the hotkeys for quick depart and returning to the station
- fixed a bug where the mouse would not display if switching from controller to mouse and keyboard
- fixed a bug on the controller when trying to select a different car on the manage train screen

A big thanks to everyone reporting bugs and providing feedback on the game - Over the coming weeks I'll be working on implementing your feedback to make the game the best it can be!

Today I have the following changes:

[h3]Balance changes[/h3]
- Added an "auto acceleration" upgrade to the tree. When you start a run you can press this new button near the speed bar to always automatically accelerate when you start a run.
- Added a bit more starting fuel. This should make the first few runs last slightly longer
- Increased the starting accuracy of the spike shooter
- Increased the starting fire rate of the spike shooter


[h3]Extra things / QoL[/h3]
- Added a setting to turn on/off the crt effect
- Changed "deaccelerate" (whoops) to "decelerate" in many places
- Added a volume slider for the train "chugging" sound
- fixed a bug with the settings button on the upgrade screen
- fixed a random crash caused by explosions
