The Pioneer’s Journal #1 - Settling Down

[p][/p][p]Mornin’, pioneers![/p][p][/p][p]Before the first caravans arrived and buildings began to rise, settlers had to answer a single question: Is this the right place?[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Early pioneers learned to read the land carefully. They searched for water that would not dry up in summer, soil that could be worked season after season, and nearby hunting grounds that could sustain a growing community. Wagon train journals from the Oregon and California Trails dating back to the 1830s repeat the same hard-earned advice: water first, land second, everything else later. Where animals move regularly, water and food are never far behind.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Some settlements endured despite poor early decisions, but many struggled to prosper—slowly undone by small mistakes in placement.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In Wild West Pioneers, choosing your place to settle is just as important. Fertile soil, reliable water sources, and nearby resources like wildlife can support long-term growth, while a poor decision can quietly undermine even the strongest settlement.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Ready to make that choice yourself? The Wild West Pioneers demo will be available soon.[/p][p][/p][p] [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Your Frontier Settlement - A Closer Look

Howdy, Partners!

Today, we are taking a closer look (quite literally) at your settlement in Wild West Pioneers. From a couple of wooden shacks to a bustling frontier metropolis - every town you build will have its own history.

A warehouse connected to two production buildings, the circle is indicating the working range of the warehouse. Workers will be transporting goods from their production buildings to the warehouse for storage.

A full view of your main settlement at a fairly advanced stage. In Wild West Pioneers, you will be able to manage multiple settlements and even transport goods between them through special buildings called exit posts.

Arguably one of the most important installations in every frontier settlement - a destillery to keep your settler's spirits - and steady supply thereof - constantly high.

And if you think managing just one settlement was enough, we are finally able to shed more light on expeditions via the world map view - where you can send scouts and trading caravans to remote outposts to help them thrive along with your main settlement.

A settler expedition is on its way from your main settlement to an outpost via the world map view.

Wild West Pioneers will launch into Early Access in 2026 - make sure to follow and wishlist for more news in the near future.

We will also be running a small community beta test before the end of the year to make up for the delay and ensure that your feedback is heard. Just join our Discord server and register your interest in the Wild West Pioneers channel by picking the Pioneer role.

Until next time,

Aztecs: The Last Sun started into Early Access!

Dear Pioneers,

we know you're waiting to start your Adventure in the Wild West and build a City on your own, but since this still takes some time, we thought you might be interested in another Survival-City-Builder from us. Aztecs: The Last Sun just started into it's Early Access phase, and we're sharing the release trailer, as well as some words from the Developers with you!

🌞 Aztecs, the Sun Has Risen! 🌞

After three years of sweat, tears, countless design overhauls, art style experiments, and way too much coffee, Aztecs: The Last Sun is finally here in Early Access! 🎉

Three years is no small thing—during that time our little team has gone through three weddings 💍, adopted five new pets 🐕🐈🐢, and somehow still managed to finish a game about surviving in the shadow of the gods. Not bad, right?

We’ll be honest: making games is tough. There were bumps, dilemmas, and more than a few “what if we just rebuild this whole system again?” moments. But every step of the way, the world of Aztec mythology kept us inspired—diving into the gods, rituals, and city-building challenges was an adventure in itself.

And now, it’s your turn. 🌽
This is a tough game, and survival will test your patience (and maybe your sanity). But don’t worry: every fall is just a chance to rise again, stronger than before. And if you’d rather soak up the story, Story Mode is waiting for you too.

This Early Access release is just the beginning. With your feedback, ideas, and stories, we can shape this world together and make it something truly unforgettable.

So come join our community, share your victories (and disasters), and let’s write some Aztec legends together.

From all of us at the Aztecs team—developers, friends, pets, and accidental testers—
Thank you for keeping the sun shining. 🌞

We hope you enjoy the game as much, as we did while developing and working with it so far, and if you encounter any issues, or have any feedback, please feel free to share those with us. We're happy to help - and to listen!

Life on the Frontier - Residents’ Needs in Wild West Pioneers

Howdy, partners!

A good frontier town isn’t just a bunch of buildings - it’s the people living in them. In Wild West Pioneers, your settlers aren’t just numbers on a chart. They have needs, moods, and expectations, and it’s up to you to keep them happy, healthy, and hard at work.
The basics: what people can’t live without
Life out west can be tough. Your townsfolk need a few key things to survive:

 • Water - No well or river? No life. A steady supply keeps your people healthy and your town running.
 • Food - Hunters, farms, trade… however you get it, make sure no one’s going hungry.
 • Health - Illness and injury are part of frontier life, and without care, the population can quickly dwindle.

Neglect any of these and you’ll see morale drop, work slow, and maybe even people leaving town.
Whims: the little things that make life worth living
Once you’ve got survival locked down, your residents start thinking about more than just staying alive. Whims are small, personal requests - little quality-of-life projects that make folks happier. They won’t keep anyone from dying, but fulfilling them can turn a rough camp into a place people are proud to call home.
A roof over their heads
When new settlers arrive, the first thing they need is somewhere to live. Without a home, they can’t join the workforce, no matter how many jobs are waiting. Plan ahead - growth without housing just leads to frustration for everyone.
Satisfaction: your town’s mood
Every settlement has a Satisfaction score that reflects how content your people are. High satisfaction means a happier, more productive population. Let it drop, and you’ll feel it in every part of town life.
Prosperity: growth through good living
Taking care of your residents earns Prosperity Points, which show the world your town is a great place to be. More prosperity means more people will want to join you, and your settlement will grow faster.
Don’t forget - homelessness hurts
A lack of housing isn’t just inconvenient - it’s a real drag on progress. Homeless residents can’t work, satisfaction drops, and your plans grind to a halt. Out here, shelter is every bit as important as food and water.

In Wild West Pioneers, a thriving town comes from more than just buildings and roads - it’s about the lives of the people living there. Take care of their basic needs, give them reasons to smile, and your little patch of the frontier might just become the most prosperous settlement in the West.

Until next time,
