2020 Hotfix 9! Big changes

[h3]Thin Atmosphere[/h3]

Homebrew now calculates ambient pressure, and uses these calculations for parts!

This affects the performance of wings, props, jet engines, ramjets, and internal combustion engines.
Rockets, Solid Fuel Rockets, and Electric Motors remain unaffected by these changes.


The shock-cone effect also takes the altitude and pressure in mind, making it less visible with altitude, and removing it entirely apart from trans-sonic, and hyper-sonic speed regions.

Along with that, all engines now consider wind-speed in their thrust calculations as well!

There's also some visual changes because of this! You can now see the atmosphere 'thinning' out with altitude.

[h3]Smooth Spawning[/h3]
We've also added a new way to spawn in world and user assets, Smooth Spawning.

This will make it a bit slower to spawn everything in but, should decrease the amount of stuttering that could occur during spawning of assets. (This only applies to assets that were already spawned asynchronously, so spawning a vehicle locally will still try to spawn it in a single frame. Just to be ready as soon as possible!)

  • Added 'Smooth' spawning
  • Clutch rewrite
  • Props now get effected by Wind
  • Props thrust and drag decrease linearly with air pressure
  • Combustion engine torque decreases linearly with air pressure
  • Wing performance decreases linearly with air pressure
  • Jet turbine & Ramjet caluations now consider head/tailwind
  • Jet turbine & Ramjet thrust and fuel consumption decrease linearly with air pressure
  • Shock Cone now changes transparency with altitude
  • Shock Cone now considers wind speed
  • Shock cone now only appears briefly around 1200km/h and above 3000km/h
  • All speed-related sounds decrease in volume with altitude
  • All speed-related sounds now consider wind speed as well
  • Skybox adjusts several parameters to visually show the atmosphere thinning out with altitude
  • Weather script also considers altitude
  • Fixed issue where the game would fail to detect any world changes when the /sectors folder didn't exist
  • Fixed issue where the game would delete the existing /Sectors folder and fail to re-create it
  • Fixed some Memory leaks
  • Fixed chat not displaying multiple messages anymore

2020 Hotfix 8 | New Part!

[h2]Small Ammo Box[/h2]


This new ammo box is a lot more ideal for smaller creations, especially compared to the regular one! Perfect for little RC destroyers, or popping a quick weapon on any of your creations.

We can't wait to see what creations will pop-up with this new tiny part.

As for the other changes, we've got quite a list, with a lot of fixes

2020 First New Part!

Please welcome our newest part, The Weight


Ever wanted to weigh down a creation, but didn't want to use the Ballast due to its size?
Or maybe the minimum weight allowed by the Ballast was just a bit too much?
Maybe you want a more "diverse" part to add some weight..

Well fear no longer! For the Weight has arrived! Modeled by our new intern, D-Licious!

It scales completely based on the weight! So small weights will weigh a little, and lots of weights will weigh a lot!

As you can see in the gif, the difference in size can be quite drastic, depending on how much you want it to weigh.

What else is going on?

As of right now, we're making the final list of parts to add to Homebrew - Patent Unknown.

For those of you that have been watching our Progress Tracker, you've probably realized there's already a couple of parts on there.

This allows us to focus our energy on fixing more immediate bugs, and working on new features, while D-licious is working on some of the new parts.

Hotfix number 7 is up.

  • added rpm output wire for wheels
  • added suspension length output wire for wheels

  • expanded the world system to include assets placed in userdata/MyWorld
  • added chat command "worldscanchanges" to scan for new assets in userdata (the game will automatically check for changes on startup)
  • added world asset support for Warehouse (we can upload our world assets created in devkit or via other tools to the Warehouse)
  • improved copy pasting logic boxes in the tuner, they maintain links within the selection that is copied

  • made number value indicator more visible in tuner
  • exposed wing perlinScale variable "HBWing.perlinScale"

Another hotfix ready to hit the shelves!

  • Re-Added Steam Workshop import (now asks for import if it notices a change in files)
  • World now automatically unhides when entering test mode
  • FPS and Version display over UI items properly
  • Fixed issue where chat would display messages twice/thrice in some instances
  • Fixed Gun-Sounds looping in builder
  • Fixed Error-spam with SnowMod on initialization (which slowed down execution)
  • Added `Inventory.curGadget` reference (gameObject)
