6.3 Update

  • Deep Delves are a new way to play Delves in unlocked Factions.
  • When an existing Faction has a weekend event, a new Deep Delve Map will be released. This allows Deep Delves to then become available for this Faction.
  • Deep Delves have a cost of 2 Delve Energy + 10,000 Gold to run
  • A Faction must be at Delve level 100 or higher to be able to be upgraded to a Deep Delve.
  • Deep Delves are an empowered version of a Faction Delve, with a few differences:
    • Deep Delves start at a higher treasure multiplier compared to regular Delves.
    • Deep Delves guarantees a special new room that only appears in Deep Delves, the Gnome's Treasure Room. (more on this below).
  • The Gnome Treasure is a special room which will randomly spawn in a Deep Delve (so it can appear in any location except for the Starting Room and Boss Room).
  • This room will spawn a random Gnome that will give loot (like a regular random Gnome spawn in battles). The Gnome is unknown until players enter the battle.
  • As Deep Delves requires 2 Delve Attempts to play, we have added a new Delve Attempt purchase offer that players can access from the Delve menu.
  • This offer gives 3 Delve Attempts for Gems, starting at 50 Gems. However each time it is purchased per day the Gem cost will increase.
    • The Gem cost will reset daily.

We have expanded the Treasure Hoard in Factions.
  • Starting at Treasure Hoard Level 100+, players will now unlock a potion at set levels to aid them in Delves for that Faction.
  • At Treasure Hoard Level 200 players will unlock a Potion of Power and will unlock further stacks of the Potion of Power every 25 levels after that.
  • These potions are identical to the ones you unlock in Shop-Tiers in a regular event.
  • Potion of Explosion, Potion of Rejuvenation and Potion of Power can stack with the potions that can be unlocked during a Faction Assault event within a Faction.
  • Players can view all their unlocked potions from the Level tab in the Treasure Hoard menu.

  • Quest Conversations have had a visual upgrade to a new comic book style
  • Conversations will now autoplay through the sequences.
    • Players can still click to speed ahead to the next part or use the skip button to skip the conversation.
  • Over time we will make further changes to conversations with different conversation layouts, and add a wider range of characters into the story, using the existing Troops that have not previously been available until now.

We will be retiring our previous New Adventurer, Expert Adventurer and Master Adventurer Starter bundles, and introducing new Starter Sets for newer players in the Adventurer's Path Hero Shop.
  • Each Starter Set has a series of 3 offers that players can purchase
    • Offer 1: This offer gives an Epic Troop and resources to help level it
    • Offer 2: This offer gives a new Weapon specially designed to work with the Epic Troop, as well as resources to help upgrade it
    • Offer 3: This offer gives a new Pet that will give bonus Skill Points to the Epic Troop. (More on this new Pet ability below).
  • There will be 6 new Starter Sets that will be available, though only 3 will be available at a time.
  • Starter Sets will display in the Adventurer's Path Hero Shop for 3 Days before they will change to a different Starter Set.
  • Starter Sets will remember where players were up to, so if they didn't purchase an offer the first time around they will have a chance to purchase an offer at a later date when that set reappears.
  • If a player purchases all 6 Starter Sets, they will get new Soul offers they can purchase to further upgrade their Troops.
  • Older Players who do not have access to the Adventurer's Path Hero Shop will be able to craft the new Weapons from these packs in the Soulforge during Weekly events in that Kingdom. They will also be able to find the new Pet as a possible random drop from Pet Gnomes.
* Please note that PlayStation may not have all starter Sets available when the update releases.

As part of the New Player Starter Sets, we have added a new ability that Pets can have - Individual Troop Buff.

This ability will give bonus points to all Skills on a single Troop (and only that Troop). Upgrading the Pet will increase the amount of points given to that Troop.

We have made some improvements to the Kingdom Slayer Weapons
  • Kingdom Slayer Weapons will now not only deal double damage to enemies from that Kingdom but to any enemy when fighting a battle within that Kingdom.
  • Most Kingdom Slayer Weapons have had a visual update to their weapon art. These include:
    • Pistol of Adana
    • Tome of Karakoth
    • Choker of Zhul'Kari
    • Staff of the Fields
    • Bow of Thorns
    • Staff of Whitehelm
    • Lute of the Vale
    • Scythe of Khetar
    • Spear of the Pride
    • Shield of the Edge
    • Staff of the Wild
    • Idol of Darkstone
    • Scythe of the Blight
    • Chalice of the Peaks
    • Pendant of the Empire
    • Torc of the Dragon
    • Flintlock of Blackhawk
    • Runestone of Silverglade
    • Javelin of Suncrest
    • Aegis of Urskaya
    • Trident of Merlantis
    • Staff of Bright Forest
    • Scythe of Sin
  • To help promote the Kingdom Slayer Weapon bundles to newer players while they are playing a Kingdom's questline, the new players will see a pop up on the World Map for the Kingdom Slayer Bundle where they can purchase the bundle.

We have added an entirely new way to play out a battle. Autoplay will allow an AI-controlled player to take over the game for you in certain game modes.
  • Autoplay will let an AI play for the player within a battle.
  • Autoplay will be available for everyone to use.
  • Autoplay can only be used in Explore and Challenge battles.
  • Autoplay can be activated in a battle from the drop down menu that also has Chat and Game Speed.
  • While Autoplay is running the game speed will be locked to 1.5x speed.
  • Autoplay will only run for 1 battle so will need to be selected again for the next battle.
  • Players can cancel Autoplay by tapping on the Pause button in the top left corner.
    • This button replaces the drop down arrow button while Autoplay is running.

We have 2 new Achievements for this update:
  • Delved Too Deep: Complete a Deep Delve.
  • Power Overwhelming: Unlock a Potion of Power in a Treasure Hoard in 1 Faction.

  • We have made some changes to Faction Assault weekend events for released Factions. They will now release a new Troop for the Faction.
    • These Troops will be available from the Event Shop at first but will then release in Chaos Portals 4 weeks after the event.
  • We have merged the Gold, Souls and Treasure Map 15-Day Subscriptions into a single subscription called Daily Loot.
    • When purchased Players will gain an immediate bonus of a Medal of Orpheus, 50,000 Gold, 1,400 Souls, and 6 Treasure Maps
    • Each day players will receive 20,000 Gold, 700 Souls and 3 Treasure Maps
    • Daily Loot subscriptions will cost $19.99
    • This new Daily Loot Subscription will not be available on Switch, but we will be looking to add it in a future Update.
  • We have made an improvement to the Adventurer's Path > Hero Level so that when entering the menu, it will default to the player's current progress through it.
  • We have added a button to Adventurer's Path > Hero Level > Feature Pop up, so once the feature is unlocked the player can use that button to go directly to that feature from that menu.
  • We have visually updated the New Hero Pass Purchase popup.
  • We have adjusted the difficulty in Kingdom Quest battles.

  • We have fixed an issue where players over level 100 were still seeing the Adventurer's Path button on the World Map when they shouldn't have.
  • We have fixed an issue where Bomb Gems' explosion would trigger when the Gem was removed.
  • We have fixed an assortment of smaller issues.

GEMS OF WAR 2022 ROADMAP

Greetings, Adventurers!

As we approach Gems of War’s 8th anniversary, we have some exciting things planned for the game and thought it would be great to share them with our community: the long-time battle-tested warriors, the enthusiastic new recruits, and all those in between.

The graphic below is a small window into our development schedule, showing our best guesses at when updates will release, as well as the names of some of the features in those updates, and the special events we have planned. It doesn’t go into too much detail (yet!), but as each update approaches, we‘ll release more sneak peeks of what’s to come.

Okay… This might just leave you wanting more, and the image below has names that are often a bit more about the theme of an update, rather than details of its contents, so here are a few extra hints about what to expect in version 6.3, Depths Below.

The Depths Below will feature some improvements to how we can interact with Delves in the Underworld, including some expansions for the Treasure Hoard, and plans for adding extra troops (and maps!) to existing factions. There’s more too, along with our continued overhaul and upgrade to the game’s UI.

So we hope that has whetted your appetites a little, and we can’t wait to share more with you in the coming months.

6.2 Update

  • Adventurer's Path is a new feature aimed at players level 1- 100, to help introduce them to the many game systems that make up Gems of War. For those players, it will appear on the World Map.
    • For players above level 100, they can access the Adventurer's Path from the Hero Profile Menu.
  • Through the Adventurer's Path, players will now unlock all features accessed from leveling up their Hero. Players can view when a feature will unlock from the Hero Level menu.
  • Some levels may trigger a World Quest, which will unlock the feature.
    • See more on World Quests below
    • This is similar to the old Dungeon and Soulforge quests that players previously completed to unlock those features.
    • We’ll be doing more with World Quests in future updates!
  • As players reach each level milestone they will not only unlock new features or game modes, but also earn rewards.
  • Players can also purchase the New Hero's Pass to unlock additional rewards to help them progress.
  • Players can access the current kingdom quest line they are playing through the Adventure Button, which will also allow players to unlock new kingdoms and play their quests when they finish an existing quest line.
  • As players win battles, a counter on the Adventure button will tick up. Every 5 battles, the player will earn a Key.
  • Keys will need to be collected from the menu manually. Players can collect from 1-5 keys at once.
  • The Keys up until level 25 will be Adventurer's Keys used for a new special Chest, the Adventurer's Chest.
  • The Adventurer's Chest will contain a small pool of troops designed for new players.
    • These troops will also be available in regular chests for existing players to find and add to their collections.
  • After level 25, the Keys will be either Gold, Glory or Gem Keys. Keys can only be earned until level 100.
  • Players will also be able to purchase the Kingdom Weapon packs, and Starter Packs via the Hero Shop in the Adventurer’s Path menu.
  • Any player who has unlocked a feature before the 6.2 update will continue to have access to it even if they are lower level than the unlock Level in Adventurer's Path.

Some mischievous mimics have sneakily sneaked their way into Explore Battles….
  • After defeating a Mythic Boss, there is a chance that the Boss Chest may actually be a Mimic, triggering a new battle.
  • Defeat the Mimic Battle, to upgrade the Boss Chest to a Mimic Boss Chest which will multiple the number of tokens received by 2.
  • When opening a Mimic Boss Chest there is a chance it may be a Hoard Mimic, a new Mythic Troop.
  • Defeat the Hoard Mimic Battle, to upgrade the Boss Chest to a Hoard Mimic Boss Chest which will multiple the number of tokens received by 5.
  • The Hoard Mimic Boss Chest also has a very rare chance to drop a copy of the Hoard Mimic Troop (which is not available from regular chests).
  • Both battles against the Mimic and Hoard Mimic in Explore will be based on the highest difficulty the player has unlocked, rather than the currently set difficulty of the Explore Run.
  • If the player loses the battle against either the Mimic or Hoard Mimic, they will receive the rewards from the last earned Boss Chest.
    • E.g. If a player loses the Mimic Battle, they will get to open a regular Boss Chest and earn the normal rewards they would for that chest.

  • World Quests are new types of quests that live outside of Kingdoms. They can be used to introduce new game modes or as part of smaller stories that we may release in future updates.
  • World Quests can be accessed and played from the Games menu.
  • Only one World Quest can be active at a time, so players will need to complete any existing World Quests before they can play any new ones they have unlocked.

We have added several new Heroic Gems in this update. Some of these we will reveal in future Campaigns, New Kingdoms, or Special Events.

During Updates in 2022 we will be giving the UI in Gems of War a Visual Update.

As part of this in the 6.2 Update, we have updated the Chest Menu.

We have 2 new Achievements for this update:
  • Mimic Menagerie: Defeat 3 Mimic Battles in Explore.
  • Lord of the Hoard: Gain a Hoard Mimic Troop Card from its Boss Chest.

  • We have added support for players to be able to adjust the game speed from the puzzle game (so they don't have to go in the settings menu to change it). In the top left corner there is a drop down list which contains Chat and Game Speed Settings.
    • Tapping on Chat will take players to the chat menu so they can continue discussions with other players during battles.
    • Tapping the button again will close it.
    • Players are still able to adjust Game Speed from the Settings menu.
  • We have changed some of the rewards for completing a set of Kingdom Quests. Kingdom Quest Tiers that would unlock a feature or game mode will now give Gems instead.
  • As Warbands now unlock at level 28, we have removed War Coins from rewards in the final quests for the following Kingdoms: Adana, Zhul'Kari, Karakoth and Divinion Fields.
  • As part of the Adventure's Path changes, we have retired the old player progression tasks in the Adventurer's Board. Players who were in the middle of completing a task will receive mail with the reward for that task, and will be updated to a daily kill task instead.

  • We have fixed an assortment of smaller issues.

6.1 Update

  • The Soulforge can now be leveled up to Level 20
  • Players will need to spend Cursed Runes or Gems to level up from 11-20
    • The cost must be paid completely with one resource or the other - you cannot buy a portion of a level with one resource, and the remainder of the level with the other resource.
  • Cursed Runes are a new resource that are used to both level up the Soulforge from level 11- 20, as well as to craft many of the new recipes unlocked at those levels.
  • Players can earn Cursed Runes by defeating the Cursed Gnome (see below).
  • Soulforge levels 11-20 will unlock many new recipes. Some of these include:
    • Crafting Forge Scrolls
    • Upgrading Medals to the next rarity
    • Crafting Orbs
    • Crafting Guild Gifts
    • Crafting new content
    • Crafting a Vault Key
  • Recipes from level 11-20 will require Cursed Runes as part of the recipe.
  • We have also added older resources, such as Treasure Maps, as ingredients to some of the new recipes to give players alternative means to use those resources.
  • We have added a new special Mythic Troop to the Soulforge, Dark Smith Drenza, who will unlock at level 20.

We have made some improvements to the Soulforge for all levels:
  • We have added a new tutorial to introduce players to the Soulforge. This will trigger for all players who have the Soulforge unlocked when they play the 6.1 update for the first time.
  • A “!” icon will now appear on the world map to let players know when they are able to level up the Soulforge. A banner will also appear on the Soulforge button in the Games menu to let players know that an upgrade is available.
  • When a player levels up their Soulforge a new Level Up Reward List will pop up that will display all the new recipes that they can craft.
  • Players will now get a special one-shot recipe for each level of the Soulforge
  • One-Shot recipes, as the name suggests, can be crafted only once and only produce a single copy.
  • The One-shot recipes contain good one-time rewards for players to craft using Souls.
  • Once crafted, one-shot recipes will disappear from the recipe list.

  • The Cursed Gnome is a new Gnome from The Vault.
  • The Cursed Gnome is a rare Gnome encounter.
  • The Cursed Gnome will drop Cursed Runes when defeated.
  • We have added Cursed Gnome Bait that players will be able to purchase from flash offers, to get a Baited Cursed Gnome in either PvP or Explore battles.
  • If a player goes into a PvP battle with both Cursed Gnome Bait and Gnome Bait (for the Baited Pet Gnome), it will use up the Gnome Bait for Pet Gnomes first before using Cursed Gnome Bait.
To celebrate the release of the 6.1 Update, we will be temporarily increasing the chance to encounter the Cursed Gnome in Explores (outside of Gnome-a-Palooza) for the next 7 Days starting this Thursday.

We have added a new Heroic Gem that players will encounter when facing off against the Cursed Gnome, along with some of the new content that can be crafted from the new Soulforge levels.
  • Cursed Gems can be matched with Brown Gems for Brown Mana, and when matched, they will curse a random enemy.

  • We have added a new Shrine, the Shrine of Treachery, to go along with the Shrine of Cunning.
  • The Shrine of Treachery will earn 1 Soul for each Soul earned in battle.
    • These are bonus Souls and are not taken from any Souls earned in battle.
    • Souls must come from Battles, so Souls earned from other areas such as Tributes will not affect the Shrine.
  • Like the Shrine of Cunning, once the shrine reaches 50% of the maximum amount it will trigger a timed offer allowing players to purchase the Souls. Players can continue playing the game to fully fill the Shrine before purchasing.
  • Also like the Shrine of Cunning, once the Shrine is full, the Shrine Offer will only run for 48hrs after which the Shrine will reset and players will have to begin again.
    • Purchasing the offer will also reset the Shrine back to the beginning again.
  • The level ranges and rewards for the Shrine are:
    • Level 1-50: $1.99 USD, 400 Souls (max) + 1 Orb of Chaos
    • Level 51-100: $4.99 USD, 2,000 Souls (max) + 2 Orbs of Chaos
    • Level 101: $9.99 USD, 8,000 Souls (max) + 2 Major Orbs of Chaos
  • If a player levels up into a new level range while filling up a Shrine, they will continue with the Shrine’s existing max amount. Once the Shrine resets, it will then use the new level range.

We have 2 new Achievements for this update:
  • It's all about Soul: Reach level 20 in the Soulforge.
  • Curse Be Gone: Defeat 10 Cursed Gnomes.

  • We have added a confirmation screen if a player taps the “Buy Level” button in the Kingdom Pass.
    • We will be re-enabling the button in the current Kingdom Pass.
  • War Coin IAP has been moved so it lives on the Warband tab with the Warbands and Warband Boosters.
  • We have added a prompt that will appear if a player tries to purchase a Warband or Warband Booster when they don't have enough War Coins, asking if they would like to purchase some War Coins. This will bring up the War Coin IAP.
  • We have added a new Deathknight Armor bundle to the Shop - the old Deathknight Armor bundle will be retired. This new bundle is $19.99 USD and will give:
  • We have reverted the recent changes to Potions of Power, so players can view their bonuses on the pre-battle screen again.
    • Deathknight Armor
    • 10,000 Gold
    • 1,000 Souls
    • 25 War Coins
The new Deathknight Armor Bundle will not be available on Switch until January 2022.

  • We have fixed an issue where 5+ gem matches in a L or T shape would not give an extra turn if part of the match had 3 heroic gems in a row.
  • We have fixed an issue in Journey events where gaining an extra turn would count towards the number of turns taken and effect miles earned.
  • We have fixed an issue where the game would soft lock if the player tried to cast a board targeting spell when a gem creation trait caused a match at the start of turn.
  • We have fixed an issue where looking at the Wereverine's spell would cause bracket help text to appear.
  • We have fixed an assortment of smaller issues.

6.0 Update

The Kingdom Pass is a new event that runs when we release a new Kingdom.
  • A Kingdom Pass will run for 5 weeks starting when a new Kingdom releases. Over the 5 weeks, the new Kingdom will have several events that will unlock new content for it such as a New Hero Class, a Faction and a Bounty Troop.
  • While the Kingdom Pass is running, players will encounter a Legendary troop from the new Kingdom as a battlecrasher in PvP and Explore. Defeating it will give a Kingdom Crown.
  • Kingdom Crowns are used to progress through levels of the Kingdom Pass. Each level needs 5 Kingdom Crowns.
  • Each level of the Kingdom Pass gives a free reward. Players can also choose to purchase the “Royal Kingdom Pass” which will give an extra reward each level.
  • Players will only be able to earn a maximum of 10 Kingdom Crowns per day, with the chance to encounter the Kingdom Battlecrasher decreasing after players have encountered it 5 times. This will reset daily.
  • Players can access the Kingdom Pass Menu from the World Map, and it will have a notification icon when there is a reward available to collect.
  • There are 50 primary Levels for the Kingdom Pass.
  • Some details for the rewards in the Kingdom Pass are below:
    • Kingdom Troops: Several Troops from the new Kingdom will be available from the Kingdom Pass. Some are available from the Free Pass, and some are only available from the Royal Pass. Here are how the troops in the kingdom will release:
      • 1 Common Troop - Will go directly into gold chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
      • 1 Rare Trop - Will go directly into gold & glory chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
      • 1 Epic Quest Giver- Will go directly into glory, gem & VIP chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom)
      • 1 Legendary Troop - Will go directly into glory, gem & VIP chests (& will be in Event chests during the weekly event in that kingdom). This will also be available in a shop pack.
      • 1 Ultra-Rare Troop - WIll be available in Free AND Royal Pass reward tracks. This will go into glory & gem chests after 2-3 months.
      • 1 Epic Troop - WIll be available in Free AND Royal Pass reward tracks. This will go into glory, gem & VIP chests after 2-3 months.
      • 1 Tarot Legendary Troop - Will be available in the Royal Pass only, and will go into the Vault after 2-3 months.
      • 1 Legendary Troop (the Battlecrasher) - Will be available in the Royal Pass only, and will go into glory, gem & VIP chests after 2-3 months (this will also be available in shop bundle).
      • As weekly event troops or mythics appear for the kingdom after release, they will follow the regular release patterns for those kind of troops.
    • Kingdom Weapons: These weapons will only be available from the Kingdom Pass and Royal Pass when the Kingdom releases. They will become available via other means after the Kingdom Pass ends when the new Kingdom is featured in a weekly event.
    • Kingdom Pet: Royal Pass players will be able to earn enough copies of one of the new Kingdom's Pet to ascend it to Mythic. This Pet will also be available as a scheduled Pet Rescue or via random Pet Gnome Rescue when the Kingdom releases.
    • Resources: Some levels will reward resources that players can use to help level the new Kingdom or improve the Troops.
  • Once players reach level 50 in the Kingdom Pass, if they have purchased the Royal Pass, they will also gain access to 5 extra levels that may be repeated by earning extra crowns from the battlecrasher.
  • Players may spend 100 Gems to skip a level and earn Kingdom Pass rewards faster, or to assist reaching the end if they have fallen short. This option is only available up to level 50.
    • It cannot be used after 50 for players who have access to the extra Royal Pass levels.
  • Royal Pass players also have the option to purchase a Royal Pass Boost which will earn them 10 Levels in the Kingdom Pass. This is a repeatable purchase available to Royal Pass holders at any level, even for the bonus Royal Pass levels past 50.

We have added a new type of event to the game - Journey.
  • In Journey Events, players use a team made of a Troop Type and Mana Color, to defeat battles and earn Miles.
  • Players will be presented with a choice of paths to take and battles to fight. Harder battles will be worth more Miles, but will cause future encounters to increase in level faster.
  • Each path shows you the maximum miles you may earn as well as the level and type of enemies. You may lose some miles under certain conditions:
    • Lose 2 miles for each empty allied troop slot at the end of battle
    • Lose 1 mile for each turn past 10 that it takes to win the battle (up to a maximum of 10 miles lost)
    • If you lose a battle, you will be awarded 1 mile for each enemy killed, up to a maximum of 5 miles.
  • Some Battles will give bonus rewards of either: resources (Gold, Souls or Glory), or Skill Points (Life, Armor, Attack, or Magic) that will apply to future battles in the Journey Event.
  • Battles will be against a team comprised of a Troop Type - this is indicated by the icon on the map.
  • The first 10 battles will contain Troops up to base Epic Rarity. After that all battles will have Troops up to Legendary rarity.
  • After every 4 Battles, players will encounter a choice of 3 paths that will include a Boss Battle. The boss battle will be worth the most miles, but will be much harder than the other battles and will always contain a mythic Troop.
    • Boss Battles will be easy to tell from the other battles as they have a different frame from the other two battles and will be on the middle path.
    • Players are still able to choose easier battles instead of the Boss Battle to progress.
  • The Journey Event Shop will feature a new Guide Troop, as well as a new Weapon, and social collectibles (Portraits, Emoji Sets, and Titles).
  • The Guide Troop possesses the Pathfinder Trait. This trait will multiply the amount of miles from battles in which the troops fight (based on the guide troop’s level of ascension).
  • A Guide Troop's bonus will only apply to the event where they are the featured Troop. And can only apply once per battle (you will not get 2 bonuses if you have 2 guide troops).
  • Journey Rewards will be earned from a Guild's progress (like Raid Boss and Invasion).
  • Journey Leaderboards will be focused on a player's individual progress (also like Raid Boss and Invasion).

With the introduction of the Kingdom Pass, we will begin to introduce new Kingdoms and content for players to unlock. As mentioned above, these New Kingdoms will have several events which will serve to introduce new content to players over the Kingdom Pass. This includes:
  • New Troops: While several Troops will be available in Chests when the Kingdom releases, some will release either with events, weekly glory, or mythic release during the Kingdom Pass period. Others will only be in the kingdom pass. Eventually all these troops will move to chests (except the Tarot Card as noted above).
  • New Weapons
  • New Hero Classes
  • New Factions
  • New Pets (the number of Pets may vary based on the Kingdom)
  • New Banners
Our first new Kingdom, Nexus, will be released in a few weeks so please keep an eye out for it's announcement.

We have 2 new Achievements for this update:
  • I Would Walk 20,000 Miles: Earn 20,000 Miles in a Journey event.
  • It's Elementary: Match 100 Elemental Stars.

  • We have reverted the recent changes to Potions of Power, so players can view their bonuses on the pre-battle screen again.

  • We have fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
