Crimson Desert Confirms No Microtransactions, Players Will Need To Buy It Though

As Crimson Desert barrels towards its March release, the dev team has shot down rumours of microtransactions and stated it’s “a premium experience that you buy and enjoy the world.”

Crimson Desert continues to build steam as it heads towards its March 19 release date, and this time, the developers have confirmed that there will be no microtransactions at launch and the whole game will release at once (there will be no day-one DLC). The developers at Pearl Abyss confirmed this today, in an X (formerly Twitter) thread where the PR and Marketing Director for Pearl Abyss, Will Powers, responded to fans concerned about microtransactions.

In a previous appearance on episode 457 of the Dropped Frames podcast (found by GamesRadar), Will Powers detailed what titles should receive microtransactions, and detailed what kind of model Crimson Desert (a single-player RPG) would deploy. Crimson Desert Shows Off Outstanding Open-World And Traversal Mechanics In New Overview

Pearl Abyss has released a new feature-length video detailing the main character and the open world of their upcoming game, Crimson Desert.

The fifteen-minute-long video starts off by showing the beautifully rendered open world and massive cities with streets lined with NPCs. After a scenic overview, we are introduced to the main character of the game, Kliff, a warrior of the Greymanes. There are five distinct regions making up the world called Pywell, Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, Delesyia, and the Crimson Desert. The Greymanes themselves hail from the northern region of Pailune and are famous for their commitment to uphold the peace and unity of the world. However, the story begins with the peace of the world being shattered, which coincides with the arrival of the Abyss.

The Abyss is not inherently evil, but the people, including the villainous Black Bear forces, who use its power for chaos, corrupt its pull over the broader world and turn it into an opposing force. It... Read more

Whopping new Crimson Desert video sharpens suspicion that it's a really shonky Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

When I first played Crimson Desert I had trouble working out what it wanted to be – Spider-Man? The Witcher? Dynasty Warriors? Dragon’s Dogma? Jedi Academy? The first of three new talkthrough videos from developers Pearl Abyss has helped concentrate the game in my mind. This is a grittier medieval fantasy take on The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, isn’t it! Those airborne ruins are a dead giveaway. All it’s missing is the elegance and feeling of completeness. OK, it doesn’t have a magic vehicle editor, either. That I know about. Without further ado, here’s the video.
