Mystik Belle 60fps framerate boost update!

As a game developed in GameMaker: Studio, Mystik Belle has been initially released locked to the framerate of 30fps. I have since learned the error of my ways, embracing the light of PC Master Race: )
The game has been overhauled in order to play at a far more acceptable 60 fps!

Here are the changes in the new version RC5A37:
  • Added a main menu option to switch between 30 and 60 fps.
  • Moved all control-related options into the Controls sub-menu.
  • Added ability to map the dash function to a button!
  • Added a Game Over-like screen. When playing on the Easier difficulty, this screen allows the player to restart the current location.
  • Added lots of new sound effects for things that should've always had sound effects, but didn't.
  • Added controller vibration function.
  • Added an electric lift shortcut to the dumpster room.
  • Re-balanced all of the boss fights.
  • Added some new Belle animation.
  • Added a UTF-8 font mode for Asian localization. A very incomplete Japanese translation is included with the build (anyone wants to help drive it home?: )
  • Toned down some of the swearing in the Russian localization.
  • Lots and lots of fixes and improvements across the board.
  • Possibly new bugs, but hopefully not.

Note: Sadly I am temporarily unable to update the Mac version of the game due to changes to OSX and introduction of mandatory developer fees. I will resume Mac updates once I have the money to pay Apple their ransom. A massive apology to my Mac customers.

Mystik Belle has received a French localization!

Hello there guys and gals!
Mystik Belle has just been updated with another language option. This time it's a full French localization courtesy of the awesome Steam user Jelogisa, who has done the whole thing by himself, using the retail copy of the game.

So, whoever was on the fence regarding Belle's adventury goodness due to lack of French dialogue option - you no longer have an excuse!

Cheers.
Andrew.

Mystik Belle is now available in Spanish!

Hello there guys and gals!
Just as the title suggests, with yesterday's update Mystik Belle has received a full Spanish localization courtesy of one awesome dude - Javier Fernández Romero who did the translation work all by himself, using only the stock retail copy of the game. Flippin' amazing! Mr. Fernández does localization work commercially, so if you ever in need of such services, hit him up on Twitter (@windfish_), or via his website.

So, if lack of Spanish language option has ever been your barrier to entry, now you have no excuse!: )

Cheers.
Andrew.

Mystik Belle Autumn Update!

Hello there boys and girls. Autumn is officially upon us, and you know what that means – Halloween!
And what's more Halloween-y than Mystik Belle, I ask you? An updated version of Mystik Belle ofcourse!
To celebrate its first dress-up-and-go-get-candy day, Mystik Belle has been updated once more with things to please your eyes and your earholes. Thinks like:
  • 7 New audio tracks!
  • Brand new enemy death-splosions (for all of you who hated the CheetahMen-like 8-bit ones)
  • Better animation for Belle herself!
  • Small re-balance to the game's difficulty.
  • An optional E10-rated version of the game's dialogue! (Perfect for those who want to play Mystik Belle with their kiddies, but rather not explain to them what “douchebag” means)
  • Hey, if the game sells well this Halloween, I'll be able to afford adding even more stuff to it, like bonus scenarios, and additional languages: )

Mystik Belle Update #2 now with 30% more Nicky

Hello guys and gals,
Tonight I have released another semi-major update to my game. In addition to a cumulative bug-fix, the patch addresses a number of gameplay complaints.
First and foremost, the dash condition has been loosened, but in such a way as to prevent unwanted activations. I hope this kind of a change works for everyone.
The second change is also dash-related. The forest hall with the Soviet Bear at the bottom, no longer requires the players to air-dash all the way across, instead providing some new obstacles to be navigated around.
New effects and animations have been added to Franky's room and puzzle trigger scene.
Lastly - a few new character interaction scenes have been added late in the game for both, Franky and Nicky. While Franky can still be found napping in his basement lab, Nicky will be in her bunk at the dorms. Her dialogue is heavily dependent on your previous interactions. Unfortunately, players resuming a save file from the old version will get the dialogue resulting from the events where Belle outright ignored Nicky the whole time (don't worry - it's only a couple of lines of text, and once you find all the lore, the dialogue becomes the same for all event trees).

Either way - have fun with the game!
