2025 Summer Season Balance Patch Developer's Note
Hello, this is the Freestyle2 Development Team.
How is everyone doing during this especially hot summer?
Thanks to your continued support and enthusiasm, we've been working
hard—so much so that we barely notice the heat ourselves! To help you beat the
summer heat even in-game, we've prepared a set of refreshing updates.
We’d like to walk you through the key components of the 2025 Summer Balance
Patch, including:
- Trait System Overhaul
- New Skill
- Match Record's Search System
- Core Play Logic Updates
We always listen carefully to your opinions and analyze gameplay data to make
Freestyle2 more fun and balanced for everyone.
Now, let’s dive into the 2025 Summer Developer’s Note!
With the upcoming update on Wednesday, July 30, the Trait system will shift
to a seasonal format, meaning trait skills will only be available for use during a
specific period.
During each season, different trait skills will be offered for each position with
unique concepts—giving players new ways to attack, defend, and strategize
on the court.

In addition, skills that were previously exclusive to certain positions will now be
available across multiple positions depending on the season, enabling broader
and more unique playstyles.
The goal of this seasonal trait system is to introduce more dynamic matchups
and interactive gameplay through newly added skills each season.
Next, we’d like to introduce the new skills being added in this Summer Season.
Please note that all gameplay previews shown are from an in-development build
and may change upon official release.
¦ Fast Fadeaway
The Fast Fadeaway skill!
Compared to the standard Fadeaway, this version has less backward movement,
but allows for a much quicker shot release.
Use both the regular Fadeaway and Fast Fadeaway depending on the situation to
increase your chances of scoring!
¦ Fast Drift Shot
The Fast Drift Shot skill!
Compared to the original Drift Shot, this version has less lateral movement, but
also allows for a faster release.
It’s especially effective when dealing with help defense.
Use it in combination with the regular Drift Shot to create better scoring
chances!
¦ Power Alley-oop
The Power Alley-oop skill (tentative name).
This skill allows you to execute an alley-oop from farther away than the
standard version.
It helps limit the range of help defense and opens up new strong inside tactics,
especially when combined with skills like the Floater.
¦ Rocker Step
The Rocker Step skill!
This allows the player to quickly break through in a desired direction using three
directional inputs (left/right).
The move is designed to simplify fake break-through inputs that beginners may
find difficult.
By buffering inputs in advance, the skill allows smoother execution.
Because the skill skips the wind-up animation, even experienced players can
enjoy quicker and more aggressive drive maneuvers depending on the situation.

Next, we’re introducing the Match History Search System, designed to help you
easily review all records related to your Freestyle2 gameplay.

This system provides a wide range of information, including:
Your character’s recent match history
Performance metric changes over time
Comparisons with seasonal averages
The ability to view other users’ character stats
As you know — information is the most powerful weapon.
Track your character’s progress through this system,
and gain insights from top-tier players to level up your gameplay even further!
Lastly, to ensure even more dynamic and thrilling gameplay alongside the
above balance patch, we’re updating several aspects of the core play logic.
Key changes include:
New Shot Trajectories
Adjusted Success Rate for Shot Fakes
Tuning of Finger Block and Dunk Resistance
With these updates, we aim to deliver a clear and refreshing gameplay
experience for all players in the 2025 Summer Season.
