Project: Gorgon News

Update Notes: February 2, 2026

This is a small bug-fix update:
  • Fix bug causing monsters to camp player corpses
  • Fix bug allowing players to loot corpses they shouldn't (!)
  • Further performance improvements to client assets, including a new approach to horse texture management: Convert horse texture algorithm from the CPU to the GPU. This is obviously much quicker, and lets us compress the textures so they're much smaller now too - win/win!
  • Fix bug causing people to sometimes play instruments while they're sheathed
  • Party Members now get their own nameplate color! Defaults to green. To change it, go to Settings > GUI > Colors > Nameplates
  • Update default positions for Quest Tracker, XP Tracker, and Party Frames
  • Fix bug preventing buffs/debuffs with a number counter from being hovered over
  • raise demo player level cap on Cartography and Gourmand from 15 to 25 (so they can't accidentally lose irretrievable XP due to the cap)
  • more server performance optimizations

This immersive old-school MMORPG captures the magic of early World of Warcraft, and it's turning veterans into pigs to help new players out

There's nothing quite like taking your first steps into a shared universe. Whether it was the early days of World of Warcraft that first drew you in, or the likes of Neverwinter Nights, EverQuest, Ultima Online, or Runescape, the tangible sense of exploration and discovery is what made the best MMORPGs truly special. Nowadays, the focus is typically much more on guiding the player through those early hours and making sure they know exactly what they need and where to go. Project: Gorgon is a throwback to those magical experiences, stripping out guardrails to immerse you in its fantasy realm. It's just hit 1.0, and developer Elder Game is about to launch a fresh-start server with a rather unique twist.
