Winter Heat News

[p]As was briefly mentioned in our Monthly Update, we’ve decided to push back the release of Winter Heat. Initially it was going to be released on 11/11, now it’ll be 12/12! This is largely due to the classic game dev issue of not foreseeing how long the development of a game will take, and even largelier due to Oomfie.[/p][p]Developing the minigame (subgame?) took so long for the lead artist that not much progress was made in the main story art for a whole month, the programming of the Oomfie RPG also took some time that the other apps/minigames needed. In general just know that putting an RPG in Ren’py ain’t easy don’t try this at home!!![/p][p]But otherwise, a lot of progress has indeed been made for the other apps! Maps, Wittier, etc. It’s all coming along nicely. ヽ(*￣▽￣*)ノ[/p][p]Now with the side content mostly completed it’s time to actually finish the main thing. Yes instead of the other way around, we work in mysterious ways (the reality is that the side content needed a lot of silly programming so some priority had to be put there).[/p][p]But all this means is that you should look forward to all the cool stuff we have to show off in the game, see you on 12/12![/p]

[p]69 Hours Remain in the Winter Heat Kickstarter campaign![/p][p]It's your last best chance to support Yuri Kissaten's game developer dreams, and be greatly rewarded with an awesome yuri romance game that takes place through chatrooms, video calls, and social media apps! (There's also a full RPG Roguelike sub-game included because we're silly) [/p][p]Through this Kickstarter, you can get your own OC included in the game as an NPC, you can get an in-universe brochure, and you can even get your very own Oomfie plushie mailed directly to you. [p]The new demo update adds another app - the Gallery![/p][p][/p][p]Most visual novels have an image galley of some sort, but with Winter Heat's app system, you can expand the story and learn more about the lives of Javi and Shio through the Gallery. Not only will you unlock beautiful art from the main game by director and lead artist Fruz, but you'll get more art and photographs of daily life in Chile and Japan, divided up by different folders across time and topic. Discover an even richer story through the Gallery in the full game. And now it's in the demo, too, mainly to demonstrate what's coming soon.[/p][p][/p][p]The next demo update will hopefully include a sizeable update to the Oomfie RPG sub-game, as well as the Maps app. We're trying to get the demo as far along as possible before the end of the Kickstarter campaign, which still has about two weeks remaining. We're shooting for some cool stretch goals, so please support by pledging or sharing![/p]

[p]As part of our weekly content updates throughout the Winter Heat Kickstarter campaign, we've added a new app to the demo experience-- Test Your English![/p][p]It's only a couple minutes long, to demonstrate the type of gameplay you can look forward to in the full release. This is the app that Shio uses every day to train up her English level so she can communicate more effectively with people from around the world. How will YOU do?[/p][p]Give us your feedback on this app and especially ideas for extremely silly English language questions. Just yesterday, we reached our stretch goal to expand this app into an even bigger experience, so please look forward to that![/p][p][/p][p]There are a few other smaller updates to the demo, but mostly under the hood so the game doesn't break later down the line.
