Thank you for your continued support of "PLATiNA :: LAB".
We would like to provide a brief overview of the major technical issues currently identified in the game as of May 14, 2025. Additionally, we would like to share our upcoming plans to address and improve these issues.
Current Known Issues
- Certain keys (e.g., the [+] key on the NumPad) not registering correctly in specific environments.
- Key inputs occasionally not being recognized during gameplay.
- CPU and memory usage increase abnormally during gameplay.
- The 'Audio Buffer Size' option in Settings is not applying correctly and remaining fixed at a specific value.
- The game becomes unplayable or fails to launch when configuration files are corrupted or contain invalid values.
- Flickering or ghosting appears in the letterbox area when running the game in fullscreen mode with certain aspect ratios.
- System resource usage spiking abnormally while on the song selection screen.
We are also actively investigating a number of additional issues that have been reported by many of the DECODERs.
Improvement Plan
Many of the issues listed above have been confirmed to significantly impact the gameplay experience, and we understand that they have caused considerable inconvenience to a large number of DECODERs.
In light of this,
we will prioritize patch updates focused on bug fixes and feature improvements throughout the month of May. This will be done ahead of the upcoming content update and the launch of our first DLC, to ensure that DECODERs do not experience further disruption due to these issues.
The key changes scheduled to be implemented during this period are as follows:
Redesign of the Input System and Additional Configuration Options
The internal input handling system is being redesigned for greater optimization and broader compatibility. This update aims to fundamentally resolve existing issues where certain keys (such as NumPad keys or the [Alt] key) were not functioning correctly, and where key inputs were not recognized on keyboards with non-standard layouts such as AZERTY.
Additionally, the polling rate for key input events will be updated to support 1000Hz and 8000Hz frequencies. An additional option will also be introduced in the Settings menu, allowing DECODERs to manually adjust the input polling rate according to their preferences.
To further accommodate varying hardware environments, a new option will be added to the Settings menu, allowing DECODERs to choose between two distinct input processing modes in case issues persist after the update:
- Performance-Oriented Mode: Prioritizes responsiveness and input speed.
- Compatibility-Oriented Mode: Prioritizes stability and reliable operation across a wide range of input environments.
Optimization of CPU and Memory Usage During Gameplay
While some DECODERs have been able to enjoy smooth gameplay on laptops with integrated graphics cards, we have also confirmed reports of performance issues—including stuttering and frame drops—even on systems equipped with high-performance dedicated GPUs.
Our investigation has determined that these issues stem not from insufficient GPU optimization, which has already been implemented, but rather from a lack of optimization in CPU and memory usage within the game.
To address this, we will be implementing broad optimizations across the game codebase to reduce CPU and memory usage. This is especially important as CPU load directly impacts the stability of input detection. Therefore, we expect this update to provide noticeable improvements for DECODERs who have experienced input delay or missed inputs due to performance degradation.
Redesign of the Audio System and Resolution of Configuration-Related Issues
We are undertaking a comprehensive review and redesign of the system related to audio output devices. As part of this effort, improvements will be made to ensure that the game continues to operate smoothly even when unexpected or invalid values are loaded from the audio configuration settings.
With this update, issues such as being unable to launch the game due to incorrect configuration settings, or the "Audio Buffer Size" option not applying correctly, will be resolved. Additionally, DECODERs will be able to change the "Audio Buffer Size" setting regardless of the "Use ASIO Device" option's ON/OFF state.
In addition to the issues outlined in this notice, we will do our utmost to implement as many improvements as possible throughout the month of May. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and would like to express our deepest gratitude to all DECODERs who continue to support and enjoy the game despite its current shortcomings.
We kindly ask for your continued interest and support in the upcoming new content and DLC updates scheduled for release after June.
