RPG Maker MV - v1.6.1 Beta

Hi everyone,

We have now released version 1.6.1 in beta.

Based on currently stable v1.5.2, v1.6.1 updates nw.js and fixes 2 outstanding bugs.

To select it:
- Open up your Libray / Software section
- Right click on RPG Maker MV and open up the properties menu
- From the BETA tab, enter the password "openbetatestbranch" and click on OK
- Select v1.6.1 from the "Select the beta..." dropdown
- Steam will update, and you can check that the update is complete when RPG Maker MV displays as RPG Maker MV [v1.6.1] in you software list.

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to do the following steps before updating to ensure that when the update happens so your changes won’t be overwritten:
  • Backup your game! This is important!
  • If you haven't already, set RPG Maker MV's update to manual instead of automatic.
  • Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
  • Replace BGM files if you got it from 1.3.0.


V1.6.1 fixes:
  • Update nwjs to version 0.29.0
  • Fix to the loop interruption bug in embedded loops
  • Fix to the InvalidStateError after playing ME


Projects made in version 1.5.2 or lower needs the following changes to be edited with v1.6.1:
  • Copy the file "package.json" from NewData in your project
  • Copy the file "rpg_core.js" from NewData/js to your project js folder

RPG Maker MV - Downgrade to v1.5.2

Hi All,

Due to some currently unresolved problem in v1.6.0, the "default" build of RPG Maker MV will be switched to currently stable v1.5.2. If you are using it, (no beta selected) it will automatically update on:

Time : March 6th 2018 03H00 GMT

If you want to keep using v1.6.0
In the library / RPG Maker MV / properties / Beta,
you can select the v1.6.0 which will stay the same.

If you want to use only v1.5.2
You can already change to v1.5.2 as follow:
Library / RPG Maker MV / properties / Beta
Selecting v1.5.2 will let you make the change by yourselves.


As usual, please make sure to backup your projects, and update the scripts to whichever version you decide on using.

We have now released version 1.5.2 in beta.

Based on the problem reports with v1.6.0, v1.5.2 reverts the upgrade of nw.js and QT, but still contains the unrelated bug fixes and support for GENE.

To select it:
- Open up your Libray / Software section
- Right click on RPG Maker MV and open up the properties menu
- From the BETA tab, select v1.5.2 from the "Select the beta..." dropdown
- Steam will update, and you can check that the update is complete when RPG Maker MV displays as RPG Maker MV [v1.5.2] in you software list.

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to do the following steps before updating to ensure that when the update happens so your changes won’t be overwritten:
  • Backup your game! This is important!
  • If you haven't already, set RPG Maker MV's update to manual instead of automatic.
  • Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
  • Replace BGM files if you got it from 1.3.0.


V1.5.2 fixes:
  • Fix to file sorting and filename case dependency on windows
  • Removal of the developer tools warning in debug tools
  • Fix to experience/stats parameter curve glitches
  • Fix to escape to work on Skill/Items
  • Update translations
  • Fix to the crash that could happen on plugin window selection
  • fix to wrong dots on tileset and wrong face graphics People1.png, Inside_B.png, Dungeon_B.png, and Outside_C.png
  • Fix to Break Loop not working correctly
  • Change to the battle background behavior: setting it to none will not show any background for that part, including on world map

Sorry for the problems on v1.6.0, we will be looking to release a more stable version soon too.
