Age of Survival 2024 update progress, building system is going well!

The building system is about half way done. All of the wood building parts are in, and just testing out building a simple house here.

Using debug, so there is no UI for building yet.

Functioning torches and doors.

Next will be fixing some snapping points, and then moving on to building damage.

This video displays the armor system fully working.

The player is able to equip all armor items onto the 3d model, the armor reduces damage taken from weapons, and has durability damage of its own.

I am also working on the building system now, and this video shows the functionality of spawning a foundation building model inside of the environment, which is networked for multiplayer.

This development video shows the armor / clothing functionality.

The player is able to equip an armor item from the inventory window, and drag it onto the armor window, which then spawns the 3d model of the clothing / armor onto the player 3d model FROM THE SERVER.

Just a quick functionality video, items are still added through code right now for armor, in the next video I will show the armor being crafted, armor hit point functionality, and a 3d preview of the player model in the armor window in which you will be able to see the armor / clothing equipped on your own screen.

Age of survival 2024 updates: statistics, skill points / leveling, consumables

In this update the player statistics are fully functional. The player is able to sprint, and stamina is taken away when sprinting until the player reaches a point where they need to stand still and take a break to regen stamina.

Health and water stats decrease every 60 seconds, and when they reach a low point the player starts to starve, and will decrease health.

The player is able to eat a consumable item to regenerate health.

When the player crafts an item they gain experience, when they gain a new level they gain skill points which they can use to spend on increasing a statistic's maximum value.

Working on tracking down a bug with the statistics value, but should be fixed within a day or two.

Timeline, and features for the FULL Age of Survival Unreal 5 engine rebuild

Currently done :

-Character model and character controller

- inventory system

- crafting system

- player statistics system (video coming later tonight)


What is left to do :


- armor and equippables

- the building system

- storage containers

- create all of the final items in the game

- create the social system / clans and tribes system

- creating the open world map (initially the game will not be an infinite voxel map, but a large map more focused on playability

- implementing multiple biomes and procedurally generated foliage, rocks, etc onto the terrain

- creating an AI system

- creating procedural "zones" (areas of focus)

- creating a minimap

- creating the load / save system

- creating the steam sessions and front end widgets for steam

- creating the dedicated server setup and hosting


at this point the project will leave early access, and will continue to be updated on a regular basis, and implementing more advanced and in depth features like swimming, fishing, vehicles, drops... etc.


My timeline for completion from today for all of the essential features, and ready to play on steam is 8 - 10 weeks from this date.


Please keep in mind this is an ENTIRE rebuild of the game, using no outside purchased assets for programming. There is no making "this purchased asset" work with "this other purchased asset" and "that other purchased asset". It's all being done in house, it's all from one source, it is all fully programmed for an authoritative networking system from the beginning.


My original focus for the setting and artwork will remain, and because I'm using unreal 5, it will look much better than it ever could have on the unity platform.
