Because We C.A.R.E.: A Clarifying Statement About Our Recent Educational Video

[p]At C.A.R.E., we believe in transparency, transformation, and-above all else-you. That’s why we wanted to take a moment to address a few common misinterpretations surrounding our recent infomercial-style educational outreach asset featuring the NZ-1 vaccine.[/p][p]This one, right here, in case you didn't see it. You should! It's really cool, promise. [/p][p]Dearest citizens of humanity, and… those with pre-existing undead conditions.[/p][p]We understand that our recent educational media asset may have rubbed some viewers the wrong way. Some even called it “a war crime in pastel.” And while we appreciate the passion behind these responses, we see this as a beautiful opportunity to set the record straight.[/p][p]Let us be clear: this video was never intended to “brainwash,” “mock,” or “aggressively rebrand” the undead population.[/p][p]It was simply meant to uplift, inform, and convert-er, comfort-our diverse community of post-living individuals.[/p][p][/p]
Not All Corps: What Sets C.A.R.E. Apart
[p]From snake oil to gold-plated rat traps, humanity has always found a way to profit from a crisis.[/p][p]C.A.R.E. was born from that same spirit-just with better branding, cleaner syringes, and a scalable subscription model.[/p][p]When the zombie outbreak hit, the world panicked. We patented.[/p][p]While governments crumbled and your neighbours ate each other, we launched NZ-1 and a tiered membership model.[/p][p][/p]
About NZ-1
[p]NZ-1 (short for No Zombie 1) is our flagship vaccine. It’s fast, affordable*, and designed to reverse the worst symptoms of Undead Syndrome, including:[/p]
 • [p]Brain cravings[/p]
 • [p]Mood swings[/p]
 • [p]Spontaneous limb loss[/p]
 • [p]Emotional attachment[/p]
 • [p]Unemployment[/p]
[p] [/p][p]Most recipients report immediate improvements, such as:[/p]
 • [p]Increased productivity[/p]
 • [p]Lowered mental strain[/p]
 • [p]Glossier skin[/p]
[p](*Subscription required. Side effects may include existential despair, romantic detachment, and the inability to scream.)[/p][p][/p]
About the Ad
[p]Our recent media asset has been described as “cheesy,” “tone-deaf,” and “so manipulative it loops back around to being hilarious.” We take these comments very seriously, and want to reassure you that every frame was rigorously focus-grouped on live humans in a simulated empathy chamber.[/p][p]If the pink smoke, poppy soundtrack, or slow-driving convertible upset you, we humbly suggest taking a deep breath and consulting your local terminal pod for emotional recalibration.[/p][p][/p]
So... Porto Morto
[p]Let’s address the green, mutated elephant in the room.[/p][p]Yes, it's true. We missed a small island during our global rollout. Porto Morto didn’t register at first glance. (We thought it was a coffee stain on the map.)[/p][p]But now that we’ve rediscovered it, we’re excited to offer its residents the same high-quality, lightly mandated healthcare enjoyed by the rest of the civilized world.[/p][p]Sure, they’ve:[/p]
 • [p]Mutated the virus into something… suspiciously stable[/p]
 • [p]Built a self-sustaining undead utopia[/p]
 • [p]Fostered joy, connection, and community[/p]
[p] [/p][p]Which is exactly why we’re stepping in.[/p][p]Imagine how strong their bonds will be after they’re cured, reprocessed, and returned to a compliant, productivity-focused society.[/p][p]We’re simply acting before their paradise becomes a petri dish of noncompliance.[/p][p][/p]
In Conclusion
[p]We understand this is a delicate time. But rest assured, we’re here to help, heal, and streamline the re-humanization process across all corners of the globe.[/p][p]Just know we’re always here, with a smile, a needle, and a dream.[/p][p]Don’t be a monster. Call now![/p][p]1-800-CUREME (Ask about our family plans!)[/p][p]With sanitized sincerity,[/p][p]Anita Heartwell[/p][p]Director of Outreach and Assimilation, C.A.R.E.™[/p][p]“Because it’s our business to care.”[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Devlog - Building the Combat System in Unity
Punchlines and Protocols: Building the Combat System in Unity
[p]It’s been a monster of a month, figuratively and literally.[/p][p]We’ve reached that beautiful, terrifying moment in development where every system connects. Suddenly, your game starts talking back to you. Like, talking. With punches, combo chains, camera shakes, and a boss AI that now throws syringes at your head.[/p][p][/p]
The Combat System in Unity Just Got Real
[p]Our team has been sketching, testing, and refining the combat system in Unity for weeks. At last, it’s starting to bite back.[/p][p]Each playable character is now equipped with light and heavy attacks, combo chains, and special abilities that trigger once their energy bar fills. Stu, our favorite undead underdog, was the first to receive animated moves. These are already implemented and feel satisfyingly crunchy in motion.[/p][p]Better yet, we’ve introduced family recovery mechanics. If a family member goes down, you can bite them back to life instantly, or trigger a slow-spread “virus animation” where they collapse, twitch, and rise as a fully reformed member of the undead resistance. It’s tactical. It’s dramatic. It’s very us.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Refactoring the Feedback System
[p]Combat only feels good if it looks and sounds right. That’s why we’ve started restructuring our feedback system into five specialized layers:[/p]
 • [p]Visual effects[/p]
 • [p]Camera shakes[/p]
 • [p]Color tints[/p]
 • [p]Impact flashes[/p]
 • [p]HUD overlays[/p]
[p]Altogether, these make up a modular response engine that reacts to every hit, dodge, or knockback with personality. Whether you’re smashing Cure Bots or dodging the boss’s ground slam, you’ll feel every moment more clearly now.[/p][p][/p]
The Boss is Online
[p]Our first boss fight is officially online, and let’s say it’s not here to play nice.[/p][p]The initial behavior set is fully implemented. It can now chase players, smash the ground with dramatic flair, and hurl syringes with frustrating accuracy. We’re aiming to finish the full combat loop next week, followed by intensive balancing.[/p][p]Watching the boss AI come to life has been one of the most entertaining (and chaotic) parts of development this month.[/p][p][/p]
Hades in Motion
[p]Animation-wise, our team turned their attention to Hades, the charming chaos king of the undead. His movement set is now in progress: idle, walk, run, sprint, and roll.[/p][p]Early animations are looking strong, with exaggerated motions and tons of personality. It’s only a matter of time before he steals the spotlight with his signature flair.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
What’s Next?
[p]We’re hurtling toward our biggest milestone yet:
A fully playable demo level with all major systems in place.[/p][p]It’ll include:[/p]
 • [p]3 playable characters[/p]
 • [p]Core enemy types[/p]
 • [p]A mini boss battle[/p]
 • [p]Procedural levels[/p]
 • [p]New VFX & feedback systems[/p]
 • [p]Final sound passes and visual polish[/p]
[p]It won’t be long now before we open the gates for a full hands-on experience.[/p][p]Until then, we’ll be here. Punching, polishing, and perfecting the combat system in Unity, one headbutt at a time.[/p][p]If you’re curious how the chaos comes together, follow us on Discord, Steam, or just send caffeine.[/p][p][/p][p]Wishlist our passion project, right here:[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink] [/p]

DJ Ziggy - The Bite That Saved Me

[p]crackle… static… soft vinyl hum…[/p][p]“You’re listening to Deadwave Radio… where the static’s got soul and the night never skips a beat.[/p][p]You just heard the angelic song “Thoughts in My Mind” by Donnie and Joe Emerson. A track that drips with longing. Speaking of which… I got a thought rattling around my skull tonight. One I haven’t spun in a while. Not about death, no no… this one’s about rebirth. Or, as I like to call it, the best remix I've ever lived through.[/p][p]But first, let’s play a game: What’s the best feeling in the world?[/p][p]Back in my human days, I might’ve said: the breeze of dawn after a night of poor decisions…But now? Nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the first time I got bit.[/p][p]I know. Sentimental stuff for a crusty old DJ. But give me one track’s worth of your time, and I’ll spin you the record of how I got here.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
ZIGGY, ADRIFT
[p]Back in the before times when I still had a pulse, I wasn’t spinning vinyl. I was filing listener complaints at the FCC.[/p][p]For years, I sat in a windowless office listening to every flavor of buzzkill whine about the “moral decay of modern music.” From late-60s prunes outraged by electric guitars, to pearl-clutching PTA moms convinced rock made their kids pierce their ears and hiss at the mailman.[/p][p]And I took it. All of it. For decades. Until one day, something in me just… snapped. Let’s just say a mass email went out with the subject line: “The Kinks didn’t ruin your marriage, Barbara.”[/p][p]After that, I wasn’t just fired, I was liberated. So I did what any broken, banished believer in the power of noise would do: I bought a leaky boat from a guy on the street, packed it with vinyl, and set sail to become the last true pirate radio DJ. No compass. No plan. Just music, mayhem, and a cooler full of beer.[/p][p]A few weeks in, sun-poached and hallucinating (spoiler: beer has no vitamin C), came the meanest looking storm you ever saw. Then came the crash. The rocks. The blackout.[/p][p]Managed to paddle what was left of my sorry vessel to a nearby island. Turns out… it was Porto Morto.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
THE CRUISE FROM HELL
[p]I was half-dead on the sand; sunburned, cracked-lipped, chunk of my left leg missing, whispering lyrics to the sky.[/p][p]“This is the end… my only friend… the end.”[/p][p]Then a giant cruise liner rolled onto the same beach a few days later, thankfully for me, the zombiric infection had also boarded. Sunhat-wearing zombies spilled across the beach like champagne foam at a cursed wedding.[/p][p]Didn’t take long before I got infected too. When I woke up there was no pain. No breath. Just clarity.[/p][p]And wouldn’t you know it, the only thing this afterlife was missing? A damn good DJ.[/p][p]So I fixed that.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
DEADWAVE RISES
[p]I dragged what was left of my boat to shore. Bolted some antennas to palm trees. Hooked my mic up to an old car battery and began broadcasting. Turns out the rest of the zombie community had no complaints.[/p][p]Moonlit beach parties. Scratchy vinyls echoing off the cliffs. The undead swaying in rhythm like they’d never danced in their lives, because they hadn’t. And for the first time in my life—living or otherwise—I felt heard.[/p][p]But then came the Cure…[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
THE WORST SOUND I EVER HEARD
[p]It happened one day during a full-on rager at the beach. Music bumping, potion punch flowing.[/p][p]Then—plop![/p][p]Something cold and sharp hits my arm. There was a noise, thump-thump. It thudded like a bad remix, offbeat, too loud, unwelcome. Took me a second to place the sound. Then it clicked: it was my heartbeat![/p][p]And with every thud, I was transported back into my old life. The desk at the FCC. The paper piles. That cursed motivational cat poster. It was horrifying.[/p][p]That’s when Rotzy appeared, cool as a cucumber. No words. No warning. Just sinks her teeth into my arm like she was dropping the needle on Side B.[/p][p]And before you know it, that horrible cubicle nightmare vanished as fast as my pulse.[/p][p]I was back on my feet. Back in the beat.[/p][p]Rotzy, baby… if you’re listening, call me. I still owe you a bite back.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
UNDEAD WISDOM
[p]You know, if you stick around this afterlife long enough, you start to notice something.[/p][p]Death… simplifies things.[/p][p]No more forms to fill. No quotas to hit. No censoring the all-encompassing miracle that is rock and roll.[/p][p]So wherever you are, rotting pretty on Porto Morto or just floating through your own weird little static, I hope you find your frequency.[/p][p]The one where you stop tuning in to them… and start blasting you.[/p][p]Now if that ain’t a slow jam outro, I don’t know what is.[/p][p]But enough philosophy—time to let the Stones say the rest.[/p][p] This is DJ Ziggy broadcasting from the edge of the end … and next up, it’s Jumpin’ Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones.[/p][p]cut to vinyl scratch → echoing laugh → signal fades out[/p][p]You’re still here? Still tuned in?[/p][p]Then I have some news for you, sugar skull: your infection has already started.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Might as well wishlist it:[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
