[Stories] Radio “Voice of the Wasteland”

This is Alex Murch, the Voice of the Wasteland and strange quotes.

Why do I stand up here? Anybody? I stand near my pantry to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way. And because you chose it as a surveillance target. You see, the world looks different here. Don’t believe me? Try it yourself. The moment you think you know something, you need to look at it differently, even if it seems stupid or ridiculous. Just come to the pantry and look into it as if you are the pantry!

Do you remember these words? It doesn’t matter. But, actually, it does! They say I made them up. But no, they’re definitely from somewhere. Tell me if you remember. In the meantime, let’s get down to business.

You chose the pantry — I looked into the pantry. All this time. With breaks for sleep, lunch and to “ride so that there is a smell of burnt rubber and gunpowder left behind you”. I didn’t see anything at first. On the third day I noticed a spider. The usual one, with legs. But on the seventh day I realized... I realized that I would never see anything. The pantry is empty. The mission was completed due to its uselessness. But I can’t do without the filler options in the surveys, I have to offer something else and hope that this time it won’t be wasted.
Behind all this “awesome” pastime activity I even missed the moment when our new Wasteland inhabitants descended from the mountain. And when I came to town, I spent a long time trying to figure out what was going on. Yes, the guys did a great job. It feels like they’ve always lived here. They assimilated rather quickly. Meanwhile, in dark alleyways, they already bet on who will arrive next to declare the rights to the territory and consider themselves to be “a new faction which cannot be defeated”.

But during the trip I managed to talk and exchange some pictures with my contact. Yeah, you missed the moment when the letters changed to contacts. I’ll tell you more sometime, but not now. So while he was lying about someone in blue windings with runes on his face, I looked at a photo in which everything was fine, and the smile didn’t come off my face. It’s gonna be fun soon. And I love fun. Certainly more than looking in the pantry all day long at the whim of my readers!

And now that I’ve told you everything I wanted, let’s develop our interactive experience a little bit. What should I do for the next issue of “The Voice of the Wasteland”?
  • Find the stranger in blue windings;
  • Write to Vala;
  • Hand over 150 coins to three random commentators of this news;
  • Upgrade my armoured car;
  • Sunbathe on the roof.

[Contest] The great race!

Hello, survivors!
Do you like to tear your engines at high speeds, skilfully enter turns and evade pigeons flying in the face? Um, yeah, we don’t have pigeons, it’s some fairy tale from the old world, but we have races full of adrenaline for sure!
We invite you to participate in the first stage of our new activity — “The great race”. The point is simple — you need to pass a certain track as quickly as possible! By the way, the range with this track was chosen among your works at the exhibition. But, first things first.

[Calendar] Crossout calendar — March

Have you already heard of the red tulips seen in the Valley? Wasteland knows how to surprise you!

Here’s a brand new spring calendar for March. The artwork is dedicated to the rarest tulips that were quite recently noticed by the Survivors. Someone will say this is a sign. We can neither confirm nor deny this information. Does this event mean anything for the world of Crossout? It’s up to you to decide!

You can download March’s Crossout calendar from the project’s official website in the “Wallpapers” section.

[Stories] Wolfhound

Late night. The world froze in anticipation of dawn. A decent man sleeps at a time like this. But one silhouette, warmed only by the flight jacket and the sound of the armoured car’s engine, prepares a trap. His targets are the thugs who separated from the Firestarters to start even more fires. That is why they began to annoy farmers and engineers of local villages. Wolfhound agreed to help the civilians. For a reasonable fee.

As an experienced hunter, he woke up around midnight to set traps in this pitch-black darkness. Wolfhound worked without the headlights on, relying only on a night vision device. He must not get spotted. Having triggered the mechanism of the last “Kapkan”, he went to cover.

His targets must pass through the gorge — this is the only way to the village. Wolfhound was waiting. He activated the visor and inspected the terrain. Finally, a movement. Barely visible even with enhanced helmet optics. Five cars, speed is about 40-50 km/h. Soon the darkness was cut through by headlights, and the roar of the engines filled the space. Light vehicles, painted with fire patterns from the roof to the wheels were approaching his position.

The prey itself hurried to fall into a trap — one of the cars accelerated at the gorge entrance, the other two were catching up, as if having started racing. No one heard a click signifying the activation of the mine. The next second, the bottom of the first armoured car turned into a barbecue grill. The other two instinctively drove around the “winner” of the race. But good reflexes and brakes didn’t protect them from the “Kapkans”. Harpoons went off without letting the cars stop.

Three fires tightened the gorge with black thick smoke. Two armoured vehicles in the tail slowed down and began desperately to search for a threat. It is unclear what was scarier - three burning carcasses of cars or the silence that followed. But the silence was quickly replaced by the screeching of the wheels and the roar of the approaching armoured car. Two machine-gun bursts followed. They were interrupted by a clang of shotguns, similar to sledgehammer hits. It all went quiet again.

It was getting light. Wolfhound took his reward from grateful farmers. He didn’t know where he was going now, but he was convinced that there would be work for him everywhere. Wherever the road leads, it was his way.
