The Son has really betrayed them.

The most lost one turned out to be cunning enough to hide the connection with the Engineers. The Mother caught an unknown impulse in the System a few days ago and sent the Handyman to check it out. The faithful child gave up his own business — the development of military optics — and took up the investigation. The disappointing findings were more unpleasant than System failures, sparkling the Mother's spinal cord.

— What do you want me to do? — the Handyman reminded her of his presence.

— Wrap up the investigation and take on more important matters, — Mother did not recognize her own voice. — We'll continue our move to the Valley. It's time to remind the Mentor what he owes us.

Jack is one of the last representatives of the Frost sect — a small closed commune, that held its cold rituals even before the disaster. A few years ago, the sect ceased to exist — one of its own could not stand the stress and burned down his native village. Nobody knows who it was, so the remaining Frost survivors are hunting each other.

As if redeeming some crimes, Jack is trying very hard to be kind to ordinary people and give them presents: maybe it's a raider’s head, or perhaps a necklace made of teeth.

The Founders' Sanctuary is a well-protected and high-tech base. The only ones who could compare to them are Dawn's children, but is that a surprise? They say that even Riley hasn't been human for a long time, but melancholy chthonic biomass.

These Children don't have a Mother of their own.

Her azure eye is in every corner of the Founders' base. Indicators, sensors, feel like her own neurons. When she connects to the System, sensing thin needles penetrating her spine, she stands guard.

One of the cameras sees the Daughter. The Mother observes her, keeping a record of her medication. Sensor manipulators slide on the shelves, moving the boxes while the Daughter deals with the youth who had occupied an empty warehouse. The Mother is proud of her girl, she became a leader.

One of the manipulators is failing, and Mother has to strain her mind to put the two boxes aside. These drugs will not be taken into account by the general registry.
