[Development blog] Syndicate. New parts of the future faction. Part 1

Hello, survivors!

As many of you remember, a new faction will appear in the Wasteland in February. This means that the time has come to acquaint you with some of the interesting novelties of the next season.

We remind you that all the new features described in the “Developer blog” are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not make it into the game at all.
Legendary impulse cannon
We will begin with the weapon that we have already presented before. It was really interesting to follow your various guesses, and we are glad that some of you have almost guessed exactly what it is.

So, this is a weapon of legendary rarity, consuming an incredible 11 units of energy! What do we get for this price? Quite massive, durable and accurate weapon with shot charging mechanics. The duration of charging a shot will affect not only the damage inflicted, but also the weapon itself and your armored vehicle. How? We are going to find out soon.
Special wheels with negative camber
Ever dreamed of building the perfect sports car? Then these “special” lightweight wheels are definitely for you! They will allow you to assemble the most stylish sports armoured car, and the ability to change the ground clearance at the touch of a button will add variety to the gameplay and your car’s appearance. The mechanics of changing the ground clearance are similar to the one we know from the “Stallion wheels”, but this time we will do without distinctive jumps :)
Epic wheels capable of moving in any direction (with strafe mechanics)
You asked us a lot and often about these beauties of epic rarity. Well, let’s find out a little more about this highly anticipated chassis!

These are the first wheels that are not divided into ST and non-ST. They are able to turn the armoured car while it’s stationary and during movement, allow you to move not only forward and backwards, but also sideways and diagonally. Of course, such freedom and maneuverability impose their own limitations.

You will not be able to reach the maximum possible speed on these wheels. Similar to tracks, augers, hovers and mechanical legs, their maximum speed will be limited. And in order to maximize the potential of the chassis, you will need to show all your skill in assembling balanced and stable vehicles.
Light epic cabin
This lightweight and stylish cabin will definitely appeal to all speed and drift enthusiasts. Yes, the drift! How do you think they will be connected? It will be interesting to read your guesses, and we will find out the correct answer soon in future publications.
Is that all? When is the update going to be released?
These and several other parts will appear in the game with a new season called “Syndicate” in February. Closer to the release of the update, we will share the information about other new details with you, as well as hold official video streams where we will try out new parts in action.

Stay tuned! There are only a few weeks left until the start of the new season!

[Contest] ‘Rebuild in Crossout!’ (27 of January - 4 of February)

Rumours about Scar AB's collection and the skill of the engineers who craft and expand it are rapidly spreading throughout the Valley. Recently, one of the trading clans turned to the Scavenger leader with the request to build several armoured vehicles to accompany the caravans, but with a special condition. All vehicles have to be similar to real-life models with slight modifications. The sense of style is not dead and gone even in this wasted world, and it's good.

We will select the top 4 entries, and their authors will get a reward of 300 coins and an epic "Amusement container"!

This week we suggest you try to rebuild this car:

All of the details can be found here. Good luck!

[Stories] Clean Island. Part I

Water oozed slowly from the huge tank through fresh cracks. The man in rags, standing nearby and occasionally scratching the back of his head, looked quite puzzled. The fact that the remnants of the camp were blazing around him didn’t seem to bother him at all. At least not as much as the water tank.

He could have stood like this for an eternity if he hadn’t been called out.

— Hey, Gurt! Hey, you frozen or something? Let’s get ready, it’s time to change the camp, otherwise these shooters will soon return and put all of us down!

The man turned around and realized that he is going to have a very hard time now. The chief will certainly make him the guilty one.

Psycho Pete, or simply Pete, as the members of the Lunatics gang called him, headed towards Gurt, clearly interested in the latter’s unusual confusion.

— Pete, we got a big problem... — Gurt started to speak, but the hysterical scream of the chief did not let him finish.

As he ran up to the tank, he fell to his knees and began to try to hold the water, which was flowing from the diverging cracks faster and faster.

— No, no, no, no, no, water, water! — Pete muttered to himself, trying to hug the tank.

After half a minute of this performance, he froze, as if some idea had occurred to him. He jumped abruptly and grabbed Gurt by the chest, pressing him against the tank.

— It was you! It was you, right?! Why would you leave us without water?! — he shouted to Gurt’s face, spitting and piercing him with a look of his mad swollen eyes.

Gurt, gasping for air, frantically tried to object:

— Pete, think about it, why would I do that? The tank got hit with shrapnel from the explosion, that’s true!

Having regained some control from the angry impulse, the Chief released Gurt from the grip — he immediately fell to the ground. Pete, having made some decision, called a man with a kind of epaulets on his shoulders, who was dragging a bale of supplies nearby: «Wahmister! Call everyone here! It's a holiday today — we will drink water! Liters of water!»

«Maybe, it's the last time we're doing it.» — he muttered under his breath.

***

A large group of Lunatics gathered around the tank, pushing each other with their elbows. Everyone tried to stock up on water or just drink as much of it as possible — it kept flowing onto the sand inexorably.

«...There’s nowhere to pour it into, you idiot! We don’t have another tank, all the canisters are full of gas. Whoever pours it on the ground will be left by Pete to get out of here on foot! — the wahmister publicly scolded one of his subordinates. — So go and grab all that’s left, before the tank bursts to oblivion!»

«If there is nowhere to pour it into, pour it into yourselves!» — Pete added with a nervous chuckle, heading towards the crowd.

To attract the attention of the gang, the chief hit the hood of a nearby wreck a couple of times — dozens of eyes immediately gazed at him.

«Right, daredevils. — He began his speech. — I still have no idea who attacked us, but we can no longer sit in this vacant lot. We leave right now, there's no time to wait for the rest, they will be occupied with the raid for a long time. But there is a much more serious problem: the water that you just poured into the flasks — that’s all the water we got. This means that we need to look for more, otherwise we won’t go far. We’ll search the place where I found this tank — on an island a couple of miles east of here. There are no other options, only to die here from thirst. No questions, get to your cars, fast!»

Pushing his subordinates and actively gesturing, Pete headed for his armoured vehicle.

Gurt, having filled the flask to the top, also moved towards his comrades, where they were packing the remaining belongings into the cargo compartments of armoured vehicles. Not reaching a couple of tens of meters, he was stopped by the chief’s call.

— Hey! You’ll go with me, we need to chat about something.

— Got you, Pete. Give me two minutes — I’ll go grab my stuff!

Gurt rushed searching for his bag — you can’t make the chief wait for too long. Especially if you had the honor to go on a raid in the same car with him.

[Stories] Radio “Voice of the Wasteland”

Hear my words and bear witness to my vow! Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my... Wait, that was for something else. Murch is here, your sentinel of the abandoned radio station in the middle of the mountains, and this is the new episode of “Voice of the Wasteland”.

Option number two was chosen, but we will approach the plan’s execution a little from afar. Because today’s episode begins with an unusual experiment, specifically with a top comment about the previous episode (spelling and punctuation are preserved):

“Like if you're so inconspicuous that you can take a picture from under the subject’s wheels”

Sometimes it seems to me that you are here only for my super-detailed photos of armoured vehicles and a red envelope. Why do you think I set up all these camera traps? To mention them in the text and simply forget about them afterwards? It took more than a week to install them. Or maybe you don’t understand how boring and lonely it can be here at times? You actually begin to get into the camera traps installment? So let me tell you.
 • First you go to a local village and find the first camera trap in a pile of junk.
 • Then you break it when you try to figure out what you are holding in your hands.
 • You pay for your mistakes with coins.
 • You dig out another one and this time you act more carefully.
 • In total, you find a dozen of these traps from the owner. Apparently they were packed in the same package once. At least they look similar.
 • You bring them to the radio station and lay them out in front of you.
 • You dismantle them and examine the broken apparatus.
 • You begin to understand how it works.
 • You learn that the traps require film.
 • You’re dragging yourself to the market again. Fortunately, things are not bad with the film in the villages nearby. Maybe there was once a film storage nearby? Who knows.
 • You set up camera traps along the perimeter around the station at a distance of about a meter and for almost a week you just try to take a picture of anything.
 • To be more specific, you manage to take a picture right away. But how do you know that everything is working as it should when you don’t have a single soul around? Run around the camera traps, trying to trigger them.
 • Of all the functions, you manage to find only triggering for movement and shaking. Your knowledge ends there. And you don’t need more than that, really.
 • For some time, you specifically look for, order, ask all the merchants about these camera traps (the merchants already recognize you as a guy buying some nonsense).
 • Then you stretch the whole net along the mountain slopes around. One under a stone, another one on a ledge and you hit a sandstone to get a fracture to install another one.
 • When you think that something interesting has fallen into the trap, you go to the trap.
 • You open it, covering it with a rag from direct sunlight. You take out the film.
 • You take the film to the station for developing.
 • But you can’t do the same with all cameras, as uninvited guests of not the most friendly kind hang out nearby.
 • So, you make a decision about the place that should be monitored in order to understand whether that camera trap will be triggered from close movement or not.
 • At night you will have to crawl and risk yourself in order to simply publish something in a new episode.

And someone will say “why the trouble, just take a picture of what you need through binoculars”, to which I will respond “then I wouldn’t be able to show you this”.

Well, survivors. What are we going to observe this week?
 1. Road to the mountain in the south;
 2. Road to the mountain in the east;
 3. Plateau, already occupied by a group of strangers;
 4. Anything at all;
 5. My own closet.
