Crashlands News

Our next game, Levelhead, is out today!

Levelhead takes place after the events of Crashlands. The Bureau of Shipping noted Flux and Juicebox's success on planet Woanope and decided to produce a huge number of delivery robots. The only problem: they need to be trained.

Levelhead is a level-building platformer for 1-4 players, and it's out *today* in Early Access! You can see what it's all about on the Levelhead storepage.

Thanks for playing our games and helping us grow the Butterscotch Universe!

v1.4 Couch Co-op Update

Player 2 can now play as Juicebox!

Juicebox's S.T.R.A.W.™ not only harvests resources but also brings additional firepower to the battlefield. But watch out, the creatures of Woanope are gonna try to stomp him, too!

But Juicebox has a few special moves up his mechanical sleeves - He can heal and shield flux, cause turbo and berserking, and even pull enemies with the drop of dbot!

And he's a great fishing partner!

How to Juicebox

If your device is connected with 2 controllers, player 2 can just press Start to join.

If you only have 1 controller, you can go to the Settings Menu from the title screen or the Control Settings menu from the pause screen and enable the Assign Controller to Player 2 option.

Other Quality of Life Improvements

Controller Support
  • Added the lock-on-target function to the left shoulder button
  • Right joystick is now used to select targets
  • Added Switch controller layout in addition to ABXY and Shapes
  • World map filtering system now also has controller support

BSID Interface
  • Loading time has been significantly sped up
  • Multiple perk-unlocks will only show one message now instead of hogging the screen top forever
  • Notification popups are much more subdued now

Story Mode
  • The Yellowstone outpost has been updated
  • The beginning of Bawg quests are streamlined to let you get back in action faster
  • Wild vommas have made the decision to become more active. Now they walk around!

Happy Juiceboxing with your friends!

Update 1.3 - "The Combover" has ARRIVED!

We had this big bald spot in Crashlands’ game design. The combat fell flat over time and player choice started feeling a bit sparse. After a long look in the mirror we realized that we already had all the wispy design strands necessary to get maximum fun-coverage... we just needed to comb them into alignment. SO THAT’S WHAT WE’RE DOIN’!

The COMBOver Patch features an overhaul of combat with 36 new weapons and a brand new COMBO system, plus new unlockables like the Hardcore game mode in which you can only die once, the Creative mode for those who like building magnificent bases or turning their maps into pixel art, and new achievements!

To get all the patch note details head over to ye olde Butterblog and read until those sparkling eyes of yours BLEED.

This update is ginormous and has been in the works for quite a few months, so we're really excited to finally get it in your hands!

ALRIGHT BYE.

Crashlands launches on Linux (Ubuntu + SteamOS)

Heyoooo!

We're happy to announce that after months of bug-squashing in Beta, Crashlands now officially supports Linux!

Our brave testers experienced it all, from bugged HTTP functions and dropped scrolling controls to UI's that appeared whenever they freakin' felt like it! Just look at this overlayed mess:

We'd like to say a big thanks to those Linux testers who paved the way for today's launch. While this build was more complicated than we anticipated, it really showed us the patience and warmth of the Linux gaming community.

So, without further ado, Put some Flux in your Tux and have a great holiday!

Stay frosty,
Sam

P.S. - We'll be destroying any new bugs in the days and weeks to come. Feel free to join other Linux users in the Crashlands Linux discord and let us know if anything is broke! (https://discord.gg/GXZQsh4)
