FFXIV All Saints' Wake release time - Halloween event finally starts this week

After a long delay thanks to the highly-anticipated release of the Endwalker expansion, Final Fantasy XIV's Halloween event is finally ready to kick off - in January, the new spooky month. We've got the full FFXIV All Saints' Wake release time and date below, and you won't have to wait much longer to get that clown costume.

Final Fantasy XIV's ridiculously-long delayed Halloween event, All Saints' Wake 2022 (2021?), will finally release this Thursday, January 20, at 12 AM PST / 3 AM EST / 8 AM GMT and will last until February 2 at 6:59 AM PST / 9:59 AM EST / 2:59 PM GMT - so you'll have just under two weeks to collect all the rewards.

Given that All Saints' Wake is the Final Fantasy MMO's annual Halloween affair it was expected that the event would, of course, take place in October - however, the big delay to the Endwalker expansion meant a lot of planned events got pushed back too. The Christmas/New Year celebration got away with it, but Halloween was pushed all the way to January.

Square Enix will start selling Final Fantasy XIV again this month

Popularity, I have learned from American teen television shows, isn't all it's cracked up to be. While Square Enix haven't been bombed by the local mafioso, joined a murderous D&D cult, or discovered their dad is a serial killer and they too have the serial killer genes (thanks, Riverdale!), they did find such overwhelming success with Final Fantasy XIV that they temporarily stopped selling the MMORPG. They couldn't expand servers quickly enough to meet demand, see, leading to login queues and frustration. But now things are settling enough to to start selling it again, and they have big plans to expand servers.

FFXIV is getting more NA and EU servers this year

Final Fantasy XIV is getting more servers to ease those congestion issues you've likely heard about, though you may have to wait a wee while before they're fully implemented.

Director Naoki Yoshida explains in a new blog post that Square Enix will add one new North American logical data centre in August 2022, which will introduce four more worlds. In the summer of 2023, the team will add another four worlds to that same data centre. While Yoshida had hoped to add all eight worlds at once, a shortage in the right parts necessitates that this be a two-phase plan.

There are similar plans to add more worlds for European players to inhabit, too. Four new worlds will be added to FFXIV in July 2022, which will be shared equally between the logical data centres already present. Once summer 2023 rolls around, Europe will get a new logical data centre with eight new worlds attached. The plan to expand the offerings of worlds in Europe is also happening in two phases due to the shortage of semiconductors in the industry right now.

Looks like FFXIV's next updates could be spelled out next month

Final Fantasy XIV has had a few patches since Endwalker recently released, though it looks like we'll have a better idea of how things will look in the build-up to the MMORPG's next big expansion next month.

As reported and translated by Siliconera and Aitai Kimochi, director Naoki Yoshida recently appeared on a Radio Mog Station broadcast to explain that the team will reveal details on future updates leading towards the next expansion in late February. Krile and Thancred will also be prominent figures in upcoming story updates, reportedly. Yoshida additionally says that there could be some drastic changes that may surprise you, though he didn't elaborate further. We've reached out to Square Enix for more information on the information dump and will update this story if we hear back.

Square Enix initially delayed FFXIV's Endwalker expansion for two weeks last year. While the game's Christmas-themed Starlight Celebration and New Year-themed Heavensturn events still launched at the same time, updates 6.01 and 6.05 - featuring the normal and Savage versions of the Pandaemonium raid, respectively - had to be pushed back. Outside of Endwalker's more immediate patches, though, we don't have much to go on regarding FFXIV's roadmap.
