The Final Fantasy XIV roulette experience, in rhythm game form

Someone has recreated Final Fantasy XIV's The Twinning dungeon in Rhythm Doctor, and - hot dang - does it make us wish we had another official Final Fantasy rhythm game.

Rhythm Doctor is a wee Steam gem that was released earlier this year. It's, well, a rhythm game where you heal patients by defibrillating in time to their heartbeats. The catch, though, is that each patient has a unique beat, and bosses will try to offset your rhythm. More to the point - it has a level editor.

FFXIV fan Kamayana has used the level editor to remake The Twinning dungeon introduced in the Shadowbringers update. You've got four pixelated characters making their way through the dungeon in side-scrolling action, tackling bosses to the beat of the track. Speaking of, you'll recognise the tune as A Long Fall by The Primals, which is a band formed by FFXIV sound director Masayoshi Soken. For the most part, the band covers music from the MMORPG in the heavy metal style, but it's always a treat to see them pop up at FFXIV Fan Fest - especially when other members of the dev team are acting as backup dancers (below).

FFXIV's Regalia mount returns next week

Final Fantasy XIV's Endwalker expansion may still be a few months away, but we've got the odd helping of recurring events to tide us over with new content to make the wait easier. Next up is Final Fantasy XIV's A Nocturne for Heroes event, which is your chance to get the Regalia mount once again.

We knew the Final Fantasy XV collaboration shindig was returning as Square Enix confirmed as much in its Endwalker roadmap. Now, though, we have a better idea of timings, so you can plan a wee bit more effectively. Square Enix has confirmed that the event will kick off on September 13 at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST - a wee bit of an early one if you're in the US, then. The event will end on October 18 at 7:59am PDT / 10:59am EDT / 3:59pm BST.

If you're new to Eorzea, the event comes with a slew of new quests and the opportunity to unlock the Regalia Type-G four-seater mount, Noctis' hair and costume, and orchestrion rolls. You'll need to make sure that your character is level 50 and that you've completed the "Ultimate Weapon" main scenario quest if you want to take part, though.

FFXIV's next Letter from the Producer explores Endwalker job changes

While Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion is a short two months away, there's still heaps we don't know about. Square Enix is saving some of Endwalker's content for the big release as a surprise, but the team is letting some details slip before then. In two weeks, we'll find out what tweaks the team is making to jobs alongside other battle-related updates for the new expansion.

Square Enix has revealed that it's hosting another Letter from the Producer stream on September 17 at 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT, which is September 18 3am BST. We don't have any links to share just yet, but they'll be dished out when the time is right. Square Enix also says there will be a live English interpretation of what's being presented, which is neato.

We don't know what Square Enix has planned for FFXIV's classes just yet, though some eagle-eyed fans reckon there's a hint in the recent Endwalker benchmark. At one point, it looks like a Summoner uses Ifit's Crimson Cyclone attack, so fans reckon Summoners may gain the ability to use their Summons' attacks themselves, which would give them the ability to get up close and throw 'em hands - or books, whatever.
