Your PC is not powerful enough to handle an FFXIV butt slider

Final Fantasy XIV players want to make their characters' butts bigger. Fans have requested - nay, demanded a butt slider for ages, and innovations such as the 2B outfit have confirmed that bigger butts are possible. However, director Naoki Yoshida says that a true butt slider is merely a pipe dream for now - in part because your hardware just isn't powerful enough to handle the majesty of expanded butts.

The 2B outfit actually indicates some of the issues with the butt slider, as Yoshida tells Gamespot. The larger butt on the costume had clipping issues with certain animations, and required manual adjustment.

"But if we were to have a slider where all of our players have the option to enlarge their behind," Yoshida says, "we would have to look at all of our equipment, which there are thousands in the game! We would have to remake each one because we have to anticipate some people might slide their butt slider all the way to maximum, and trying to accommodate for that is physically impossible unless we implemented this physics simulation so that the model of the fabric wouldn't overlap with the model of the behind."

Final Fantasy XIV's player count hits 20 million

July 22, 2020 FFXIV has reached more than 20 million players.

It looks like Final Fantasy XIV is continuing to go from strength to strength since its Shadowbringers expansion launched last year. Ahead of the FFXIV 5.3 patch due later this August, Square Enix reveals the Final Fantasy XIV player count has now hit 20 million registered users. That includes anyone who has played the free trial, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Speaking of the free trial, the figure announcement comes as Square Enix reveals it's extending the FFXIV free trial. You'll now be able to raise your characters to level 60, and play all the story content through to Heavensword. By some rough estimation, that's easily 100 hours of free content. With more free content and the upcoming patch, it'll be interesting to see where the MMORPG goes from here.

Final Fantasy XIV has undergone some impressive growth in the last few years. Last year's Shadowbringers expansion helped the game make the jump from 16 million players to 18 million as of December, 2019. For a bit more context, the total registered user count was reported as ten million in August 2017, so that's another ten million in the three years since.

Final Fantasy XIV is going free-to-play up through level 60

Final Fantasy XIV is dramatically expanding the scope of its free trial. Soon, players jumping into Square Enix's massive MMORPG will be able to raise characters up to level 60 and play all story content through Heavensward, as well as some of the expansions that have launched in patches up to 3.56.

That's a staggering amount of content in a free trial for one of the best MMOs on the market. The free trial will include everything mentioned above, which includes the jobs and playable Au Ra introduced in Heavensward. You'd have needed to own the expansion to see this content before now. Square Enix says owners of A Realm Reborn and the Starter Edition will have their games' content updated to include this free content as well, in case anyone was worried they'd be left out of the newly expanded free trial content.

Being that it's still a free trial for a game with a premium subscription, there are limits on what you can do gratis in Final Fantasy XIV - joining Free Companies, forming parties, and using the auction house are all activities reserved for paying customers.
