FINAL FANTASY XIV Online News

FF14 is going to have a tough time beating Monster Hunter Wilds' Omega update

Confirmation that the first Monster Hunter Wilds elder dragon is the returning Gogmazios certainly got long-time hunters like myself jumping out of our seats, but I fear it may have caused the most exciting news to slip under the radar. I'll admit to being a big Final Fantasy 14 fan, which does skew my opinion a touch, but the Omega Planetes event is shaping up to be even more impressive than World's take on Behemoth. FF14 game director Naoki Yoshida previously talked about wanting to up his team's game after feeling that it was 'defeated' by Monster Hunter's offering last time; it's going to have a tough job on its hands.

New FF14 special site unveils Monster Hunter Wilds crossover rewards

A new Final Fantasy 14 special site has just been launched covering the imminent Monster Hunter Wilds crossover event, which is set to land in early October. The collaboration is one of the most-requested for both games in recent years following the success of Stormblood's dance with Monster Hunter World. It will bring Guardian Arkveld to FF14, while MH Wilds is gearing up for the arrival of Omega Planetes. Now, Square Enix has given us a more in-depth look at the gear, mounts, minions, and housing items we'll be able to get their hands on - although I've got a sneaking suspicion there are still some treats to come.

Final Fantasy 14 game director Naoki Yoshida says we'll have plenty of chances to show off our strength in the MMO's upcoming stories, but warns that you might have to do some reading. Our Warrior of Light was supposed to be on vacation in Dawntrail, and, while that didn't pan out quite as we hoped, we still took more of a back seat to give the characters around us a chance to step up and grow. Patches 7.2 and 7.3 make it increasingly clear that approach won't be possible moving forward, however, so we sat down with 'Yoshi-P' at Gamescom to discuss becoming the hero again, solving puzzles, and Dawntrail's focus on family.

Launch FINAL FANTASY XIV Now

FF14's Beastmaster is "completely different," Yoshida says, and links to Bozja

The Final Fantasy 14 Beastmaster is one of the most anticipated additions to the MMORPG in some time, and it's due to come as part of Dawntrail's remaining patches - specifically during the FF14 7.5 rollout. This second 'limited job' joins the Blue Mage as an entire side activity of its own, and is expected to have much more distinctive mechanics than any of the standard roles. Yet details on what it'll actually entail have been relatively light. Now, however, FF14's Naoki Yoshida gives us a bit more insight into what we'll be doing, and teases that you might want to check in with the Bozjan Southern Front.
